Your way of explaining is very simple and understandable too! You are doing awesome work! Waiting for more regarding media resources and call related troubleshooting
was working with TAC on this. TAC said i didn't need to do a reboot after pre upgrade cop file. Did you mention why we need to do a reboot before upgrade?
@@CollaborationVideos But how can I delete unneeded firmware? The only way I know is in OS administration under Device Load Management. But there I can only delete firmware that is not in use...
Great video! But I have a question regarding the Guest OS setting in VM. You changed the Guest OS AFTER the upgrade an you set it to CentOS 8. But in the documentaion it should be CentOS 7. And in the Upgrade Guide (and several community posts) you have to change it BEFORE you start the upgrade.
thanks for your question. You can change the OS settings before or after. In fact, you can't choose CentOS 7 unless you upgrade the vm compatibility first, which I would wait until after the upgrade to do that.
Thanks for your great tutorial, I have a question, which one is recommend between switch version manually from CLI or automatically swicth version during upgrading when I upgrade CUCM Cluster?
Good question! I have done many upgrades so I usually do manual so I can control it. However, I would say that if it is a single server, then going with the automatic is probably fine. If you have two I would do manual so you can do them both after both are upgraded. That being said, Unity connection only does automatic and there is not option for manual switch version. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the video, we are about to upgrade the CUCM from 11.5 to 12.5, do you have any checklist to share it with the customer before the upgrade, please help.
Excellent video, but i have a question, i have a CUCM v 12.5 (1st version) just one publisher no subscribers in my envyroment, TAC engineers sugested me to make a rebuild of the server, i understand a rebuild like backup my actual CUCM, install a ne CUCM VM and restore from there, is that correct? Also, if my CUCM is version 12.5 1st version, the new VM has to be installed with that version or may i use the newer one?
Correct, you need to backup your CUCM. install the new one with the same ip address, host name, etc. Everything needs to be the same. Then restore the backup. You must use the same version as the backup. Then, after the restore you can upgrade. but the restore has to be the same version as the backed up version.
Thanks for the video. Gives lot of insights. Have couple of doubts, if you could help. 1) Do u have any videos for upgrading CUCM from 10.5.2 to 12.5.X 2) After upgrading cucm from 10.5.2 to 12.5.X do we get 3 months time to upload the licenses ?? Can we run the cluster with Evaluation licenses for 3 months ?? Pls suggest.
If you have permanent license, do you want it to be ordered...i believe we can download the iso file from cisco site and upgrade directly...i mean if you dont want to convert now and keep using the classic licenses
Unfortunately 12.5 requires smart licensing. Cisco has taken out the PLM so there is no way to put in the older permanent licenses. However, you can convert those licenses to smart licensing on the traditional licensing portal on cisco.com
Great Video. I hope you won't mind sharing your inputs on below queries. We have CUCM version 9.1 running and we have to upgrade it to version CUCM 12.5. Can we upgrade it directly or should we first upgrade to CUCM version 12 as ESXI version required for CUCM 12.5 is ESXI 6.5 UCS version running is UCS C220 M3S which is also end of sale and hardware support is about to end. So what you suggest should we move to CUCM cloud set up or should we get UCS C220 M5 or UCS C240 M5 We have this cluster of 3 nodes. To upgrade which method we need to prefer. I mean using PCS or manually.
Thanks for the video it is great one but I was having a concern which is how would we upgrade the cucm with the bootable image on the same VM I guess the error message we got when mounting the ISO image to the DVD is that the image is already bootable and it has to be non-bootable Looking forward to hearing from you
You should be able to upgrade with the bootable or non-bootable image. It's possible that the ISO you have has become corrupted. What is the error that you are getting when mounting it?
@@CollaborationVideos Thana for the info. I thought that I can only upgrade with the non-bootable image that's why I had concerns when I watched your video I saw that you are uploading the bootable image so I thought this was the reason of getting the error message that you got when you tried to initiate the upgrade process I didn't get any errors I only was commenting on the error message you got If it is possible to provide me with any documents including that we can upgrade with the bootable image just to to keep it for the future Thanks a lot.
We have to upgrade our call manager cluster from 9.1.2 to 12.5 using PCD.. We have PCD version 10.6 is in Place. Can anybody help me to understand if we also need to upgrade the PCD itself before starting the Call manager upgrade process ? What's the difference between PCD and prime collaboration assurance ?
You will need the latest 12 version of PCD. PCD is prime collaboration deployment and is meant for these kinds of upgrades and installs. Assurance is for monitoring.
Upgrade Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to 12.5
Let me know if you like this video Upgrade Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to 12.5

Awesome walk-through video for upgrading from 11.5 to 12.5. I learned the process through this video to perform our company’s CUCM upgrade.

Good luck and more power to your channel from Bangkok.
Thanks so much
Thank you so much! You saved me a lot of time in lab!
Excellent tutorial this is the most informative video upgrade the upgrade out there! kudos! keep it up
Great video, I think the firmware page you might actually want is Device, Device Settings, Device Defaults
Thanks for commenting. I know what you are thinking but Device Defaults is not where you can delete the firmware that is not needed. Thanks.

@@Gharwen I would recommend that you don't delete any firmware that is in use. But you are in the correct place to delete firmware that is not in use.
