I front pocket carry a fixed blade every day and I have for quite some time now. Some great products out there. Small batch makers are the guys I like to buy from but always open to any quality blade. Good video
What are your favorites? Also, what’s your favorite way to front pocket carry? It seems like oak city leather sheaths, ulti clips, and tying it to a belt loop are some of the best ways. I’m interested to hear how you do it!
Love to see some more EDC fixed blades . I carry the fixed blades more in the winter. Because it's convenient when my hands are cold Just pull it out . Great videos truly enjoy watching them. Thanks for all you do .
There is such an opportunity for Smoky Mountain to put more fix blades in more peoples EDC rotation if they make more custom sheaths for these blades. LT WRight is a perfect example , Beautiful little blade, absolutely no way to carry it discreetly. If you were forced to have giant sheath , Might as well have giant knife . Please use your custom shop to provide what manufacturers do not. Great show! Allen
I carry a fixed blade of some sort. Today is my GNecker, but most of the time it's my RMJ Tactical Unmei. I found that the Unmei is the largest I can carry and still keep it concealed. Thanks for the video.
Started carrying a benchmade flyway for edc after buying one for upland game. I carried it all day in my pocket with lots of walking on a hunt then breasted out 27 pheasant in a row from the group and it was still shaving sharp, you can’t beat that for a little fixed blade.
I EDC fixed-blades in my front pocket. MKM Mikro and Benchmade Hidden Canyon Hunter both with leather sheaths are 2 of my favorites. The Tops mini Tanimbocca Pukko is another great option. I use it and a Condor Beetle for neck knives.
Ordered a white and black g10 Weatherford medium signature series, loved it so much I gave it to my brother in law and went purchased the orange and black one (I like it better) I carry it at 5 a clock behind my right hip. Don’t even know it’s there. Love it. Although some options for sharpening would be nice since I only have a work sharp precision adjust. What’s some recommendations to keep it sharp and still use the factory edge grind?
I'm not against fixed blade edc, just not my jam especially since I cant carry those at work. But trying to get into them on weekends. Appreciate this video and more to come.
Just a suggestion if you want to carry a small fixed blade at work. I carry a sog mini either in my front pocket or horizontal carry on my belt with a golf shirt untucked. In my pocket depending on the pants a tiny bit of the handle can be seen, which is not any worse then a folder clipped in the pocket. Anyways just a thought, have a great weekend!!
2 great options to just carry on your pocket are the Rainier knives fastpack and the White River Backpacker. Can't beat a small fixed blade in the front pocket!
I’ve always carried folders but recently got my first fixed blade EDC and I’m hooked on fixed blade EDC. My choice is the Esee Izula-II in black oxide 1095 steel with micarta scales. I’m now looking to get additional fixed blades for EDC.
A fixed blade is a great choice for a EDC and with so many great options you can go small ,CRKT minimalist, LT Wright Bandit, etc to as large as you want to go!
Another great video! I am more partial to edc a fixer than a folder. I’ve been waiting for those Bandits to come back in stock! I’m pretty sure it will be my edc dream, as I am definitely a leather sheath guy!! Please do tell: where, oh where can I find one of those BEAUTIFUL leather SMKW shop mats sitting in front of T.C.!?? Absolutely stunning!! Keep up the great work, gang!!
Your in luck for the LT Wrights! www.smkw.com/brands/lt-wright-knives and the mat was sent to us by instagram.com/lancelotleather/?hl=en and they do excellent work!
Thanks for the great video!!! I edc a smith&wesson M&P fixed on my person most of the time when I'm not worried about discretion as well I edc a sling bag and have either my sog or ckrt mini on the sling. If I go in anywhere I need to be discrete ill put my smith&wesson in my bag and move my mini to my person. Since I try and commute by bike most of the time and the violence is definitely on a rise. In the bag I have a small trauma kit and other tools. As well since I'm licensed I carry a vhf / uhf hand held radio. Living in Canada we are not allowed to carry a gun and knives are not suppose to be concealed. Legally we are not allowed to use a knife in self defense. If we do the courts can charge you with a restricted weapon. (Weird twist)
Yep, have a custom fixed blade on belt now...little 3” blade. I looked at the Weatherford case in your store when I was there back in June ( give me a break, I bought 5 knives when I was there). Got home and was going to order one but last I saw they were out of stock.
I carry many different small fixed blades in my rotation , they are LT Wright Frontier Valley , LT Wright Swamp Rattler , LT Wright Patriot , LT Wright Frontier first ,Lionsteel B35 , White River knives M1 backpacker Pro , Shenk knives Osprey Elmax , Bark River Bird and trout for field use only. These are what I carry I prefer the better-quality fixed blades even at more cost and made in USA.
I carry my Spartan Enyo everyday (S35vn steel, pre Pineland knife). The Enyo was designed for Special Operations Forces for when they are in non-permissive areas, so they still have something they can defend themselves with. My bro Dexter Ewing (Blade mag field editor) did a write-up on this knife, and of other Spartans. Must be online somewhere.
I just started to watch this program tc I have very big hands and I would like to carry a fixed blade knife but because of my big hands what do you recommend for big hands to carry please help thank you Martin
I love the Minamalist too! The spew is carried everyday appendix carry with the handle facing to center, I carry that way as a back up to my sidearm or to stop something from trying to borrow my sidearm from me. An I can draw from either hand easily! Thanks TC, you guys 🎸!
TC varies his carry daily based on mood and what he is doing so has a depth to pull from built up over time. Try different things to see what you want to carry and what is useful as well 👍
Had the absolute pleasure of going there last year on vacation! I could of easily spent my two weeks in SMKW's my wife however would of probably left me. Lol
Nce job Bro and SMKW🗡🗡 I EDC. the ESEE in s35vn with custom scales from TKC. It's my favorite knife I own and as well to carry best out all my high end folders like my Spyderco Para 3 and my Spyderco Manix 2XL in s30v. my Kershaw Leek,..etc.....etc... I also own the Izula in 1095. FYI. I also own and carry the CRKT Minilalast you mentioned in tanto as backup to my Izula. Love all my knives but my ESEE Izula in s35vn trumps them.all IMO🗡🗡🗡 Once again,..love your podcasts,....especially all the ones you did on blade steels,...really helpful/informatine🗡🗡🗡
Your Weathorford knife looks not unlike the Schrade PRO HUNTER. UNDER FIFTY BUCKS!! Want a Loveless and can't afford $5k + ? Bob designed the PH as a one handed pocket knife. The most advanced is his CITY KNIFE, if you can go the freight. My PH has done all manner of ranch work over the last seventeen years, and parted out an elk, four deer and a bear. The sheath is the weak point, It is a pouch type, very serviceable but not the Loveless type, so I made one. I hates me some Kydex! rigid, and noisy. I've recommended this knife and given it as a gift. Yeah, you can spend more....
I have tried this and the edc fixed blade is not faster coming out of pocket. In fact because you have to have it in a sheath in your pocket sometimes the sheath comes out with the knife. Belt carry speed it is almost identical or slower depending on the sheath leather vs kydex this is still true with a folder pocket clip attached to your belt. Secondly it’s not pulling it out to cut something fast it’s putting it back in it’s sheath that can be a pain in the ass. I am constantly cutting boxes open with new product I sell and I will tell you your customers don’t want to wait while you screw around putting your small fixed blade back in the sheath. You really have to watch with these small knives putting the blade back because small knife> small sheath >small targeted return. The neck thing is also very slow if your concealing under a shirt and to overt outside the shirt for normal face to face business. You don’t need a spring assisted or auto knife either for speed. You need practice and constantly carry your knife in the same place. Another defensive tip a folding knife is easier to conceal in the hand unopened your attackers might never even see it coming if the fight endangers your life or your loved one. All this being said the best knife in a knife fight is a large fixed blade dagger/ modern bayonet/ maybe a Bowie but these knifes are not edc knifes. You better bet any edc knife you choose should first be a convenient tool and second be able to deploy in a fight (think breaking contact and running away)for your life because you forgot your gun. I love seeing Millennial’s struggle to get out there pocket fixed blades out when I have already completed the cutting task. Same is true with slip joints, leathermans anything those dumbass millennials can think up that fit their style and their pointy brown Keebler elf shoes and skinny jeans. It’s funny seeing their stupid faces when I am out of pocket to open>completed my cutting > completed my re folding task > back in the pocket and they are still trying to get their fixed blade with a snap out of the horizontal carry on their belt(posers). If your style is slow/deliberate or you want to be a fake gentleman and you have excepted that a edc fixed blade is for you well your living your best life. Please continue to embrace your idiocracy. Please don’t leave any small edc fixed blades on the shelf at smkw.com because you know the other millennials already ordered theirs. They will want to show it to you at the next millennial Keebler elf cookie cook off. Lmao…
You have very staunch opinions and thats great, this video nor any of these knives were intended for self defense. I am also not saying in this video that anyone needs to carry a fixed blade. I do and it works for me, but I unlike many, know, understand and can admit that what works for me doesn't work for everyone. It really is greatly dependent on what you do and where you spend most of your time. Clearly fixed blades don't work for you and thats fine, but berating someone for having a different opinion and when it comes to knives a different POU is very close minded. This series simply exists to give ideas and suggestions that one might not have tried or thought of. Now we will be doing a self defense edc very soon and you are more than welcome to come back and disagree with that whole video as well. Have an awesome day, thanks for watching and remember.... different strokes for different folks.
I've been carrying an LTWRIGHT Patriot everyday for the last year since it slids easily into my front pocket with the sheath. I bought the LTWRIGHT Small Northern Hunter for my wife to carry in her purse. It's a good size without being scary big, or so small It's impossible to find in a hurry. I think I bought the last Bandit you currently had. I'm hoping to use it soon on a salmon, but even if I don't I'll have it available for next year.
You dont need your face buried in the mic. It sounds muffled and too loud and looks bad. This is a video, not a radio show. Why do you need this huge mic and boom in front of you?

Nice small fixed blades options. Thanks for the look TC. The LT Wright might be my pick of the lot. Take care.

Thanks for watching! RMJ makes some amazing blades!
The minimalist bowie at 19.99 is a deal! Upgraded steel for cheaper than the standard. Had to grab a few for gifts.
Tim that is a hard one to pass up!
I definitely like to EDC a fixed blade for certain uses
We have started to make sure a small fixed blade is part of our EDC as well mixing modern flippers with slip joints as well
Started carrying a benchmade flyway for edc after buying one for upland game. I carried it all day in my pocket with lots of walking on a hunt then breasted out 27 pheasant in a row from the group and it was still shaving sharp, you can’t beat that for a little fixed blade.

Those are all great to carry!
Awesome video thanks for showing them to us, for a small fixed blade EDC I have been carrying the Kabar Wrench knife.
The KABAR Wrench knife has been super popular as a gift! Knife Guy? It's a knife! Car, boat, and/or bike guy? It's a wrench!
Carried the ESEE Izula for half this month and now carrying the ESEE Izula II till the end of the month. Getting into carrying a fixed blade.
We love the Izula!
My top fixed rotational carries: ESEE Iszula2, TOPS iraq jac, C.A.T tanto, and Delta3. Folder Cold steel kiridashi. A cheap strong beater!
Those are great carries!

One of the many great things about the knife community is trying different styles and kinds of blades until you find one that fits you 👍
2 great options to just carry on your pocket are the Rainier knives fastpack and the White River Backpacker. Can't beat a small fixed blade in the front pocket!
We love a good fixed blade EDC

I would like to see some inside the pocket fixed blades. I carry the boker burnley BFF. I love this knife.
Thanks for watching and great suggestion
I EDC a neck knife ( small fixed blade) and often wear a field knife. Folts minimalist are a great small EDC fixie.

I edc a kabar dozier (blue) and victorinox tinker (black) 👍
I just started to watch this program tc I have very big hands and I would like to carry a fixed blade knife but because of my big hands what do you recommend for big hands to carry please help thank you Martin
The ESEE 5 smkw.com/esee-5-desert-tan-1095-3d-blood-red or bigger should fit just about any large hand size

I would love a d2 minimalist in the wharncliffe or maybe even the drop point, I already have a Bowie one.
That would be awesome!
have only had one fixed blade, may have to acquire a few more...
We love EDCing a fixed blade👍
Is the kershaw tek lok compatible
I just started getting into fixed blades and smaller is definitely a better transition from folders
An episode on small carving and Camp hatchets would be cool TC.
We thinks you may be on to something kj!

How do you carry the Weatherford
Belt carry vertical on the left side
So weird ive been on a fixed blade hunt for edc lately and got a few and now im starting to see a bunch of videos about it

I love my edc fixed blades. I have a few tops I love to carry.
Tops makes great knives for all carries including EDC 👍
Had the absolute pleasure of going there last year on vacation! I could of easily spent my two weeks in SMKW's my wife however would of probably left me. Lol
Thanks for stopping in!
Nice choices TC! Surprised you didn’t mention the Leek
One form of the Leek or another is never far away in this office
Best knives PERIOD

Great vid I always liked the CKRT and the Carlitos looks good too 👍🏻✌🏻
If done the right way you can't go wrong with a nice little edc fixie!
Not normally into fixed blades but this vid might've changed my mind

Once again,..love your podcasts,....especially all the ones you did on blade steels,...really helpful/informatine🗡🗡🗡
Thanks for watching and nice collection
I edc a marttiini 121. It's got a 3 inch blade and is perfect.
We love Marttiini knives!
I love seeing these, but I'm still not convince it'll help me around the office. A larger fixed blade for outdoors, of course.
One of our favorite things about the knife world is that we can try different things and find the EDC that fits us just right 👍
Howdy y’all can’t wait to come down next month
thank you so much and we look forward to seeing you!
great video
Thanks for watching

I carry my Bradford guardian in n690 every day
