19 Points ! but i didn't play any instrument music, but i usually playing music games like VOS (virtual orchestra studio) , O2jam , deemo , anything mobile dance music / game music notes. But, I usually listening to instrumental music. Can I become a musician someday?
21 and thank you. I’ve been teaching guitar and music since I was 15. Studying music since I was 5. I’m 71 years young and people still ask if it’s too late to take up an instrument. These tests are a great way to evaluate their abilities to succeed. I’ve been retired for 11 years due to health reasons. I can still use tools like this for those who wish to start later in life. Not to discourage others but without an ear for tones, it might be cruel to give anyone false hope. I used to give this type of test when I was actively teaching but this has been a reminder of how to address musical ability in new students. Young or old, we need people that just enjoy listening. Stay well and again, thank you. ✌️💙😎🎼
Curious. I have tinnitus in my right ear and, the hearing specialists (several of them) tell me I have high-frequency deafness in that ear. I can hear speech on that side but not understand it. Apparently this is because the deafness removes the vowel sounds. Whatever the explanation, you have to sit to my left if you want me to hear you properly. Also, I have no idea where a sound originates. This was a sudden-onset condition that led me to give up on classical guitar. I did take up piano, mostly because it's louder (perhaps more accurate to say that the sound has more 'body') and no tuning is involved. I managed 18 in this test which is quite encouraging. Playing an instrument absolutely does make a difference. That's not to say I will be playing at Carnegie Hall anytime soon. Pretty sure the Town Hall is closed to me :)
18 points. Took guitar lessons when I was 12 for about 3 months. Never finished but did well during class and enjoyed it. Am now 60 and took this and your previous test. Both putting me at above average missing only 2 points each both times for questions involving more than one answer. Think I am a tad slow to respond for the 2nd part of the answer. Made me feel great as I am now listening to a lot of music and interested in if I can pick up different voices and development of those voices over the years.
I got 20. I can't sing or hold a tune to save my life. But I've been listening to all kinds of music ever since I was very little and have always tried to remember melodies and voice pitches and to recognize different instruments so I guess it helps. Just don't let me sing, for your own sake.
Perfect score, 21. At the risk of bragging, I'm not surprised. My musical ear is quite incredible. I can hear pitches and such. Play me a note, I'll identify it. Tell me to hum a specific note and I'll nail it. Now, realistically, I know I'm not at the top. I've seen videos of young kids doing some pretty amazing things. This guy played a bunch of notes on a piano at once and his son correctly identified every single note without even blinking. That's quite a bit above my abilities. I have to hear those same notes plastered again and again, and after enough time I might be able to correctly identify them. Still, I'm very proud of my ear for what it is.
18 or 20. I got question 8 wrong twice for some reason, and got the last question correct the first time then heard 4 & 7 the second time. I'm 62 now, I used to play the piano a lot in my 20's and 30's: Joplin, Chopin, Schumann, Bach, Mozart, etc. But I sight read very poorly, so learning anything new is a struggle. I want to start playing again, you're motivating me.
Got 16 on this, updated version, compared to 14/15 on the previous one These results definitely make more sense. Found it interesting that in a couple of questions with multiple answers my answers were "shifted" by one in the same direction
19 points! I've been in choir for years and years, but I don't really know how to read music (it's all memory learning for me). This was a fun test, it really made me think and made me realize that I'm more capable of understanding pitch than I thought.
Woow, I rated above average! That's a nice surprise 😊. I enjoy music and would like to sing, but thought I wouldn't have good ear. This is encouraging. Thank you! And special thanks for the explanation of the results. Really appreciated it 🙏
I got 17 points. I am a multi-disciplined visual artist that loves to sing with a choir. I think I would improve my pitch memory if I trained. Honestly, I know I can’t remember a note sequence 2 minutes after singing through several times with my poor choir director. Sometimes I feel so sorry for him. I totally get why he never asks me to sing a solo part.
18 points. Played guitar for less than a year more than 35 years ago as a teenager. Just recently picked it up again, learning on my own, per se, only watching videos on RUclips.. Nice to know that I at least have an above average ear. Thanks for this video.
21 amazing test. After 8 years of classical guittar and 3 years of bass guitar i stop to play for a while :) its nice to see that my ear for tones is still in good shape
21. Started to first play piano by ear when I was 3 years ago but have taken about 7 years of lessons since. Still play better by ear than by reading music😂
19 points. I've always enjoyed music and dabbled in piano as a kid. But I'm curious if this translates into languages as well because I'm fairly good at picking up languages quickly and discerning subtle differences in accents and pronunciations!
Ahh, missed on 8 and 9. I'm almost 68 yo and I scored an 18. Not bad. Only musical training was high school chorus. One brother and my mother were musically inclined. Loved the test. Thank you
18 points. I study piano for 5 years now. Also learned guitar almost 40 years ago but played only a few years. Now I starting to learn electric guitar too :)
I got 17 points played in band and also learned from my grandpa to play guitar. Musically talented on my moms side of the family but I also just have always loved music. Really appreciate your videos very helpful and enjoyable 😁
21 points! I got 15/15 in the previous one of these also! I have never played and instrument, nor taken a class in music. It's pretty cool to know I have a good ear!
Scored 18 on this test, some of the multi choises question i got 1 of 2 right or 2 out of 3 right in the scale scenarios, and question 8 I wronged. But I do not play any instruments, but I grew up with a very musical talented father that plays: Key harp ALOT , flute, acoustic guittar, sitar, harmonica & mouthy on the sides whenever hes not playing Kay harp, must be what helpt to develop a keen ear, also listen to music alot on a regular basis.
Interesting. I scored perfect on this and your previous "ear test" video. I played the organ for maybe 6 years and the guitar on and off for four decades. I've been told I have a good ear but I can't sing a single note to save my soul...
A perfect score could be either "perfect" pitch or excellent "relative" pitch. Fun fact: I was born with perfect pitch, but it dropped almost a half tone when I had an autoimmune disease that disturbed my memory. I now have to mentally "transpose" to be able to accurately determine the "concert pitch" of a note out of context.
I got 21, which is kinda weird because I can't sing to save my life! I played piano for a while as a kid but haven't played an instrument in many years. I guess it stuck with me, though!
I got 18 points, I only ever took a piano class in college for fun. Really struggled with having both hands playing different things, it just frustrated me too much. Honestly surprised I got this high a score, but I've listened to a lot of music since I was a kid so that's probably it.
This test left me pondering for a bit if you are actually joking about the highest score or not, as I couldn't figure out how I could only make 19 points with one mistake, while the highest score is 21. I was looking over my list of answers again and again, being sure I just didn't count it right. Turns out I assumed every answer option is one point, while question 5 was actually two points for a single option... Now I'm just disappointed I'm in the "above average" category with measly 20 points. Not to brag, but I wouldn't consider 21 points being pitch perfect or anything exceptional at all, 'cause I found the test to be very basic (I'm not an educated musician, but I love music and I know a thing or two about the theory that I picked up from some tutorial videos and folks I know). I'm not too old, but I can see I'm struggling with distinguishing higher frequencies. Each time I was asked to identify a note on a scale, I was doubting my answers at the higher pitch. Got one of them wrong, but a few more I doubted, so yeah, not impressive. Great effort on the test, though, so thank you very much! For anyone interested, there is also a website that can test your ability to hear which tone is higher, gradually narrowing the gap between them to the point where they almost sound the same. Can't say how to find it now, as I took it a very long time ago, but I think you could google it pretty easy.
I scored a 6. I got the first 4, then missed the first 2 pointer and got question 6 and 7 correct, but after that everything went over my head. After the test I went in for a second time for that first 2 pointer and even knowing the answer I just couldn't hear it correctly. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I have difficulty in following a conversation if there are loud background noises. I have to focus really hard if I want to follow the conversation my friends are having, even if we are equal distance apart. Everything just seems to get washed out. I still enjoy music though 🙂
I scored 19 on this test. I missed the 2nd note on #9 & #13 by one number. Scored 13 on the other test missing #11 & #14. I played the guitar when I was 16 till around 19 then stopped playing until recently when my best friend gave me an acoustic guitar for this past Christmas. Just turned 48 in October. I also ruptured my left eardrum when I was 5yrs old. So I'm somewhat surprised that I did well on either of these tests. Anyway it was fun to try.😊
18points, with just 2 years of music education some 25-30years ago. Missed a question where I counted the tones from higher note starting from the end of the sequence.
20 points. Last question I got 3 and 5 instead of 3 and 6 :). However, I don't regularly play any instrument at all. I do want to start with piano though, music is love to my ears!
I scored 17/21. I learned an instrument for 1 year in basic school, but when I had to choose an instrument I wanted a piano instead of erm... the ones that you have to draw and pull together while played notes... whatever this is called in english. But we couldn't afford a piano, so I kinda stopped at it for over 15 years. With my first salary at 21 or 22 I bought me a veery cheap keyboard just for practicing and love of music. After a year or so I kinda forgot it and when I turned 29 2 years ago, I picked it up again after hearing a piano version of my most loved video game music of all time composed by Yoko Shimomura, which I consider a masterpiece and would call it "modern classic". I screwed up 1 point in question 8, I guessed 4 but it was 3. Another on in question 9, I guessed 2 & 5 but it was 1 and 5. And another two in question 10, I guessed 1, 2 & 6 but it was 1,3 & 7. So that's the only mistakes I took, and these are actually kinda close, so I'll be proud of me for once. Love & greetings from germany! :)
17..... I screwed up with the remembering parts because you went too fast, though I did hear the difference I just was still thinking about the other note and lost track of where I was so I just threw out a random guess in the general area which I was 1 off.
Fun quiz, I scored a 17. I figured I would score poorly because I can not sing to save my life but I can play a bit of guitar so at least my ears are in good shape ;)
20. i got one of them wrong on #9 but considering its almost midnight and im on day 3 of no sleep my ears seem to be the one bit of me functioning pretty well LOL
I got 17 right. Never studied music but I did dance. Interestingly I got last one right but the ones in middle that supposedly were more straightforward was harder for me 😅
This was confusing to me because I was thinking the KEY of A or B, not the choices between the two. Maybe choice '1' vs. choice '2'? (That being said, '21'!)
19? I mean i play guitar and sing but not very actively. I feel like this quiz is a little boosted? or i just have a pretty good hearing i guess. i only fucked up on 1 number of +2 question so idk how that works.
To understand just how utterly bizarre many, if not most, of your questions are, picture a box containing about a dozen nearly identical pencils, arranged in ascending order, around ten inches, or 25 cm, in height, each varying by only a couple of millimeters from its two adjacent neighbors. Say their height varies within no more than an inch, in total, since 12 x 2 = 24 mm, and 1 inch = 25.4 mm. You can obviously identify them, when you see them grouped together. But when one is randomly taken out of the set, and the rest are thrown away, you can have only a rather vague idea, in your mind, of whether it is among the shortest few, or the tallest few, or the medium not-so-few. Unless you're bloody `Rain Man`, you can't tell them apart, separately, or individually, with any meaningfully satisfactory accuracy. Arguing that «the comparison is inadequate, since the gamut's top note possesses twice the frequency of its bottom note» would be inappropriate, since sense organs perceive their respective stimuli in a logarithmic, rather than linear fashion.
Is it still valid if i had to listen multiple times to the harder questions? I'm sure someone who did the same point but at first try is better then one with same score but before aswering heard multiple times
Very interesting. Would be nice if someone can explain my poor score of only 9. Not sure if one is allowed to listen to each task twice or several times before giving an answer, as I gave my results on one hearing. Even so, I have always been told ever since a kid that I had a good ear for music. My school picked me out to enrol in music as I was able to cover songs quicky without music sheets, (poorly, mind you... with one finger on the piano or one finger picking at the guitar lol). So, how is it that most commenters here did far better than my efforts? Could it be that my memory is fading or just plain thick?
It is difficult to be able to rapidly switch between pitch sets instead of staying in the same one. The fact that you can "cover" songs means you have an excellent ability, but your memory may be too good, retaining pitches from the previous example which would then skew your answers.
It's never to late do learn or/and do something you like to do. I was playing piano as a kid; when I tried it again after 20 years, I couldn't find enough dexterity especially in my left hand (I'm right handed) - so that might be a problem. Bu you'll never know until you try it.
19 Points ! but i didn't play any instrument music, but i usually playing music games like VOS (virtual orchestra studio) , O2jam , deemo , anything mobile dance music / game music notes. But, I usually listening to instrumental music. Can I become a musician someday?

Got a 19 but never really played any instrument. Having loved listening to music this is such a pleasant surprise...

Lost 3 or 4 points. Sometimes, I would need more time. Aged 63. Ooooops. And yes. Thank you. As always.
I got a score of 21, but I come from a musical family & have been playing piano, flute & bass guitar for very a long time. Thanks for the fun test. 💕🙏
21 points! A little surprised, I’ve always thought I had a pretty good ear, but I did better than I expected. Lots of fun, thanks for the exercise!
you are so welcome! Thank you for taking the test! :)

it isn't that hard to learn eespecially if you are young..
Woow, I rated above average! That's a nice surprise 😊. I enjoy music and would like to sing, but thought I wouldn't have good ear. This is encouraging. Thank you! And special thanks for the explanation of the results. Really appreciated it 🙏
12 points. I haven't learnt any instrument but I love listening to music. Should I start learning something? Piano and Violin are my favourites.
19 points... not bad at all...!!!!
21 points and only relative pitch!
21 ! Have played violin since I was 8, Was told by my music teacher aged 14 I had perfect pitch when I said the piano was out of tune!
18 points. Played guitar for less than a year more than 35 years ago as a teenager. Just recently picked it up again, learning on my own, per se, only watching videos on RUclips.. Nice to know that I at least have an above average ear. Thanks for this video.

happy with 15, think the last 4 years using fl studio and making my own music has helped.
21 - I have good note awareness but don't have perfect pitch.
Thanks!!! This was a fun exercise. :)
Ahh, missed on 8 and 9. I'm almost 68 yo and I scored an 18. Not bad. Only musical training was high school chorus. One brother and my mother were musically inclined. Loved the test. Thank you

Great to have you back Michael.
I got 19, it's been almost a year since I last played the violin. I need to practice, but college. I hope I'd play again any time soon.
19. this test was a lot of fun. I am a bari sax player but have trouble with pitch in more complex settings.
i got them all right and have only played trumpet 1 year in school 40 years ago. No other training
Loved the quiz. What was the piece of music that you played at the end?
19 of 21. I need more practice!! Thanks for this videos!! It´s very funny!
I got 21, which is kinda weird because I can't sing to save my life! I played piano for a while as a kid but haven't played an instrument in many years. I guess it stuck with me, though!
I got 21 points. I certainly don’t have perfect pitch, but good relative pitch. A fun test. Thanks.

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I have difficulty in following a conversation if there are loud background noises. I have to focus really hard if I want to follow the conversation my friends are having, even if we are equal distance apart. Everything just seems to get washed out.
I still enjoy music though 🙂
i used to play the piano when i was 4 y/o, i don't play anything now, but i want to learn bass, i got 18 p, i feel great!!
17 points. Music education as a child, some piano lessens and than 12 years I play finger cymbals.
20 points. Whenever I hear a note or tone that goes flat I wince automatically.
21 thank you! Studying music since I was 8. Thanks for the exercise.
18points, with just 2 years of music education some 25-30years ago. Missed a question where I counted the tones from higher note starting from the end of the sequence.
20 points. Last question I got 3 and 5 instead of 3 and 6 :). However, I don't regularly play any instrument at all. I do want to start with piano though, music is love to my ears!
this video is intended to make you feel better than you really are. I got 21 and definetly dont have perfect pitch
Very few people have perfect pitch. People with perfect pitch can sing a note with no reference. Relative pitch is attainable for most of us, however.
me too!
Modesty is a sign of perfect pitch.
Possibly.
Hello! Amazing video, congrats :). I got 21. Although can I ask the name of the piece at the end of the video when you were showing the point system?
That's "por una cabeza"
19. Glad I got a good score, I sing with a choir each week and really enjoy singing in my job in a school too. This was an interesting test.
Very cool! Did better than I thought I would with a score of 20. Messed up one on Question 10.
What song were you playing at the end? I recognized it, but I don't know the name - just that I associate it with dancing for some reason.
Me too and it's a real pain in the, well ear drums maybe, not able to pin it down.
18 pts. Loved this video. Keep these tests coming .. :)
Great exercise) I got 18/21 and definitely will send this challenge to my friend)
This videos are moving the goal just for them to score, make them feel happy... and get some customers on the trade
There was only one or two points I barely missed. I'm a musical composer and trained since childhood.
I took 20 points🤩 this video helped me so much! Tyyy❤😊
21 points, nice
Thank you for sharing my friend
Any training exercises?
21 points, wished for a few more levels of difficulty🌟
17..... I screwed up with the remembering parts because you went too fast, though I did hear the difference I just was still thinking about the other note and lost track of where I was so I just threw out a random guess in the general area which I was 1 off.
21. But I don't have perfect pitch.
Now, THAT's a lot of fun. (21 helps. lol). I just blurted out my first thought. Got a bit nervous on a couple of them. 🎶
21 :) Ive touched piano lessons for a month or so and I'm honestly surprised
17 points, i guess its coz i play the piano
that's awesome! I'm also a pianist :)
13 points which is certainly better than the other test, again it’s clear pitch is decent but outside of that not much else.
I got 17. If you are ever in San Diego, I would like to hear you play the piano and also play chess with you. Do you have a chess rating? 😊
So much fun! Got 21, but perfect pitch is far too generous!
What's the name of the track you play at the end?
18, I played flute in band back in middle school.
What is the tune you're playing at the end?
Por Una Cabeza
@@TakaD20 Thank you!!!
@@NikosKoukos-ui5go You are very welcome. I'm kinda fanatical when I hear a melody I know but can't put my finger on it. ;)
I did get 21 but I actually learn music so idk if I’ll count as perfect pitch 😅
I got 21 but I don't have perfect pitch. A former guitar teacher told me I have relative perfect pitch.
Is it still valid if i had to listen multiple times to the harder questions? I'm sure someone who did the same point but at first try is better then one with same score but before aswering heard multiple times
Full score, i love music. Music is my life.
18 points, I did play flute when I was little!
Got 19. I had studied electronic keyboard for 2-3 years but it's been more than 10yrs since the last time I played 😂😂😂
Wow 19. Listening to piano helps me get great points
I got 14 and I never played an instrument. I also have 50db hearing loss in both ears
Wow what is the name of this music?
Ridiculous easy - perfect pitch here
9:30 i felt a hard time to keep up with the numbers of questions and numbers.
I got 20
20. Only got the very last note wrong.
Couldn't read the results with the amazing piano on the back, but it was fun
21. I could play the piano by ear when I was 5 years old.
That's so awesome! I've also started when I was 5!! You should check my piano videos on this channel😊 do you have any recordings?
I have 17, i played piano for 3 years when i was child.
21!!!! Should I take piano lessons? I am 70. Too late?
It's never to late do learn or/and do something you like to do. I was playing piano as a kid; when I tried it again after 20 years, I couldn't find enough dexterity especially in my left hand (I'm right handed) - so that might be a problem. Bu you'll never know until you try it.
I thought i could sing ok but with a 16 i think ill keep silent now :(
