Very nice documentary portraying our family friend, Raja Saheb Samarendra Sekhar Deo. My Grandfather, Diwan Sanyasi Angi Naidu, served as Diwan for Samarendra's Great Grandmother, Regent Rani Saheba Ratna Devi, and later for her son, Raja Bir Udit Pratap Sekhar Deo. I remember when visiting from U.S.A. for summer vacation to India as a young boy, we stayed in this Kishore Mahal Palace, and we slept in the upstairs bedroom, as was portrayed in this film. Sundargarh was the capital of the former Gangpur Princely State in Northern Orissa. I will always remember the kindness of Raja Samarendra's Grandmother, Rani Rukmani Devi Aunty, when she had a special Chicken Roast dinner prepared for me as a small boy when I arrived to the Kishore Mahal Palace the first day, and I was used to American food. She also ate the same meal with me. We still use the same chicken roast recipe each year when we celebrate Thanksgiving here in America. My father has always made it a point to tell me his childhood experiences at this palace, and I will continue to tell these stories to the next generation, my own children. Liked the video very much. Thank you for making this. After Independence, The state of Gangpur and Bonaigarh acceded to union of India and got merged to Odisha to form whole Sundargarh district. Formely Sundargarh was capital town of Gangpur.
If possible once you visit KUARMUNDA Zamindar's palace and Hatibari palace in ROURKELA. Though small but are important part in History of Sundargarh district and Rourkela.
Bro, please visit Gajapati Palace, once the state and today's generation should know Sri. KCGajapati, and his contribution towards making odisha in 1936.
