    This is definitely an improvement over my LiteFighter 1 tent. I’ve considered buying the wind breaker to make mine a 4 season like my TCOP’s but this temps me to buy this model as an upgrade. Love that stuff sack! You could use it as a utility bag around camp once the tent is set up. My stuff sack is just the fly material. I’m like you about the cordage Curry. The ribbed construction of it makes it superior to regular 550 cord when using tensioners. Highly unlikely it will slip. I was just as excited as you to see this thing set up and a bit jealous. Nothing like getting new GOOD gear! Great quick overview. Can’t wait to see more on it. Thanks for sharing.

    The drawbacks I see are the added setup and tear down time with the added third layer, the added time of getting out of the tent with three door layers instead of two, and still not having a light blocking layer like the TCOP offers.

    Curry what a great review, very clear photography and easy listening. I recently looked at purchasing a Catamount 2 but when the taxes and customs fees were added it was outside my budget.
    Unfortunately in the UK and Europe there are no tent manufacturers that make military tents. There are never any for sale even used that were made over this side of the pond.
    Anyway, I've just purchased a Nortent Vern 2 as my 4 season tent. Stay safe and god bless atb Taff 🤠👊

    Yep if it gets really bad weather have a extra rain fly and double rain fly your tent. I have an extra one and it lite and doesn't take up much room and it sure cuts down on cold wind.

    I was thinking that a good seamstress could match a wool blanket to the dimensions of the windbreaker and to some degree you could have decent nighttime light discipline.

    Only down I have seen on this. That other youtubers have also mentioned. Was the fly where your head and feet are is loose, I would like a loop on each end so you can rope/stake it taught and help with water runoff.
    I did end up ordering a tcop due to cost. The litefighter. Although can be found surplus, usually do not come w the 4season cover and extra accessories the tcop comes w out of the gate. I got a tcop for 230shipped surplus, like new. The litefighter would've cost the same but needed another 150-200 for the stuff it doesn't come with.
    I may upgrade to a litefighter in a few years as budget allows

    So I have the nonFido and that has straps to put it on a cot as well does the Fido do that also? I have had it a couple years now and love all the setups that can be done I did have to purchase the winter kit separately but hands down felt like a good purchase. Now looking at the Recondo 1 Jungle Hammock for a summer setup

    What a coincidence. I just received mine on Wednesday. I also got the AI version too, as I plan to, someday use it during winter. However, mainly I got it for this coming May, I'm planning a few weekend trips up to Michigan(I live in Indiana) to go morel mushroom hunting.
    As for the aluminum tent poles that come with it, are right at 1 lb 0.2 oz (on my scale). I opted to separately purchase their carbon fiber pole set that come in at 15.1 oz(again my scale, your mileage may vary). The main reason I opted for the upgraded pole set, is because in theory carbon fiber is stronger, and obviously lighter than aluminum.
    *yes, just this morning, I unfolded both sets of poles and by laying one on the top of the other. The difference in dimensions between the two is negligible, not if non-existent.

    There’s nothing “4 season” about a tarp over a ground tarp. Maybe it means it literally won’t matter what season it is, therefore it’s a “4 season” 😂 Your mileage may vary… but I really hope that was purely a demonstration of just the rain fly without the tent for some reason.
    By the way, just got here from your four-year-old video about cleaning a cast-iron skillet so now I’m here !!!

      Oh no, this system if far more extensive than what is shown in the thumbnail. It's a fantastic piece of gear and is good to go!

      Superbly made video sir .
      I do like the lite fighter but I do not think it competes with the tcop .
      This tent will be a huge light bulb if you use a light inside at night... so zero night stealth capability .
      Also , pitching this in the rain would be a disaster ,whereas the tcop tent body is very water resistant with doors zipped closed , meaning pitching in the rain is a breeze ...
      ... I just love my tcop ...

      @@davidjacobs828 I love mine too. Wish it was a little lighter but I'm not giving up the toughness that comes with the weight.

    Is the central hub made of aluminum or plastic? I really want to get this, but I refuse to pay that price for a tent with critical components made of plastic. I can’t find any info on this

  • @ralphwatten2426
    @ralphwatten2426 10 месяцев назад +5

    The price point for me is a deal breaker. I don't like that plastic center hub because it could really ruin a camping trip if it breaks. Plastic gets brittle in the cold. I like the light weight. I don't like those mesh windows not having covers. No repair kit comes with it. Definite improvement but I'm not there yet. NW Wisconsin, that's still not a 4 season tent. A TCOP is.

    Question: why did you only set up the ground sheet and Rainfly like it was the tent? That's just a quick raincover, not a tent. The Tent is full screened like you set up later, which comes with the full tent (of course) the COLD WEATHER wind cover is separate over the inner vented screen tent. I use and love the tent and you confused me. Otherwise it was a good easy video. Not so much for newbies to it.

    • @robertsbushcraft
      @robertsbushcraft  4 месяца назад +1

      That is LiteFighter's hasty hooch configuration. The poles and fly are designed with the groundsheet to make an ultralight shelter (without tent body or 4th season cover). You can use your own bug netting (or none) beneath the hasty hooch. The hasty hooch weighs in right at 3lbs.

      With the 4th season addon, I do believe so! We'll be testing this out this coming winter.
