- The goal of this Standard Hearthstone March of the Lich King Battlecry Shaman OTK combo deck is to use Astalor Bloodsworn combined with Bolner Hammerbeak! We do this by playing Bolner, Astalor, and 0 mana Amalgam of the Deep or Elven Archer for the OTK! Super fun meme deck! Good luck!

@@grim_glim Which is super easy because there are no combo decks in meta that kill you consistently before 10 (except frost dk maybe) and control is much better than aggro currently
@@Fabrissable Quest dh with sinful brand or lady stheno + abusive sergeant can very consistently otk even on turn 8 or miracle rogue, which is the most commonly used deck at d5 and above

Interestingly enough, Manathirst keyword interacts weirdly with battlecries. It is stated to be a separate mechanic, that either happens independently from battecries, or changes them to work differently. The first 2 iterations of Astalor (2 and 5 mana) do not have their Manathirst effects attached to battlecries, so parrots and Shudderwock do not repeat them (so, damage and armor isn't given when the battlecry is repeated). The final one says "deal 16 instead", changing the battlecry. They can remove this feature by rewriting the text as "deal 8 more", nerfing this particular combo. Though, in my opinion, if the format allows the card this slow to be viable, Hearthstone is in a pretty healthy state right now.
It encourages people to play Burn decks to try and outpace the OTK, not that they need encouragement to play those decks, though... the most popular decks right now are all Burn, because it's easy, strong, and fast. Frost DK, Shockspitter Hunter, Aggro Mage, etc. And the top decks that aren't Burn are running Astalor OTK, the only exception I can think of is Evolve Shaman.
The meta is not in a good place right now, IMO. It's too fast and aggressive for my tastes.
Healthy? Have you played ranked recently? Yeah no. Meta is too fast and that nerf on Astalor would be perfection.
@@michaelbowman6684 they could make the Battlecry become mathirst 1 instead and then it wouldn't be a problem. Also yeah not a fun time to play ladder

You can slide this combo in basically any Shudderwock deck, add Witchwood Piper to guarantee getting Astalor, double battlecry quest, and it's easy. I have killed so many opponents with double battlecry astalor that I lost count.
Why does manathirst doesn't work when coppying or doubling the battlecry... it makes no sense to me 😣
In a recent Chump video the mana thirst wasn’t doubled with bran not sure why it works with Astalor’s final form.
@@piesank Pretty sure this is actually working as intended because the wording states "deal 16 *instead".* So unlike the first two versions of Astalor, the final form's Manathrist modifies the Battlecry, the first two versions provide an additional effect.

@@Arrakiz666 I think they messed it up though. Manathirst could work with Deathrattles, end of turn effects... So many applications, but if you don't make it obvious when the effect happens and make it a pseudo-battlecry... it's just cringe
👊 A way to avoid this problem is simply pull manathirst to the top of the description if it has nothing to do with the timing
Wondering if this is good enough to climb to legend from d5 with haha. I'm actually doing it right now with a 30 card ramp combo druid that does a very similar combo
Edit: queued with it, 5 wins and 2 losses so far. I swapped a murloc for more draws. Comboing dredge with foresight draw is pretty crazy if you hit it on the 2 drop legendary OR Brann, it allows you to go pew pew almost forever lol
cool combo but astalor really needs a nerf lol. maybe put all of flamebringer's damage in manathirst so it doesn't interact with battlecry cards
Knowing well how Blizzard nerfs, they will most likely make 1 more Mana on each form or reduce his damage from 8+8 to 7+7.
The could also make astalor work properly with Brann, Bolner and any other double battlecry source. It shouldn't give you 16+16 but rather 16+8.
They should just make Astalor's effect entirely Manathirst, not Battlecry.
Thats seems good, since most people wait for the Manathirst anyways

@@zhmyh6599 the manathurst effect modifies the battlecry is how i see it. the other astalors have a bonus effect and not an addition to the battlecry, but we’ll just wait on blizzard for that
I thought we couldn't copy the mana thirst parts of cards with Brann so why are you able to copy the mana thirst extra 8 with Bolner as though that's part of the battlecry?
manathirst doesnt count as a battlecry, but astalor’s last stage modifies the existing battlecry, making it proc

Astalor should deal at most like 5 and 5 dmg 10 in total. It is crazy they printed card that just says deal 16 dmg with from hand and you just need to play one card. Remember times when you played 12/12 Cthun for 10 mana with whole deck built around him
Surelly you mean your 28/28 cthun, right? No way you play an entire game with a cthun deck and don't get him at the Very least up to the 20/20s. But i agree, the ammount of value and damage you get from astalor is ridiculous, it deserves a nerf. Maybe swap the manathirst and the battlecries and tune down the damage from the last form.
I had no idea that the murloc shaman I fought the other day was going for OTK.
deck only needs a card to draw astalor early , cause sometimes its your last card literaly , besides that its awsome and so fun to play
Tbh that deck wont even see past turn 5, I dont think this needs a nerf.. Please nerf miracle rogue, that class is hell to play against. And maybe astalor's cost bumped up on all 3 cards?

It doesn't play the manathirst effet ever, but the 3rd copy have a manathirst that modifies the battlecry

might be easier with elementals. Easy to ensure the reductions and cheaper - might even be able to do more.

Usually i discover these OTK combos through your videos, then i start seeing them in ranked. But yesterday was the first time I went against this OTK combo BEFORE you having a video about it. Hated it.

Even if the cost goes up, you can still use macaws and bolnar the following turn. They need to do something with substantial battlecries that make it a one per game effect. Legendary Battlecry, otherwise Mark will abuse it to make you take unholy amounts of damage.
Just make his ability "Manathirst (11): Deal 16 instead" KEKW

They should make him hit only minions, and before anyone says it, no it wouldn't kill the card, it would kill his OTK potential but he would still be playable,
@@locogato3488 I think it would kill him, deck that run Asta mostly for face dmg, like they used with daddy D. There is no need for 10 mana boardclear that would be too weak.
@@Fabrissable Any deck can run Astalor, he gives a lot of value for a 2 cost minion. The face damage in the last form is the same mistake as Denathrius, it shouldn't be able to hit face to begin with.
