I agree with you when you say that we can express our oppinion, but "respectfully and appropriately". Yeah, she's a human being, and a public person. I agree with you that, as us, she deserves respect, not only in the professional point of view, but also in her personal life. You can't imagine how I suffer when I see someone desrespecting an artist, especially when I like this artist. Just an exemple: when people start being offensive to Julia Murney (just because she is not a soprano).

@msbecky630 She got called in as a last second replacement. I think she deserves a little bit of a break, as does Julia for moving up to play Florence. She was originally supposed to play Svetlana, if I remember correctly.
Well, keep in mind that she was a last second replacement. Julia was supposed to play that role, but they bumped her up to (Florence?) because whoever was supposed to play Florence (name escapes me) had to drop. Not to mention, it's a concert, generally acting is secondary if at all necessary.
Well Idina came into this business saying, "I'm a singer, not an actor." I think, however, she plays a strong character that I think was a risk. It differs a lot from how people might expect Florence to be. She's not overly dramatic, she plays it close to her vest. I think that's definitely an acting choice.
@buffymovies I certainly wouldn't call her acting bland. She played the role very fiery and angry, it was a much more passionate interpretation than Sutton's in that sense.
I like Lea she sings amazingly, but I think this song works better as a duet. I like this version too. but the shouting debate below reminds me of a saying... If you can't sing, sing loud! :p tho I think these two can sing pretty damn good :)
y'know i have to agree with you. but if you hear her pairing with kerry it sounds great because of how they both sing. both sing very forcefully. but i love both kerry/idina and this sutton/julia pairing. i don't think i like this version though.

This is not a personal attack. I think that she is not a good actress. She has a wonderful voice and i'd listen to he sing the phone book, but I don't think she maks honest, specific, organic acting choices. Her voice is wonderful, her acting abilities are limited.
i actually thought kerry ellis' performance in chess was very bland. she's a good singer but i find her acting rather passionless. i'm not usually a sutton fan either but she brings so much life to the character here. she should do dramatic roles more often

And I don't accept, she tried her best. That's rubbish, if poepl pay good money to see a show, then they deserve the best. The producers were at fault for choosing Idina purely to put bums on seats. Julia Murney's performance makes Idina's look like a high school production.
