Yes but low interest rate boosts household income levels because businesses can afford to pay higher wages to their employees. Banks can offer loans at lower rates for boosting infrastructure. Low interest rate in US frees up money for spending in the economy. So low interest rate does achieve "boosting household savings/income"

For this speech and others Chidambaram paid the price by being in jail for 100 days. If only he had ensured that CBI properly investigated and courts punished the criminals neither he would have gone to jail nor the country would have seen the fiasco in the economy and affairs we see today.

Even though the budget was badly delivered, no respectable economist would agree with Chidambaram that "boosting household savings" would grow the Indian economy. If anything, the opposite is true. Interest rates in America are so low for the last 10 years for that same reason.
Yes but low interest rate boosts household income levels because businesses can afford to pay higher wages to their employees. Banks can offer loans at lower rates for boosting infrastructure. Low interest rate in US frees up money for spending in the economy. So low interest rate does achieve "boosting household savings/income"

It does not find desired results.The money has been diverted in such a manner it accrues some benefit for the govt that it does not help the economic growth of the nation.
