Just fished in Jacksonville for my first time & caught a 25” red because of these vids! Thank you guys so much!!! Update: went again the next day to new spots and CRUSHED the redfish again!!
I've been saying this stuff for the past 50 years. Wind also = current depending on velocity. Wind is not always the major factor. Water temperature is. Water temperature controls metabolism as well as dissolved oxygen in water. Very good video with the drone shots and Google Earth photos.
First off, good on yer. Congratulations on a job well done in this venture, it takes guts and perseverance to quit the rat race and hang your own shingle. Ive been watching your free stuff for (seems like) years and have gleaned countless great tips. I just joined ‘the club’ today, as much out of guilt for watching all your content for free as it was to get on the inside. Keep at it!
I struggle most with not having access to a boat and I am still learning to fish saltwater. I find your videos informative and am eager to try some of these strategies
Kevin here recent inside member anyways want to thank you I switched to braid. bought a decent Pole. and doubled my cast and honestly I don't know how I cought anything before it's just a whole nother world now. Very glad I took y'alls advice
AWESOME guys, thanks a bunch!! Sneads Ferry in the house! I've been doing the same thing for years, only fishing the areas I know, that's all about to change!!
Timeless concepts that apply to any bodies of water. The godfather of structure trolling, Buck Perry, said something very similar, in that people fish water that has 0% of the fish 90% of the time. Certain spots that were money for several years straight for pike and musky on my favorite lake were deserted the same times of year when the water level was a few feet higher and there was much less weed growth.
I can say this about before getting Salt Strong; if the fish I caught was all I was allowed to eat, I'd be dead right now... but man I just love fishing and being in the water....therefore, I got saltstrong and started learning, since then, I've caught the two biggest fish I've ever caught... a 36" Drum, and a Grouper... I can't wait to get back on the water.
Amazing information I'm fishing in California, san pedro area and right now start checking the rocks area where I going all the time with different results
Hi I'm living in Costa Rica and the Google Satellite images are really bad, not too much definition, so is really difficult to apply all the things that you are sharing, also not too much imagines, only some random images from the people, so I'm wondering how to read the beach or find good spot when we are blind like me, thanks for sharing, I'm really learning a lot with you guys, what you are doing is really great, keep going.
Never gets old. Great refresher and ensures that it stays fresh in my mind. That’s why I joined the club!!!!!!! Great stuff and information to help you. Become a better fisherman.
In case study #2 when you are fishing the potholes what part of the tide is it? I watched the video twice but didn't see if it was incoming or outgoind.
My water I winter is lemon bay. Winds last to days have being blowing super hard. My Big Fish 120 kayak Wizard anchor at stern and a 38 thrust trolling on left of my kayak. Plus a ruder
And you didn't fish that mound where the channel divides @ 20 min, where the bait fish flow into the fishes faces on the W end on the incoming and the E end on the outgoing. That's where the big trout gather.
What are the best apps I can use on my T-Mobile OnePlus 8T+5G cell phone or on my desktop to find the 90/10 rule? Google and Bing are so old here on the Chesapeake Bay, Eastern Shore, Virginia that I really can't get much help from those maps they are posting om 7-10 years ago.
I went fishing yesterday. I could not really find any water warmer than other places. I tried some of the spots on smart spots and did catch a couple sheepshead and a redfish.
New to the Texas area. Joined as an insider hoping this helps me learn the area.. Handicapped right now with no boat or kayak but hoping I find wade or bank spots that pay out!
A question for you. Going to fish in Norway soon. 90/10 is well known to me. So I totaly agree with You there. We are trying for Cod, Coalfish and others in a bit deeper water than your video explained. Have You got any experience from deeper reefs and were to fish the tide. In front of the reef were the current are hitting or in the slack water behind the reef?
I live in Crestview Florida and saltwater fish from shore. I don't know what where to look for the fish in the fort worth beach area. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks.

Is there some trick to making google earth more clear? When I fully zoom in things are substantially more blurry than what i saw on your video. Water is just a giant brown blur.
Same here. I don’t know if this works in brackish water where the satellite can’t see the bottom. What they’re saying still applies, but you have to use above-water structures, depth charts, and your knowledge of the bottom to figure out what’s going on.
Hi Guys . Great helpful video. Just not sure what am seeing when I google earth a area, trying to send you a picture , can you tell me where you would fish
it's just the area they are looking at, the water is very clear, especially compared to here in Louisiana... where I struggle identifying anything under the water from the map

This does apply to a good amount of other species, but definitely not all species because of the huge variety of fish that have much different behavior patterns.
Here in North Florida we have so many creeks its hard to find the fish because the fish are spread out within all the creeks. I didnt find this video helpful as most of North Florida falls in that 90% zone not including the ocean
Yes. Look for structure (timber, rocks, docks, grass beds, reeds), High points in deep areas, the lee end of islands etc. Works for all fish types pretty much. Fish in a lake have the same requirements pretty much as fish in the sea.
fish near the holes... fish by structure and points... fish near the edge of the grass.... fished by a dock and an oyster bed... uh.... whatever.... this is basic fishing I learned the first year I had a boat.
Thank you for your question! We have a massive library of fishing tips on our website along with a search feature to let you quickly filter down to find help you're looking for, so just go to www.saltstrong.com/ and use the Search feature in the top menu.
As shown in this lesson, a drone is definitely not needed because the online satellite mapping platforms show the same views for free and it's available 24/7. Also, you definitely don't need a boat either because many redfish, seatrout, snook, and flounder feed up in the shallows which can be accessed by foot or kayak in many cases... the key is to use the maps to find good looking spots that can be accessed by foot/paddle.
Unsubbing until we receive a public apology for your "like diamonds" chiming.. You're audibly assaulting thousands of innocent ppl with that 9 year old Rihanna pun 🤢😵😫😖🤮
I don't like the way you guys were handling the trout with dry hands, wiping off their protective coating. Please take more care in the future to wet your hands before handling them. Thank you. Other than that, I enjoyed your videos.
