Common Mistakes when setting up Twin Carbs for a Mini

  • I ran across a pair of twin carbs in my workshop and decided to have a look at them.
    When dealing with twin carbs, you must do as much as possible to get them to be as balanced as possible while operating equally. This will help your motor run smoothly as well as developing as much power as you can.
    Both sets of carbs had their throttle controls set improperly, their chokes, as well as the mixture jet positions.

    .003 difference in the jet depth is about 1/2 a flat on the jet nut.

      Which doesn't sound like much of a difference but at idle it is significant.

      @@darrensrestorations991 Curious, what tolerance are you using to set the float level? +-.003?

      @@hillarylevenworth8824 remember the needle is tapered and the the further down the jet is the greater the cross-sectional area of fuel is exposed to the air flow - fuel is metered by the available cross-sectional area at any give rpm - the float level is set by the tabs on the float not the jet
