I remember this one; NED never recentered herself within her lane after coming out of the turn and was running within inches of her left side lane line. When viewed from the front camera (not shown here), NED's arms were flailing wildly over into SUI's lane. NED then clipped SUI's arm swing, throwing her stride off. It was definitely interference and NED should have been disqualified.

No, the Netherlands runner hit her arm as it was coming back which threw her off her stride. You can see that from a front view. I think Netherlands would have won anyway but the other woman wouldn’t have fallen.

Even if no contact, encroaching onto another lane is a good way to throw someone off by even microseconds and this is a sport determined by microseconds. Imagine driving through a highway and another car does that to u it will hinder u at least mentally and u take the foot off the gas by even a little. Even encroaching is a sign of someone trying to affect you. Instead of just focusing on moving forward ur now thinking about the right hand side. Maybe she brushes u maybe she doesn’t but it’s a (sneaky) tactic for sure.

I saw this before and without the help of 'other angles', I could tell there was no serious contact. Shorty knew she was going to get tipped so she dove.

This is what I give credit to short people in pro-sport; They work 3x more effort just to keep up with the tall people. Can you imagine if she was as tall as her opponents, she'll destroy every chick there.
Shorter and lighter legs may also result in faster strides. But yeah, nothing is better than being tall.

yes, you're correct. That's one of the major reasons I stopped running, "I was too tall” and it became harder. Where I grew up at the time there were no coaches available to train for techniques and stamina as they do now. I'm grateful for the times that have changed to produce taller athletes like Usain who really worked hard and didn't make that aspect a limitation, even with his scoliosis condition. it's just amazing and a delight to me when I see human stallions and giraffes defying the impossible in certain sports.

The taller runner also has to carry more weight and requires more to accelerate but when up to speed the longer stride gets easier to maintain that speed

Having read some of the comments. Some people have accused the Nederland runner of interfering with the Swiss runner; costing her the win.
I replayed the video over and over, just as the judges would have done and yes, she was on the edge of her OWN lane; of which she is allowed to move wherever she wants, so long as it is within her OWN lane. Please play the video back over and over again and then point out to me at what point the Nederland runner actually comes into contact with the Swiss runner or crossed over into her lane.
I thought they were both phenominal runners who showed excellence on the day. One for having an incredible finish and one for having the ability to catch up and seal the deal.

The tall runner vered into the runners lane,on her left, and should have been disqualified.
She did run into her lane, but the little one wasn’t touched. You can see that at the tall girl’s pace, the little one wasn’t going to win anyways.
Tall girl was in her lane tho, if you watch another video showing the front direction, you'll see there was absolutely no contact between the two of them
