I live here and I barely even know my country because there's so much to see. I used to live in California too so there is a big culture shock. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip.

Wow, you are amazing, so much passion and empathy! All 195 countries !!! That is mind blowing. I'm at 35, and I agree there is nothing more rewarding that travel, if only I got to do it more often.
Depends where you live- as usually the cheapest countries to travel to are the ones next door as flight costs will be low. It also depends on how you travel- if you're less interested in great food or great hotels then you'll save a lot anywhere. Generally I'd say that Southeast Asia, South America, and Eastern Europe are quite easily done low-cost. Also depending how you travel East and West Africa can be quite cheap as well.
Your videos started showing up in my recommended list recently even though I remember seeing your video on Conde Nast a few months ago! I'm so happy they did because one of my biggest life goals is to also travel to every country in the world. You really inspire me to do it in many ways and remind me that it's not going to be the easiest feat. I actually currently go to NYU and have traveled so much because of the opportunities I have here. I'm very interested in economic development and am so inspired by your story!

I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your experiences. You are right travelling is a privilege and it is so important to learn about other cultures. I started traveling 10 years ago and absolutely love learning about cultures and political systems. I have spent a lot of time in Guatemala, complicated country but amazing culture and resilient people, I learn Spanish, meet the corrupted president in Guatemala while helping a medical clinic. I consider Guatemala my second home. ( I’m French Canadian ). I love channels like this ♥️
I learned when I traveled to China to do what I wanted to do and not to set expectations. I enjoyed my trip much more. I would try to make a point to get out of the hotel at least once a day and do something that I wanted to do. There were times where I holed up in my hotel room to rest (combination of jet lag and time off work) to do nothing but sleep. That was ok. I did what I could but RELAXED. I saw and learned a lot and I am grateful for that privilege. I won't set the expectation of visiting all countries yet. My current goal is to visit every continent of the world (including Antarctica). This whole traveling thing I got going was when I realized I've been to 37 of the 50 US states. I made it a goal to visit all 50. Now that I've done that I have the continent goal. My success is because I can set realistic goals that I can accomplish.
Visiting all the countries is a serious accomplishment. Awesome. I love to travel too and have been ramping it up with my family. Now my 8 year old has visited 50+ countries. I say plus because it's over 50 UN countries plus places like Hong Kong, Kosovo, Vatican and Taiwan that are often counted but are not in the 193 UN list. Mad props for getting all the countries - this is a serious accomplishment.
I'm glad to find your channel. I was looking up Turkmenistan, and of course you had a story on that, and a lot more. One question: Since you have been to every country at least once, what will you do for the next round? How will you decide where to go next (besides letting us decide for you?)

amen to that. Travel (and life in general) should be about doing what makes you feel fulfilled - if its to visit every country or to stay on your couch all day - everyone has their own goals! I loved my journey to every country and continue to travel now, but also love being home!

I stayed there the Summer of 2012, right before the final Chavez election. Was in the South in Santa Elena De Uairen, working with the Pemon community.
I had a great time - was in the South - and actually my trip there coincided with a personal celebration so I had one of my favorite nights - going out for an incredible dinner and dance and got adopted by an Irish hen party for most of the night :)
Yes- but that hasn't happened in 8 years (South Sudan). I was actually supposed to be there, in Juba, on the day they became independent - but the security forces shut the border! My biggest travel regret! If a new one forms I want to be there on the day of formal independence!
To save you the run around, would recommend if possible to get most of your visas here in USA. Most counties have embassies or consulates here and it seems they send there smartest and knowledgeable consulate officers to US and UK.. That is from my experience ..ymmv..

Nicaragua was awesome!! I went in 2010 to visit my friend who is from there. I stayed in her home in Managua and we also spent a weekend at her beach house on the Pacific coast. Ate LOTS of good food and got so much time to just relax and be with a Nicaraguan family :D
I had a great time on each. Palau was my first Pacific Island I ever visited- I went there for my scuba diving certificate. It's one of the most naturally beautiful places I've ever been - I love the domed rocks. Nauru I stayed on for 5 days and it was around Christmas and I got invited to tons of Christmas celebrations by locals and by the refugees. Nicaragua was awesome!! I went in 2010 to visit my friend who is from there. I stayed in her home in Managua and we also spent a weekend at her beach house on the Pacific coast. Ate LOTS of good food and got so much time to just relax and be with a Nicaraguan family :D

What was Palau and Nauru like?
I had a great time on each. Palau was my first Pacific Island I ever visited- I went there for my scuba diving certificate. It's one of the most naturally beautiful places I've ever been - I love the domed rocks. Nauru I stayed on for 5 days and it was around Christmas and I got invited to tons of Christmas celebrations by locals and by the refugees.
