@@leaf_ie yes!! i kinda love it, it reminds me of the water turning over on itself. it might not fit the art style of the game but it would be cool to have water textured like that
just for the record, it was Sims 2 that only let you place lots by roads, Sims 3 you can place the lot anywhere as long as there was enough space for it. (which means lot placement was in 2 previous versions and still isn't a thing in Sims 4) I am really excited to have this feature again in another game tho! It is great for building custom worlds
I tbink they fixed the lighting. There's definitely less blooming so it no longer looks over exposed which is amazing! I love that they are putting prompts on the screen to let people know like we see there's things to fix still don't worry. This is there best video yet!! I love it!! 😁😁
The customization will really let you tell any story. Being able to move and customize the buildings added to that you can customize all the speech and conversation dialogues means you can have a full medieval world. Or futuristic world, Post Apocalyptic, Fairy Tale. Really anything you want. It's a bit intimidating but I look forward to seeing where people take this!

The half-tile wall will definitely be a game changer for me as I hate making 1-tile wide hallways in The Sims , but sometimes 2-wide is just too much.
I actually like the water texture, it's fun and unique, someone else said it reminds them of sequins and that actually fits because open water is unevenly reflective, like sequins. The current texture may have a little too much contrast between the "sequins" and the "background" and that's likely what's throwing some people off, but I do think they can work with this. And I 100% agree the lighting looks so much better, the contrast and saturation in general are much better balanced and the world looks vibrant and lush. Looking forward to more updates.
I think the lighting has improved. You have to compare it to the Sims because that's all there is to compare it to. At some point, will there be a cemetery?

That phrase made me a bit worried... She is developing the game, she probably is using a very good pc, if they cant handle high settings how people with regular notebooks will run the game? Maybe optmizing the game is the last stage, I dont know.

Anyway I think the game will require a powerfull pc, and it wont run in old machines.
@@augusto7681 Sometimes developers run their game on lower spec pcs to test out how differently the game will run on different machinery. Hopefully this was just a test run

Amazing, the game seems to have so many nice features! The water looks terrible though but I’m sure they will improve it within time.
It's obviously a simulation and graphics test, not an actual finished result. The water has looked more watery earlier, this is like a tech test.
The map veiw reminds me of a mix of the sims 2 and 3. I can agree with you on the water texture. Think that it mostly just needs more polish. I can see what they are trying to graphically do.

Okay so I wouldn’t be mad if there were only one big town. Like how sims 2 had like different towns which was okay but having one big town with different areas. Farther out would be a desert or snowy mountain tops and then the country side farther out and downtown being one big down town and then suburbs a little farther out and rural areas all in one I wouldn’t be upset. Then other towns could be vacation spots. I wouldn’t be mad at multiple towns with different themes but also wouldn’t mind one big town with all of the themes in one just sectioned off by distance and landscape.

6:16, actually the lots didn't have to be on the road, they snapped, bub didn't have to. I remember that because I loved when my witches lived off-road in Moonlight Falls or in the waters of Bridgeport way back in the day.
Sims 2 lots had to be on a road but it was still more customizable in a closed world than Sims 4

So I'm confused by these simulation games that are coming out... I understand these are a work in progress but are these the actual graphics? They remind me of very early simulation games. What's the point of all the customization if the graphics aren't good? I get The Sims is failing in a lot of ways but I don't think they're comparable.

Paradox also loves to play the DLC game. But they release so much in the free patch each DLC-which allows for much better crosspack gameplay. Some patches can make a game feel like a whole new game. And if you don’t like the changes, you can always rollback your version or bounce between versions (I actually do this for some mods when I play paradox games).
I am not saying paradox is a perfect ethical company. But when I compare it to EA I can see so many ways in which they do better.
An example of what I mean. If the sims 4 were like crusader kings, for example, on the release of seasons, the seasons themselves would have been added to the basegame alongside the calendar. All the seasons’ gameplay like father winter, patchy, the bunny, playing with autumn leaves, the holidays, and so forth would have been locked behind DLC. But what this allows is future DLCs being able to have stuff interact with seasons if they so choose-it’s there in base game available for modders or future DLC to play with.
One last thing… they need to come up with a better word than humans. It’s creepy.

@@Sim-dil-e-icious I am not saying it will be awesome. I am on the fence myself. What I was saying is that I like paradox over EA when it comes to DLC design choices and making in depth games. But I have no clue how this game will turn out.
That said I also appreciate a game company that delays release. To me that is a good sign. Still on the fence though until closer to the release date.
Not to say the quality bar on paradox DLCs are far higher than the sims whole history with dlcs, they have some bad DLCs, but the good ones really change the game.

I'm about to invest in a PC for this game. It's gorgeous. They added a lot since their first video. It looks like Southern Cal or Upstate Mass between cities. It reminds me of a drive I went on to Cape Cod in the east and La Jolla in the West (possibly through Topanga over to Malibu as well). I want this game. I was playing the Sims today, and literally, there were so many missing effects and it kept freezing and having to be restarted--even on the lowest resolution, and my laptops (both MacBook Pros) are less than 5 years old and top of the line, so I know it is NOT my laptops (and EA can stop putting the blame on us. I can't wait to play this game even more now.
TS3 lots didn't have to be along a road if you didn't want to. You could plonk it down anywhere, even on the side of a steep hill.
I'm really curious as to how EA will do in the future, if LBY turns out to be a hit (which I think will be, judging on their actions so far). The Sims is one of their biggest cash cows, so what would happen if the majority of people flock to LBY? Especially since the current plan is that Sims 5 will be an online freemium (free to play but pay for DLCs), and a lot of of people have already been criticising that. EA has shown in the past that they will let a big profitable game collapse on itself, like Sims City. And yes, they were the ones who destroyed it themselves. But I wonder if they'll do that for The Sims 5, a game with such a gigantic profit. Will this be the beginning of the end of EA's monopolistic grip on Maxis' The Sims?

TS3 does Not require lots to be by a road. The sims will just run to it once they arrive if it doesn't have road access.
i really hope that we can use the stam workshop to download peoples lots/worlds/savefiles, i want to make pretty buildings & i want to share them like i can in ts4 gallery!

Is there a video saying if it will be a appt to download to play life by you and I did not see it ? and how to download it on our laptop and computer? hope it will not cost a lot of money because of all they are giving us to start with! I have a window 10 try use a window 11 but could seem to download all my sims3 and 4 on it at that time we could still use origin . then i to ok the widows11 back try a not window 11 . gave up . I payed a friend and go a window 10 and go t all my sims game on it fine I really hope it get done this year and we do not have to wait till 2024!! as if I can a ford it I really want it will still play my sims be cause I have a lot of money it to them any way.

And here we are again you comparing a 2014 game with a 2024 one pretending that they are the same in terms of development and tecnology (and we don't know anything about the sims 5 so don't say that we won't have anything of this in the game). You should understand that the games can and will coexist and have each his buyers and his fandom.
I'm honestly not impressed of what I'm seeing with this game. It all seems very bad in graphics and leaking in game play and humans around the world

Graphics are very bad, Lightning is not good, quality in general of the video output looks cheap and low resolution with very bad textures.
I will probably still buy it because it seems interesting but i'm starting to become annoyed about him complaining every single video about ea and the sims when there is no need

I mean the Sims has always been "buy DLC" because there is SO much content you can purchase, and NOT purchase..you can customize what you want in your game..which is what I always liked about The Sims - if you don't like it don't buy the DLC lol

Yeah but things like weather I would assume would be automatic features in a game at start. Some things are good as DLC but some things are just milking it for greed.
This is probably gonna sound incredibly negative and I am aware that this game is still in early development and is going to go through some (hopefully) major changes, but there are just so many things that bug me. I am glad they fixed the bottom bar and other aspects of the UI but the icons for items in the inventory are horrendous. They don't seem to follow any kind of theme other than looking ugly, like look at that apple and wool. It just doesn't fit at all and looks plain ugly. I also must say that I am skeptical about the world. Don't get me wrong, I love how open it is and how all of the lots just load in an instant, similar but even better than in The Sims 3. The lots themselves look really well-built as well but the world itself is embarassing for such a major developer. It looks like a custom world made by someone who is inexperienced with the Create-A-World tool in TS3 and just did the bare minimum. The landscape is barren and nothing looks interesting. It's nice to have an open world, but what is the point of it if there is no incentive to go anywhere beyond the streets and beaches? I'm sure they are going to have some kind of exploration system so you can go out in the wild and collect things. But it's literally just grass, trees, beaches and hills. And that giant park next to the main city area with all the flowers looks, like I just mentioned, as if it was made by an inexperienced player in CAW. The flowers are an eye-sore. They just selected everything they could and plopped it all down with no real thinking whatsoever.
Apart from that and the fact that the character's seem pretty lifeless (as well as some other UI issues... please rename the "Drink" need to "Thirst") the game looks great. Graphics have improved greatly (apart from the water), but the fact that they have already changed so many things based on the players' feedback is giving me hope and I do not doubt that this game is going to be good. I am just really skeptical of the world. If the current state of it is here to stay and you can create your own custom ones, I don't think I will ever touch it.
I love everything so far, as long as they work on the humans, I'm in.

Yeah, but the way they were doing it, they look ugly, like The Sims 3. I like the world, but The Sims were ugly. The graphics look so much better now. They just need to keep along this road A happy medium Because the more realistic it looks, the more outdated it looks later.
I love love realistic game. I revamped my sims and worlds to be most realistic as I can. But LBY looks gloomy, lifeless. BTW I am sure the dev team will fix it before the debut launch.
@@diamondleo5136this whole outdated graphics arguement is such a cop out. This was true for games during like the ps2 Era? But as technology improves this stops being as much of an issue. Many modern games have realistic graphics and still hold up years later. And even if it doesn't who cares what this game looks like a decade after it releases? Stylized games are timeless but every single game does not need to be a stylized cartoon. They currently have a good balance between realism and cartoony in this game, again they just need to really improve the human characters.

This reminds me of the Sims 3 with the open world being customizable. I've been having a blast with the Sims 3, and I would love to see other games like it.

Ooo i see it! I hope we get natural disasters like in cities skylines! like maybe an earthquake happens & one of the roads connecting two towns collapses temporarily so you have to go the long way or something! (as long as its toggleable lol)
