I know this video is old, but I just wanted to say that this video is OUTSTANDING. Great playing, and gives a very thorough but not excessively long demo of all the features. I wish every demo video was made as well as this one!
Not to sound melodramatic, but that was the best product review / product detail video I've ever seen in my life. PERFECT. (And I watch a LOT of videos, especially on gear...yes, love to research what I buy). Excellllllent job, thanks man !
Fantastische demonstratie! Ik ben altijd blij als Harry Maes iets dat ik wil hebben heeft gereviewed, dan ben je in ieder geval altijd zeker van een compleet beeld van de mogelijkheden. Keep 'm coming!
@THE ACOUSTIC CAGE Yeah really. I'm here so I can make an informed decision. Forget Harry's voice, I'm looking at two pedal's, one of them is in this video. I like this one so I'll start looking for the best price today since Harry used some settings that I was wanting to hear. Glad I stopped by.....
@THE ACOUSTIC CAGE Oh, okay, I was agreeing if you were talking about the guys complaining. I know now what you meant. Thanks for letting me know. I'm slow sometimes I guess, lol...
@THE ACOUSTIC CAGE lol, that movie was great. I just added it to my movie list to watch tonight. Hey, I'm looking at guitar center because the Digitech DT with 3 foot buttons - [Whammy, Drop Tune & Momentary] instead of just the 1 foot button like this model has. Anyways, with the 12 months same as cash & 15% off, I can get that Digitech DT & a Boss Auto Wah for $285. This model in the review is on sale for $139 & $149 used but both Guitar Center & Sweetwater has this one new for $219. Now that DT model looks pretty cool & probably a bit easier because of the extra foot buttons. The whole reason I got the Guitar Center credit card was I bought 2 Martin acoustic guitars, a 12 & a 6 string MIA, a year & a half ago with a 24 month same as cash. That way my wife didn't freak out when I walked in with the both of them. I just told her that I wasn't gonna pass on anything cheap to both my sons who play & a 7 year old grandson that I'm teaching guitar to now. He's a lefty so hopefully I find some good deals on used but good name brand guitars. He's using a right handed guitar now, so all I did was get a left handed nut for it.
I was adding an auto wah pedal & it's always before the distortion pedal, so with that said, I'll be going in this order: Auto-Wah, Digitech Whammy then Distortion. [I have an older multi-effects by Boss & that's how the pedals go in order, 1 thru 6] No Whammy though. That's why I'm donating it with a couple guitars to our Jr High School because they won't give funds to the music department for guitar, Bass or Pedals.
Thanks Harry , now I know without a doubt what this pedal can do .I need it for lowering the octave on a dive on the E string on the Black Keys song , Lonely Boy .
Verschilt de 5 erg veel van de 4? Ik wil heel HEEL erg graag een whammy pedal (Jack White baby!) maar ik ben een arme student en op het geld moet ook gelet worden, haha. Gave review Harry!
Hey I have a question, can I use this pedal just as a Digitech the Drop? Because I actually need just to pitch my guitar like in a the Drop pedal, but the whammy has a lot of cool features too and it's just 30€ more expensive so I might buy it. I'm so confused...
+Willie Brown (Efeitologia) The Whammy V is definitely capable of doing just a half step down. The thing is, you just have to use the full step down (2nd DN) setting, and adjust the pedal manually until you get to half a step down. It's not convenient as a the dedicated Drop Tune pedal, but it is most certainly possible with a Whammy.
As with all power supplies (and power consuming products) you need to check the voltage, milli ampere consumption (adapter should give more than consumption of products), AC or DC power and positive or negative center tip. All 4 factors have to match up
For people who have this product, if i have a song that requires both divebomb and high whammy effects, would it be correct then that I need two of these pedals? One set to each direction so i can quickly jump from one effect to another?
Guys help me! I don't know if I should get Whammy DT or V :P Are there any differences except drop tune on DT? How's the sound? I can spend more money on DT, it's not a problem but if it sounds worse I'll go with V. Drop tune looks like cool feature because like to play some nu-metal stuff but only got one guitar so it would be very comfortable.
The DT version has the drop-tuning and capo'ing features you mentioned, whereas the Whammy V has the option to enable the 'classic' mode which sounds more glitchy. This is the more 'old school' whammy sound.
Bax-shop.nl Damn this is really hard decision to make :/ I guess I'll get V and eventually get some drop tune pedal (Morpheus for example). Thanks for Your answer, awesome videos You make !
Guys, can you use this pedal for like - not whammying with but instead of changing your guitar tune, for example if you are at drop C and want to sound drop A just leave it pressed at 2 octaves down to get a constant Drop A sound and not changing strings, tuning and those anoying stuff? Or its not going to be accurate? Hope i make sence haha.
I'm either going to wait a bit and buy this or just keep my crybaby wah and wait and buy a micro pog. I dunno, would I be able to get queens of the stone age and Tom morello sounds out of a crybaby and a micro pog?
Not sure if it has a separate option for that but you could probably keep the pedal actuated in the OFF position and then switch it back ON when you need the higher/lower octave. That should make it work like a switch, i think.
Yes you can just leave the pedal on in the position you want it and just turn it on with the button you don't have to use the expression pedal and sweep it up I do it all the time
Look up how Nels Cline uses his Whammy. He does a lot of stuff where he rapidly turns it on and off with the expression in the toe down position....or somewhere in between.
Would be nice to do some rock on these type of videos also. Yes, most users with floyd rose will want to do weird things like steve vai or heavy metal related stuff. However there are also rock players / blues players which dont want / cant install a floyd on his SG or a vibrato is not enough, etc. Why all should be heavy metal ?
Does this pedal allow me to always play an octave above, then switch to the normal sound + an octave above? I intend to use it on bass to do Royal Blood covers so that's what i need Thanks
dionisiogdrb Well live Mike Kerr usually just uses the octave above sound but I suppose you want to achieve the sound they get in the studio which unfortunately I don't think you can get with this pedal as it only lets you sound an octave above or normal, not both.
Drink a cupple of whisky jars and you got the voice of batman hahaha Lol... just kidding... very great video!!! I hope I can get someday one of theese whammy pedal :D
Ps 6 gives you many more options with the harmonise and is a more accurate harmoniser and on top there is also detune mode and also whammy so ps 6 is the better choice. But honestly though if I had the money I would buy both O would use the ps 6 as the harmoniser because it is just smart and almost too many options and I would use the digitech whammy for a whammy like octave movements
He's feeding from the Whammy into a distortion pedal for the first part of the video, which covers up a lot of the tracking errors. If you watch the video all the way through to the detune and harmony sections you can hear it's pretty much just as grainy as the old ones.
I know this video is old, but I just wanted to say that this video is OUTSTANDING. Great playing, and gives a very thorough but not excessively long demo of all the features. I wish every demo video was made as well as this one!

I agree....
came here to say this
mmm, to me it looks like he has no idea how to use the pedal and do faces like "wtf ?, whats this ? let's try this, oh god, wtf ?"
Fantastische demonstratie! Ik ben altijd blij als Harry Maes iets dat ik wil hebben heeft gereviewed, dan ben je in ieder geval altijd zeker van een compleet beeld van de mogelijkheden. Keep 'm coming!
7:00 i love that 'de niro' face he did while playing, so cool!!
At 3:16 i tought he was gonna play the muse-reapers solo
Glad I wasn't the only one!
same!!!
Bideo is from 2013, that song was recorded later.
That means Mathew Bellamy is the Reaper !
Sameeew
Your converse are too clean
Christopher Hickling maybe it's his "inside" shoes?
this is the guitarist that greets you in your own personal hell.
I'm sold on the V, love your work brother, you answered all my questions without asking.
What other gear do you use please? :) The distorted signal sounds awesome.
At first I was like "Woah, Paul Rudd in Whammy V Review!".
He looks so much like Paul Rudd its insane

Amazing demo. Killer chops and exceptional display of the Whammy's practical uses.
I just love his playing, and his accent 😌⚘
Hi, great review! where did you put the distortion pedal? before or after the whammy? Thanks!
I was adding an auto wah pedal & it's always before the distortion pedal, so with that said, I'll be going in this order: Auto-Wah, Digitech Whammy then Distortion. Impressive pitch tracking ! But why have they missed out the balance mix pot on the harmony mode, it is a must!
You've convinced me! Gonna get one tomorrow!!!
And I did! Still lovin' it!
@@ThePowersThatBeef Good! :D
How is it 7 yrs later?
Verschilt de 5 erg veel van de 4? Ik wil heel HEEL erg graag een whammy pedal (Jack White baby!) maar ik ben een arme student en op het geld moet ook gelet worden, haha. Gave review Harry!
Hello ! One question ! This is good for the Bass guitar also ? Thank you your answer ! 🤘
I thought you was going to say "Hi, my name is Andy from Pro Guitar Shop".
What the song at 6:25 ?? :O
Nice sound !
Idk but the effect remind me of Moonlight ( xxxtentation )
easily the best product reviewer indeed.
I like that DiveBomb setting!
So the harmony is like a octaver
FINALLY
someone who knows how to use this!
your tone is great! what amp?
Hello! one question. Molten Mid 2 can be used with whammy V?
Thanks for the video. Will be getting one soon.
Hey I have a question, can I use this pedal just as a Digitech the Drop? Because I actually need just to pitch my guitar like in a the Drop pedal, but the whammy has a lot of cool features too and it's just 30€ more expensive so I might buy it. I'm so confused...
I can’t help but laugh a little every time I see Harry jammin on a video.
His “I’m constipated” face expression…🤣🤣🤣
I didn't know the whammy comes with a harmonizer too. cool!..
Hey Harry, which distortion pedal are you using on this video?
Axe Fx II Friedman AFAIR
Does this do just half step down polyphonic just like the Digitech Drop on position "1"?
+Willie Brown (Efeitologia) It's not possible to pitch a half step down. You can use this pedal instead: bax.sh/op/13dMLo
Yes, thank you! Great review!

Yes, thank you. I think the The Drop is better in this case.
great rewiev, one of the best so far
Excellent review. Thank, Harry!
Regardless of my opinion for the product this was a great presentation
This is exactly the demo I needed thanks man!! And I like the mic!!
What about the whammy V with a bass? I play both guitar and bass. does it ruin the tone?
Awesome demo and playing, thanks
Superb review. Thanks so much!
sick! thanks for the review
the FACE MAN OH THAT'S what makes me wanna buy the pedals his demoing fantastic man!
Can you use the boss power adapter, or do you need that stupid proprietary digitech power supply?
As with all power supplies (and power consuming products) you need to check the voltage, milli ampere consumption (adapter should give more than consumption of products), AC or DC power and positive or negative center tip. All 4 factors have to match up
And then the short answer: yes. Only if you do not daisychain it to other pedals though, otherwise you will run into noise and possible mA shortage.
Awesome review! Very informative and practical.
This video is Legend.... wait for it......
Good demonstration!! I need this!!!
For people who have this product, if i have a song that requires both divebomb and high whammy effects, would it be correct then that I need two of these pedals? One set to each direction so i can quickly jump from one effect to another?
Maybe it'll help you to investigate how Dimebag Darrell used two Whammys in his rig (if he really used them both).
Guys help me! I don't know if I should get Whammy DT or V :P Are there any differences except drop tune on DT? How's the sound? thank you friend yo did a best demo 🤗
What about amp?Thanks
The Polyphonic addition was the needed improvement.
Is it possible to eliminate the sweep and just go straight to the octave?
Not sure if it has a separate option for that but you could probably keep the pedal actuated in the OFF position and then switch it back ON when you need the higher/lower octave. That should make it work like a switch, i think.
No, you need the sweep to activate the ocatave
Yes you can just leave the pedal on in the position you want it and just turn it on with the button you don't have to use the expression pedal and sweep it up I do it all the time

This pedals sound great with Bose Tera echo
@Bax-shop | Bax Music Goes. Great review video. It's the best one I've seen so far. Thanks Harry for your help....

it has a distortion inside?

nice review!
Loooooool I thought it was John Paul Jones in the thumbnail :')
You rock man !!!
Does this pedal allow me to always play an octave above, then switch to the normal sound + an octave above?
I intend to use it on bass to do Royal Blood covers so that's what i need

Yeah this is the pedal you want, I think that Mike Kerr actually uses it. But yeah it can give you an octave above and allow you to go back to normal
Yes I see
But I would like to go back to normal AND mantain the octave above. Is that possible?
Thanks
You mean to be able to play both at the same time?

Like a Dime
I'm stuck between this and the boss PS6 Harmonist.
+JohanYZ666 Well I just downloaded bias fx so I can use the pitch shifter, which is based on the whammy.
Fawesome! ;) ...'Harry' smokes that kook!
This pedal used to sound like shit. They finally got it right

Orange Harrison
I think it sounds rather fantastic compared to the old one honestly. I hear nothing but improvements
Orange Harrison
The old one couldn't handle chords. This one can. That's a huge improvement.
LOL!
Nice review Harry Ass

Terrible harsh distortion tone
Wow! You really made that fine pedal sound like a turd.. your tone is so processed it sucks. And only added more bacon frying to the pedal..
Worst Demo that I've ever heard...
Beautiful review! Thank you
