From what I understood, Suge Knight had some beef with Dr. Dre, so Suge Knight and his gang pulled up to the place where 50 Cent and the Shady camp were shooting "In Da Club' music video. The Game and Em both were present during the shooting of the music video.
What this article is saying is that even though Em has never claimed to be 'gangster', in this particular situation Em was ready to confront Suge Knight and his gang. Dr. Dre and Jimmy (who were also there atb the set) stopped Em from doing so.
Game is just saying how Em is loyal towards his own people and ready to stand up.
PS: I am not a native speaker either, so don't take my word for it.
