@@surveysays8335 1445 actually for the one as reviewed the first one that pops up doesn't have the optional headrest. And the gesture isn't even their best chair the Leap is. But I would say the Amia and the Series 2 are both also entirely quality chairs and sell for like half money. Though truth be told I'd always suggested buying chairs like this from a refurb place. Businesses will often buy fleets off these chairs take them off of taxes so they are free. Use them several years, and then sell them to a refurb place for next to nothing (and still be happy cause they just sold something that they got to write off on taxes so they made money on the chairs long term). The refurb places will throw on fresh padding and cloth and resell them often for less than half money. You can get a fully kitted Leap V2 pretty regular for sub 600 with shipping included. You can get Leap V1's pretty often in the 400 dollar range restored to like new condition.
We have Steelcase chairs at the office, and when they replaced them with a newer model, I talked supervisor in selling me my old chair. Absolutely brilliant chairs!
I was sold on getting this chair. As a 6ft 3 260lbs dude, The lumbar and neck support would help alot. When I heard $1300 ..my heart and hopes sank. God I wish I had this 😭
you can find a steelcase gesture at some used office furniture stores for much less; about 400. Thats how i got a Humanscale Freedom for about 350. I have found an Aeron for about 400
I'm 6"2, I grabbed the secret lab titan and love it its cheaper and really good for tall people, no issues with lacking lumbar support or having to arch your legs duee to the seat being the wrong height, give it a try if you can or just return it if you don't like it
Watching Jay while sitting in my Steelcase Amia, they ARE worth the money. Also a tip for anyone shocked/turned off by the price, watch marketplace for office clearouts. These are a common chair in banks and law firms and most offices. Often times you can find one for CHEAP because the contractor was told to "throw them out" and has them listed on marketplace for like $50. That being said, if you have the money a new one would be amazing! They have so many colors and choices! Also, when scared off by the price, you spend over $1000 on your gaming pc never mind monitors, mics gear etc. But your chair is literally the only thing that you sit on. So getting something solid that actually supports you, your body will thank you. It will also probably be the last chair you buy.
I found a Steelcase Leap Plus at the Goodwill for $13 a year~ ago. To think I had no clue how amazing of a chair it was, and was more excited about finding a Singer sewing machine for $10. Well, I soon found out that I had just paid $13 for an $1800 chair. It's a hideous kind of forest green color with a stain down the middle of it, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for the price I paid. I removed the cover to the seat (it's like a really tough material that's cinched around some kind of really dense memory foam with a cord pulling it taught on the underside.) I was able to get it off and I hand washed the cover outside with the hose and some soap, and then I treated it with some antimicrobial disinfectant. Looks like a brand new chair, and it's so freaking comfortable.
Find a deal in your area - they should be able to refurbish the chair - change the fabrics and all that stuff. These things are built to last for a decade+ and it is normal (from what my local dealer told me) for the companies to send in their chairs for fabric replacement or proper cleaning instead of just buying new once. So yeah, you just found something that will last you a long time for, basically, free :D
I bought a Steelcase Gesture chair less than 2 years ago and the hydraulic cylinder started going bad. Steelcase's customer service and warranty is the best I've ever experienced. I emailed them and explained what was happening and provided my original order number. All they wanted was a photo or video of the issue. No questions asked, they sent me a brand new chair and said I can keep the old one. So, I gave the old one to the wife :)
A chair like this is an investment in your physical health just like a good mattress is. As some one who has bought cheap chairs and mattresses and then went and bought proper ones it's worth every penny.
I have owned this chair since the beginning of this year (2021) and I love it. I am a big guy as well 6'4" 290lbs and it sits me just fine. Amazing chair and with a 12 year warranty, its worth the price cause you won't have to keep buying a new chair every few years now!
We have two of them. I bought mine because I have issues with my back since childhood and usually lot of backpain. The chair really helped. I'm a programmer and sitting in my chair ~12 hours a day. You can't put a price on your health, especially when it helps ease your pain. My gf bought one right after that and she's also loving it.
I've had my Steelcase Gesture with headrest now for 18 months, absolutely the best purchase I've ever made. I'm 6'4" 215lbs, Steelcase has a 15% off sale twice a year, I got mine during that paid $1,100 shipped. It beats anything I've ever owned.
It doesn't get much more honest than this folks...at least it's from someone who uses the product and knows what the hell he's talking about. quite refreshing these days.
When I started working from home part time almost ~4 years ago I bought a Gesture; by far the best purchase I've made, can't recommend these chairs enough!
19:23 WAIT this is an amazing idea. A workout ergo chair. It comes with a QR that leads to a bunch of workouts you can do with your chair. Great for people with small spaces and no room for equipment.
I too switched to a Steelcase Gesture. Best investment ever. I came from a Secret Labs Titan. That chair was nice because I'm a bit heavier and have wide shoulders. But the chair was too tall for me. However, the Steelcase Gesture fixed all of my posture issues. The used chair market is great for these types of chairs. I bought one used and have no regrets.
I've had mine for a year now and man ... it's really made a world of a difference. Especially when being in home office for 8 hours. Total bliss for the back
DUDE! I've had a Steelcase Leap for about 10 years now, and I honestly had no idea it had ANY of these features until you walked through all the knobs and whatnot on your chair. This video helped me slide the seat to a more comfortable forward/back position and tighten the resistance when leaning back (I always just locked it upright since it fell too easily before). I've always loved this chair, but man, it's never been more comfortable. Thanks, Jay!!
Big difference between just sitting in a chair for a couple of hours vs moving around, getting in and out an different people using a workstation chair for hours on end. I've seen many chairs of different designs come in and go out due to broken wheels, gas lifts, arms, torn seats, busted backs etc. You only have 1 back and 2 knees- spend the money to get quality, strength and comfort.
Congrats with your new Steelcase Gesture and is 10 years warranty. I have a Steelcase LEAP Coach right now, had a regular LEAP before for 7 years and want a Gesture one day. That have nothing to do with gaming chair ...
I sit in a desk/office chair all day. I can definitely say that Jay, is not wrong. I spent about $1k on my chair, and I don't regret a thing, all these years later.
I own this chair because at 6'2" and 300lbs, most chairs weren't rated for my weight. Plus it's rated for like 12 hours of use. I spend 10-12 hours on my PC for work. Love this chair!!!
For all those complaining about price - at least in the UK, this comes with a 12 year warranty, and will likely last well beyond that given the build quality. When you work out the cost per year, it really makes a lot more sense. Granted you need the cash to drop on it straight away but I'd guess the cost per year of its useful life will be a lot lower than other, cheaper chairs.
Comes with a 12 year warranty in the US too. I did the same math and figured it'd be cheaper to get my steelcase gesture at aprox $1200, so it's $100 per year.
Nah. Ive had my 50 dollar computer desk chair for 5 years. Great back support, just not as mobile as this chair. Complete scam for the excessively rich to give away their money
This is my rationale for buying work boots and a lot of other things. Yeah, my boots are $600 a pair. But they're custom made for me and last six times as long as boots I have used in the past for $250-$300. More comfort and longevity is worth the expense, even though it takes longer to save up.
I have a Steelcase Criterion. My old job bought it specifically for me, and I kept it after I left. It's built like a tank, and even my cat tries to steal my chair. Glad you found out what I've known for years! But now I want a Gesture..... trade?
I bought my 2nd Herman Miller Aeron chair back in 2005 when I moved to Australia and I am still using it. I added a 3rd party headrest to it - which it really needed. The Steelcase chair looks great and if I ever needed to upgrade, I would give it a serious look. The only downside I can see is the fabric seat. I really like the mesh fabric of the HM Aeron. But I agree with Jay, the most important piece of furniture you will ever buy is the chair you spend most of your time in. As a retired chiropractor, I can tell you a lot of back problems and lower limb circulation complaints are due to cheap office chairs.
I would say due to too much sitting... i am contemplating some changes and i think a standing desk (with a motor to raise / lower) is probably a lot healthier. I'm all for good chairs but I think it's a little bit like do you put 1 or 3 spoons of sugar in your cup of crap. Sure it may improve the taste marginally but doesn't solve the problem.
only had my aeron chair for a week or so now and I don't even really care for a headrest, how it naturally positions my back I don't feel it's needed. but everyone has different preferences also I really like the mesh over passing as well
I have a Herman Miller but need to replace it, it only lasted 6 months before falling apart, it was in good condition when I got it from an office auction, but very quickly wore out in many different ways since using it while working from home :(. There's a Steelcase showroom near me so I might go check out these chairs see if they are any better (and if they have a good warranty).
@@Phat_Plants For something that costs ~$1300 USD, $1989 AUD is actually very good, USD prices rarely include tax but the AUD price includes 10% tax so with current exchange rate that is pretty much bang on for price parity which is a refreshing change :)
Finally, a propper chair on a tech channel instead of those "gaming" trash cans called, chairs :D I have tried the Gesture and some others, but decided the LEAP just fits me so perfect, and the warranty, and the experience I had buying it, and now sitting in it for more than 2 years in my job that is 12h shifts in front of the screen, I can tell you, I is the best money spent ever! :D
I think the key thing on the sticker shock is these chairs come with some seriously long warranties and they do seem to last that long like the Herman miller i think has a 12 year warrant so your paying a bit more than $100 a year for the chair. This chair has a life time warranty, getting 10 years out of a high quality chair is not a wild thing to think of if you get to a price point of $130 a year basically its just the up front cost that is scary. TLDR the bang for your buck is emense for these chair as you generally are going to spend more on chair if you replacement when they wear out.
Wholey Carp! I got one of these (Gesture) two weeks ago. Can confirm it's extremely comfy for (ughumm) large people. I used a Steelcase Leap for the last five years, needed very expensive motorcycle seat base material to be usable. Not the new one! The seat base back-forth control isn't stiff enough to prevent the seat from sliding when you scoot the chair forward or back (on carpet). There should be a lumbar adjustment at this price, too. I LOVE the arm design! Genius.
1:46 is 100% true.. I never understand the logic of people who buy the cheapest crapiest chair, when literally they sit in their chair all day long. it makes 100% perfect sense to invest in a quality chair, more than upgrading your computer since you interact with your chair more than your computer and is what determines your comfort level as you use your computer.
just received by gesture i ordered after watching this video and what all he said about it fitting big bois like me is real and im happy that i invested this much money into the chair that i plan to keep forever. no problems or complains, just a upgrade from garbage office chairs.
One thing I'd say is for any of these higher end chairs is try them out. It's all personal preference. The Herman Miller Aeron really worked for me and helped my back. I've used a number of Steelcase for work. Due to all their settings they work for more people. For those of you with Aeron keep an eye out for a head rest. Really improves the reclining relaxation.
Hell yeah! love mine and the headrest. I have a terrible back and had a fusion 6 months ago and my Herman Miller is AMAZING! save your back and body and forget cheap "gamer chairs"..
If you have a local dealer and a good consultant who can explain you everything you need to know - it's amazing. In my area the owner of the local dealer was an ex athlete with education in sports and he took an hour of his time to explain every single detail to me and find the chair that fits me. No regrets and I even dragged my wife out to get a chair for her - she went in a span of 30 minutes from "I will entertain this dumb idea of spending this amount of money on a chair because we have the time" to "You are buying me this one, non-negoatiable" :D
I have owned two steelcase leap chairs for over 10 years in my home office. You will be very satisfied with your purchase. Btw I'm 6'5" and the lumbar support works great.
I bought a SteelCase Leap from a liquidation on Ebay for 300, My chair was MFG'd Dec 2001 and ive had it for 8 years now and still going strong. It just needs to be reupholstered as the fabric is just now starting to wear out. I blew my lower lumbar out in 2014 and This has been the best purchase i have ever made, It wasnt new, but it still has the most support out of any chair i have ever sat in. Now that im working from home, im literally in the chair 14+ hours a day with work and gaming. I would love to get a newer model so i can have upperback and neck support as i had a c3-c4 fusion and sometimes my head is really hard to keep up lol
Best chair I've had so far has been a fitness ball/chair. Shifting around improved my balance. Started sitting at desk in barracks room with both arms on desk and both feet on floor. Then would moved around and put one leg up, then the the other leg up as Jay demonstrated sitting on his leg. Then started sitting on it Indian style at my desk. Eventually I ended up sitting on it Indian style in the middle of the floor without touching anything while playing Xbox games. It strengthened my core muscles so much it improved my posture and I was measured an inch taller at the next weigh in. On the next PFT I performed 98 crunches in the first minute (we got two minutes to do a max of 100 crunches).
@@jeremycarroll978 I think it helped my balance a lot too. Good balance helps when carrying a full load. I can picture the images of a bunch of recruits balancing on fitness balls. I'm sure certain news channel personalities would go nuts.
I've had SO many office type chairs, I've never fallen for the 'gaming' chair nonsense, but they always start to creak, break or come apart after a couple of years, and they're generally not especially comfortable. Seeing Jay and Phil both sitting in the same chair comfortably, as well as Jay ragging on it showing the durability, I think I'm going to have to get me one of these. I'm 6'0" and 250lbs, similar to Nick, and the arm adjustability looks like a god-send.
Back when I worked at the office we had Steelcase chairs and there were indeed comfortable - and very adjustable. Getting a well-fitting chair for working and gaming at home has proven to reduce back and leg discomfort. I can work all day and game all night with ease.
Guys think about it. A $1000 Steelcase can easily last 20 years. How many $200 chairs did you buy in that time? I sit in my chair now working from home fulltime for 8-12 hours a day. Its an investment in your health like a mattress. I've never tried the Gesture, but I've used Leap for years. Also, LOL at "criss-cross applesauce".
there are several refurbish outlets for office furniture that provide warranty. You can get some stuff 50% off retail. I bought a refurb leap v2 with extras under $500
My high school had a contract with steel case and every chair on the entire campus was sooooo comfortable they do a great job even the cheaper plastic school chairs on wheels are fantastic
Already have the Steelcase Gesture with headrest and big size for tall people. Love it. It is SO much better than anything I've had. Good lumbar support too. Just add armrest pads.
I appreciate you having the whole crew sit in it since my build and weight is similar to Nick's and glad he seemed to enjoy it just as much. Pulled the purchase on getting my own with this video being the last nudge I needed.
Same, I hope we both end up happy with our purchases. I'm of course betting we will is why I pulled the trigger. I'm sure you like me looked at the cost per year of use to justify the up front cost because when you think about it. This thing has a 12 bumper to bumper warranty that even covers the fabric. So that broke down for me after adding headrest and added lumber to $104.83 per year. I've also found that their chairs generally outlive even that 12 year warranty. Sorry I'm rambling because like you I'm really hoping this is the last chair I have to research and buy...
We have used steelcase at my company for a long time now. They are expensive, but they make some damn good products. I have one of their leap chairs in my office, and love it.
I bought this chair a few years ago and it was money well spent. After spending 10 hours a day on the computer for work I’d be in so much pain from my old chair. It was tough to decide what color combo to get. Glad I got the headrest for reclining during meetings.
I'd have chosen a fabric one too, but what sold me on the Aeron was that the mesh is easy to keep clean and I the fact that I live in Europe. We don't really have ACs here, so having the breathability of a mesh chair on top of a fan blowing air on my sweaty back, is a life saver in the hot summers.
I got mine as a grade A refurb from crandall furniture. Comes with the full 12 year warranty and everything. The fact the company warranties that long should be a testement to how good the chair is.
I was lucky enough to get my Steelcase for free from a local office that was replacing all of their chairs. Actually has a custom coffee bean patterned fabric because it cam from a community coffee office. Best chair I have ever owned.
Just ordered one. I had been struggling to find a comfortable chair and being of similar size and age, some of your comments made it sound like this would be a great fit for me.
To everyone that are scared of the price tag, I recommend getting these types of chairs used. You can get nearly new ones for 50% or more off used and are usually backed by a ~12 year warranty. IMO worth every penny if you spend a lot of time in desk chairs. I got a Steelcase Think V1 and V2 for $150 and $275 (you can get better deals, I just needed them) in nearly new condition. These chairs were about $800 to $900 new and are built to last. Just my two cents :)
I bought one of the Leap V2's from one of the big refurb places that reupholstered the seats with double thickness foam. Like half the price custom colors. Great value. Can't go wrong.
As a short guy, I've had the same issue as Phil, so I've been looking into the secretlab chair for smaller people, and I honestly don't care about gamer.stuff as long as it's comfy and will last. Would be interested to see Phil try one of those and see what he thinks.
I pick up one of these a couple weeks ago and I am happy with it. The build quality and adjustability is amazing! I would like to know how the headrest feels since mine doesn't have that. If you're interested in this chair but not the price, look on Craigslist and eBay. I got mine open-box from a local eBay seller for $500.
I tried one of these and ended up returning it. The big thing I couldn't get over was the fact that the seat didn't lean back when reclining. Also the headrest stuck out too far forward for me to find it comfortable when not reclined, so I kept it turned around out of the way the rest of the time. The first of those is subjective and the second one may not be a problem for some people (and you can get it without the headrest anyways). I found it to be great in every other way, it just didn't suit me and my preferences. I would definitely recommend trying it out if you're willing to spend this much on a chair, and the manufacturer has a 30-day free return policy so you don't lose anything if you don't like it.
i've been using an old as hell Steelcase Drive chair for years, old roommate had it and left it at the house when he moved out, and i gotta say.....PERFECT. it has almost all the exact same features minus the arm rests but i can still move them up and down and they flip to be more spaced out or close together. its getting pretty creaky and the fabric is falling starting to stress and fall apart but i just cant being myself to get rid of such a wonderful chair. I can sit in this thing for 12 hours straight and feel great. Cant recommend Steelcase highly enough.
As soon as jay said that he sits cross cross on this chair and the fact that it conforms to angled backs, I went “Chair mine” out loud, and my confirmed my sister’s theory that I have more Neanderthal in my blood.
I’ve been using a steel case chair for years in the office. Once I was forced into work from home I bought my own because they are just so comfortable. Definitely worth the price. I didn’t get this one though, I got the Amia model and it’s great.
btw, I'm buying one. The TwoCents discount is only 6% off the total pre-tax price. It's possible the 10% only applies to the base chair and not the extras like lumbar and headrest. Plus I think there was already a black-Friday discount anyway. Not complaining mind you! I got an extra 6% off! Just FYI.
Omg I’ve been waiting for a video like this from you guys :) Please more chair videos! They’re SUCH an essential for your setup, I’m surprised that chairvideos by gaming enthusiasts are so scarce
I have had the chair at work for 1.5 years and must say: extremely good chair for people with back problems, especially in combination with a height-adjustable desk!
I can't believe I watched a full chair review. The armrests and lumbar have me very interested. Not in the budget 'til 22 but it'll definitely be on my radar. The height comparison with half of Jayz head out of view was choice, didn't realize Phil was such a runt! (I'm a monsterous 5'8) LoL. Nicely done guys
As someone who's in the market for a good chair, thank you. Before covid I'd commute past a steelcase store on the daily and I'm heading over this week to test out their options. Cheers.
Depending on the type of chair, what I do is I use a seat cover meant for a car. Just as a heads up for anyone wanting some extra protection for their chairs.
I always find it hilarious how much the price bothers people who have never used a good seat. Yes it's sticker is fairly steep but look at what you get. 12 year warranty, lots of comfort not getting up from in the desk feeling like you can't move. How many of those other chairs would you buy over the life of this one?
I actually bought one of these based on Jay's recommendation and I love it. I'm just as tall as Jay (6'4") and a few more pounds (360) and this chair works great for me. No issues doing the tricep dip-style pushup to get out of it, and the back pain I had from my old chair went away entirely. I do wish the seat cushion was a bit thicker, but that's because of how big I am. If you're under 330 lb./150 kg, there are zero flaws with this chair, and it's definitely worth the money. 9/10 if you're over 330 lb./150 kg.
ERA office chairs are based in LA. You might want to take a look at them, especially their Galaxy. I like them because they also make "extra wide" versions of their models for the big and tall guys out there. The three problems I have always had with chairs was quality, height and width. Quality because I'm sick of dealing with bonded leather that turns into shit after 3 years and castors that cannot handle a heavy guy. Height because I don't want my legs going numb because my feet are carrying my weight. And width because even chairs that look comfortable still have armrests that rub on your sides as you sit. I've already had to replace one Ikea chair that broke because of shoddy castors and another Lazy Boy (shame on you) where the fake leather is just impossible to maintain and the foam no longer has support. Fortunately it's easy to fix the height issue since you can get replacement pneumatic seat posts in various sizes and use a rubber mallet to take it off the base. ERA aren't cheap though - a full leather chair from them can go for as much as $3000 and they use automotive Katzkin leather (also LA based). From what I've heard the FAA are one of ERA's customers since ATC guys demand a no-compromise chair to work in. That's a solid endorsement on quality right there.
16:01 I don't know if this is a "big guy" thing, or really a "tall guy" thing. I'm tall and thin, but this is my absolute go to way to sit at my desk. I don't know why I do it, I just notice it because my legs ends up going numb. One ankle under the opposite thigh, I switch it back and forth both ways.
Same! But I'm a shorter guy myself! I found out I sit like this because my feet are dangling when my arms are positioned comfortable on my desk, so either my desk is too high, or my legs too short.
This looks excellent. I'm around 370lbs, 6'2", and watch everything on my PC, not TV, so I sit here all the time, and I struggle to find comfortable chairs that fit my size and stay comfortable. I'm in Norway though, so I suspect, if they ship here at all, it will cost a lot :P As the chair already do, but it would being high quality and all. But I need it.
I have never found a chair I really like. There's always some issue that prevents me from buying it but this looks like it truly checks all the boxes :o
Never tried this model but I did sit in a Steel Case Leap v2 and it was the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. I currently use a Teknion Contessa II aka an Okamura (Japanese/Italian design built in EU) which is similar to the Embody that places you in the ideal posture. The ergo chairs that give you the best posture tend to take a couple weeks for your back to adjust to it due to not having the muscles needed to support your back but are the better option in the long run.
As an above knee (left, thank god) amputee, I'm kinda forced to use the arm rest to stand. The weakest point of every chair I've used. Jay, how strong is it? I like the under desk fold down feature of the rests too. Please keep us updated to how those arm joints hold up so I can justify the $$$$ without a go fund me account!! Love all your stuff....
From all the research I've been doing on these the arms remain rock solid after the longest I've found is two years of use. The good part is this is an American based company with a 12 year bumper to bumper warranty on these chairs. They even warranty the fabric which is pretty much unheard of. They also pay the shipping from what I've been able to find. I just ordered a Gesture for myself. I justify it with up until now the most I'd spend on a chair was $500 or less with $500 being the most expensive I've bought which is my Secret Labs Titan XL. I've had it two years and am just not completely happy with it. The seats a bit hard for my tastes and the back just doesn't fit me right. The wife however loves it so she'll be inheriting it. About the price budget, before this Titan I've had to buy a new chair almost every year. So even though the Gesture I just ordered was $1258 with all the bells and whistles, (head rest and added lumbar), as well as Indiana state tax. That would mean my budget for yearly replacement over the next 12 years would be $104.83 per chair. I can tell you from experience at that price level you're not getting anything built well enough to last or very comfortable for prolonged sitting. That's something a lot of people don't think about when pricing anything really is how long will it last before needing replacement. With Steelcase it's a 12 year warranty from a company located here in the States and from what I've found their chairs last much longer than that. Hope all this word salad helped in some way and I truly hope you find the chair that will work for you...
Thanks for your order! Ok Jay, you convinced me...ok so I have been waiting for some time to upgrade my chair and a gaming chair isn't an option (they suck). I did some research and bit the bullet and got a custom Steelcase Gesture With Headrest and with Jays discount, it was a no brainer. I will review it and report back
Just ordered one. They’re on sale for 15% off until The end of the year and Jay’s code stacks (kind of; I ended up with more like 20% off, so $1176 for a $1470 chair.)
Welcome to the steelcase club. I have the gesture high back at home and bought one for my office as well. Fun fact, they have a coat rack accessory for it too so I can hang my jacket on the back without draping over the seat itself.
Phil is going to hate this chair, his feet won’t touch the ground. Big/tall guys tend to love this chair based on the 37 reviews I’ve read/watch on it. I ordered a “Red Hot” (Jay we’ll get it) red Gesture with headrest this afternoon. It will match my 1LE. Evidently Jay and I like similar stuff.
My wife is a designer that sells Steelcase and a couple other brands. I got lucky that one of these Gesture chairs sans headrest came in the wrong color. They let us buy it for cheap. I have been using it for a couple of years, and will never go back to a cheap office chair. I am a big guy as well, 300 lbs and 6'3, and have had zero issues with this chair over that time. I tend to keep the back lock in the second position while working/gaming and drop it to the third position when watching content. The spring tension still holds my weight very well in that in between area of back position 2 and 3. My advice would be, if you want one of these, go to a local office interior store. They will often have these on the sales floor. Try it out, and maybe, if you are lucky, they have one in the warehouse that didn't come in correctly for the customer and is just collecting dust.
Horray for upgrades!! just got me a Herman Miller aeron chair 🥰 9:17....lol yeah cuz that's how you test the tension... instead of sitting in it . Of course it's hard to pull it back with just your hands 🤦
I was actually going to buy the X-Chair because it felt so damn good when I sat in it due to the Lumbar support, but now I'm thinking I might want this guy. I really hope they have somewhere I can sit in this baby in Vancouver Canada.
"Oh nice a new chair I could use one. "
Looks up chair and price
Over $1,000
Looks at current chair
"yea I'm good."
😂😂🤣🤣
A $1300 chair (Before shipping) is out of reach for 90% of us.
I think it's closer to $1500..Not worth it for this guy.
I did the same thing hahaha $1200 on Amazon, I'm good with my POS haha
We have Steelcase chairs at the office, and when they replaced them with a newer model, I talked supervisor in selling me my old chair. Absolutely brilliant chairs!
I was sold on getting this chair. As a 6ft 3 260lbs dude, The lumbar and neck support would help alot. When I heard $1300 ..my heart and hopes sank. God I wish I had this 😭
youre too tall for a discord mod but I guess almost heavy enough
As a 6-foot two-and-a-half in 235 lb. Man, I completely agree. If only really nice stuff was cheap
you can find a steelcase gesture at some used office furniture stores for much less; about 400. Thats how i got a Humanscale Freedom for about 350. I have found an Aeron for about 400
I'm 6"2, I grabbed the secret lab titan and love it its cheaper and really good for tall people, no issues with lacking lumbar support or having to arch your legs duee to the seat being the wrong height, give it a try if you can or just return it if you don't like it
Im 6’6” 300 lbs, wont be buying this chair that costs more than a scalped GPU lol.
@@psihius I know, it's amazing. I'm gonna look around for that. Thanks.
srsly 13 bucks? man thats real nice.
Nice find!
wtf
It beats anything I've ever owned.
when is that sale roughly?
@@rickv5004 Right now
I've had this chair for almost two years now, it's amazing and love the arm flexibility. Still going strong. Very good choice.
Yup, 10000% worth it.
and when anyone as 1k to drop on a chair then will remember that
It doesn't get much more honest than this folks...at least it's from someone who uses the product and knows what the hell he's talking about. quite refreshing these days.
When I started working from home part time almost ~4 years ago I bought a Gesture; by far the best purchase I've made, can't recommend these chairs enough!
Upgraded my crappy racing style chair to a Steelcase when I started working from home. Best purchase i've made.
"This is the most important update to our office yet!"
Me: A real server?
Also me seeing a big ass box: Definitely a server!
Jay: CHAIRS!
Don't worry. I thought the same thing.
I sit in a desk/office chair all day. I can definitely say that Jay, is not wrong. I spent about $1k on my chair, and I don't regret a thing, all these years later.
@@madness1931 I just wish my chair at work was anywhere near as nice as my chair at home
I own this chair because at 6'2" and 300lbs, most chairs weren't rated for my weight. Plus it's rated for like 12 hours of use. I spend 10-12 hours on my PC for work. Love this chair!!!
I found that these things are actually rated for 24/7 use in like call centers and such...
@@PreacherwithoutaPulpit Meaning they are rated for 12 hours of use without putting strain on your back, not the product...
@@TheMrModders lol tell us what chair you have because I think you're lying.
no I had my $130 chair for 8 years and only got ride of it because of moving I gave it away
Sure it may improve the taste marginally but doesn't solve the problem.
only had my aeron chair for a week or so now and I don't even really care for a headrest, how it naturally positions my back I don't feel it's needed. but everyone has different preferences
also I really like the mesh over passing as well
I have a Herman Miller but need to replace it, it only lasted 6 months before falling apart, it was in good condition when I got it from an office auction, but very quickly wore out in many different ways since using it while working from home :(. There's a Steelcase showroom near me so I might go check out these chairs see if they are any better (and if they have a good warranty).
shit $1,989 AUDea
@@Phat_Plants For something that costs ~$1300 USD, $1989 AUD is actually very good, USD prices rarely include tax but the AUD price includes 10% tax so with current exchange rate that is pretty much bang on for price parity which is a refreshing change :)
Finally, a propper chair on a tech channel instead of those "gaming" trash cans called, chairs :D
I have tried the Gesture and some others, but decided the LEAP just fits me so perfect, and the warranty, and the experience I had buying it, and now sitting in it for more than 2 years in my job that is 12h shifts in front of the screen, I can tell you, I is the best money spent ever! :D
3:02 Great transition Phil. Reminds me of Home Improvement
I knew that transition reminded me of something. Good catch.
3:30... pop denied :D
19:40: that smile says more then words
sitting in a good chair makes a world of a difference!
I have an Aeron and love it. Added an Atlas headrest. I could sit in this chair all day.
@@gaaalavant I have the larger Engineered Now model. I also have the older Aeron having has it for 5-6 years now.
Hell yeah! love mine and the headrest.

Ah the ole PFT
Add this training to Parris Island / San Diego. Recruits all meditating on the PT field on exercise balls 🤣

Steelcase is life!!!! Design 10, functionality 10, Durability 10
I got the steelcase series 2 as a graduation present from college. By far the nicest chair I have had. The seat is firm but still comfortable.
I'd love a chair like that but $1300 US is way out of my budget right now.
Go with secret labs. There chair's are amazing and 5 year warranty. I had a tare in the seat and they replaced the entire seat no questions.

Most of those features are evident in my eight year old Steelcase Leap V2, which is why I still own it. Awesome chairs. Second to none.
First mod - five point harness for the REALLY scary games!
I use Steelcase chairs. They are the best. I’ve had my most recent one 6 years and still my favorite chair.
It's nice to see the gesture getting some love. I didn't even realize it was that versatile. Great vid.
I've had a Steelcase Leap v2 for several years and it's absolutely amazing. Makes all these "gamer" chairs look and feel terrible.
Those "gamer" chairs look and feel terrible just fine on their own. 😋
I bought one of the Leap V2's from one of the big refurb places that reupholstered the seats with double thickness foam. Like half the price custom colors. Great value. Can't go wrong.
No way, literally same as me. I was fed up of having crappy gaming chairs that suck. One of the best things I have brought
As a short guy, I've had the same issue as Phil, so I've been looking into the secretlab chair for smaller people, and I honestly don't care about gamer.stuff as long as it's comfy and will last. Would be interested to see Phil try one of those and see what he thinks.
@@hotstovejer I love my secretlab chair I really do I have the new model with upgraded lumbar and it has helped my back 100%
I pick up one of these a couple weeks ago and I am happy with it.
Sign me up too! (It's funny, I read this comment and straightened up in excitement to write this 😂 and now we return to our regular lean)
Just FYI.
Thanks Jay, now I have a new chair on the way!
@3:40 I love the reveal pull off of blue plastic to have another layer of blue plastic.
Did you buy one with the standard seat height adjustment option, or did you get the one with higher seat height adjustability?
This video is 9 months old can we get an update now that the chairs are broken in, thanks
As a big M.F myself, picking a chair out is just as important as the monitor you chose to play games on. saveing up for this now.
Thanks for your order! Ok Jay, you convinced me...ok so I have been waiting for some time to upgrade my chair and a gaming chair isn't an option (they suck). I did some research and bit the bullet and got a custom Steelcase
Gesture With Headrest and with Jays discount, it was a no brainer. I will review it and report back
Just ordered one. They’re on sale for 15% off until The end of the year and Jay’s code stacks (kind of; I ended up with more like 20% off, so $1176 for a $1470 chair.)
Honestly for somebody who’s 6’3” with a broken gaming chair cause I sat in it wrong, every time you give input on chair it REALLY helps ‼️
Welcome to the steelcase club. I have the gesture high back at home and bought one for my office as well. Fun fact, they have a coat rack accessory for it too so I can hang my jacket on the back without draping over the seat itself.
I have an office chair I found in the garbage :) so happy with it
Mine came from a skip from an office. It's a 500 chair!!
Im glad jay supports a real chair not secretlab world of shit…
Horray for upgrades!!
just got me a Herman Miller aeron chair 🥰
9:17....lol yeah cuz that's how you test the tension... instead of sitting in it . Of course it's hard to pull it back with just your hands 🤦
Holy crap, Jay! The way you hug the bag of air to try & pop it is literally the EXACT same thing I do with those things to pop them fast & loud!
I really love and need a chair like this for my back, been having issues for years. But 1450 dollar is waaay out of my budget sadly 😥
There are companies that refurbish these and sell them used with fresh foam and stuff. Much cheaper. Around $400 if I remember right
I was actually going to buy the X-Chair because it felt so damn good when I sat in it due to the Lumbar support, but now I'm thinking I might want this guy. I really hope they have somewhere I can sit in this baby in Vancouver Canada.
