This is, like, the 3rd time Bethesda is trying to monetize mods. You would think they would've learned by now
they were going to learn their lessons in starfield as well.
Mod authors putting their content on sites like patreon is the cause of the rise of paid mods
@@johannord4778 I'm ready to pay the author of the mod, but not Todd, who doesn't know what to do with this money.
@@munyoriTHANK YOU🤣
I can hear the quotations on the word, "update" every time you say it. And i very much agree.
It's unfortunate, I wish they'd just leave Skyrim alone...but it makes too much money, so Bethesda or Micro$oft are just gonna keep squeezing it until they can't anymore.
The mod community is what has LITERALLY saved Bethesda's a$$es about their games since Morrowind.
Never thought the day would come that Michael Jackson talks about Skyrim 👀
Hee hee
@@iyreshot nice that you took it with humor :)
thanks for the update!
Just got recommended for me!
Appreciate it 👍🏼
ahahaha
It's been about 7 years since Bethesda should have stopped updating Skyrim for the 13 millionth times. Nowadays, all it does to most players is to break whole bunch of SKSE mods for about 2-3 weeks just for giggles.
Yeah, this just says to me that I need automatic updates off
I can only hope that they're extending the memory pool from 5gb to 10+
I hope so as well!!
There not going to do that . There going to ask for your money no wrong they are going to demand your money for something that is not theirs to sale . 100 bucks for the modder 100.000bucks for bethesda o and for us WELL DONT TALK JUST PAY BECAUSE GIVE ME MONEY
@xaxaxaxaxa6417 you don't know that
This is bethesda they won´t do nothing but the bare minimum and if they don´t get money out of this they just don´t care they don´t even fix bugs @@Luigi2088

Honestly I'm not sure Bethesda is changing a lot all at once and as an autistic man I'm not good with change love the game love the work modders do so if they want to make money off it go for it but sadly I have to live by what my wallet will allow and that means I can't pay for mods. Still thankful for this community I'm blessed to a part of it😊🥰 also great video iyreshot!
I agree, Blake! I'm always staying optimistic 🙂. Thank you, my friend!
@@iyreshot your welcome iyreshot 🥰
@@wonderland7493 that's exactly what I'm talking about change has never been an easy thing for me and I hope to still be able to support people on here even though I can't afford the mods
Skyrim really is a game kept alive 12 years (and counting) thanks to modders, not even Bethesda, and that people can access mods for free. If they update it so that the mods have to be paid I feel that neither modders would benefit since being as is Bethesda only seeks benefits for themselves. Also if there is something that the company does wrong the community is who solves it for the community, while they save money and time. If all mods were paid, the same Bethesda would be released.
This happens all the time, if they make it too difficult to and expensive to mod legally, people will just start using pirated software and pirated mods, these are tech savvy people, not internet noobs who are into modding. All we have to do is agree to keep our mods on a certain version and stick to it and ignore bethesda/steam and their "forced updates". Ive modded games from pirate bay before, it works just fine.
not with this unfortunately
Beth is owned by Microsoft now, and they want to milk it as much as possible, but what has kept these game going for so long is the modders, and FREE mods. Pay if you want, not if you have to. Its a fanbase that has kept these game going, not the improvements that Beth did. This is a sure way to bury their games. Its sad, but eventually, even this journey had to be over. Only solution is the age old principle, vote with your wallet. Don't buy any mods from Beth, and it will fade away
If the mod is Serena dialogue add-on I will buy it I don't give a s***
Completely agree!
Mod authors putting their content on sites like patreon is the cause of the rise of paid mods.
Not gonna happen
@BluehaZe_ dude you don't know that for sure and you can't speak for the entire modding community
Remember pirating games owned by microsoft is the morally right thing
Pros and Cons - We users might get much more space to download mods on consoles for all Beth games. However, Beth may set it up to where modders can charge for mods and of course Beth makes a percentage. If this happens it can open jobs up for people and others will desire to make mods. Money makes world go round. Lots of kids are pissed but Nexus and Patreon have been doing this all along. Modders ask for support and payment for their work. As long as it's not forced things should go well. But I'm a realist...something tells me Beth is greedy and has a pattern of lying. I prefer talking to you live with a microphone. Big gamer and vlogger myself if you're interested some day.
Maybe they should fk off and work on ESVI? Leave the game alone.
I hope we get more free gb space so we can explore more diverse load orders
I just started looking at mods on PS4 for Skyrim SE. Looks like the shop is in maintenance mode. I can't access the mods or check out new ones. I guess I can just continue as it's set up. It seems stable. I wanted to check out some new mods I downloaded. I can't turn them on. I can't access mods on PS4.
WIll the payment apply to nexus mods for PC? Hope not
As far as I know, this will not affect Nexus! Just in-game mods and Creaton Club. Mainly, this affects console players unfortunately.
December 5th me : “ why the F is this taking so long” i just want to finish adding the nordwar armors😭
whats the music at 3:46 so good hear it before in skyrim but don't know what''s it called❤
I think it's this one 😊 ruclips.net/video/ifQ3JRS4gqc/видео.htmlsi=HxKLNz5UaQ_V3gLn
Here's the mod too if you need it! www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2980
The official discord is very chaotic at the moment, it’s been basically radio silence from the devs
Ok this explains why i couldn't use the mods yesterday i love some of the new mods buts some from Nexus needs upgrades
Yep! New updates always break stuff...
@@iyreshot I know right
after updating your steam settings how do you start the game without the game updating?
Are you playing the game with mods? If so you'd be launching the game from a mod manager. If you're playing the game vanilla I wouldn't worry about changing the steam update settings! Sorry for any confusion.
I played Skyrim for the first time yesterday, and that's exactly thanks to a video i saw of skyrim's amazing mods, i wanted to enjoy the guy and pretty much modify it with mods, i wanted that, i heard they are free mods, it'll be so disappointing to see them charging money after they get back Online, really disappointing.
Anytime Bethesda wants to retry for paid mods it's in their best interest to push updates that break as many mods as possible. Cull the competition as it were. And as the game gets older and older more and more authors move on leaving their mods as is.
Looks like it's time to ditch Skyrim for consoles and buy the PC version. Thanks for the information! Keep truckin!
Hopefully pretty soon you can beat the met their own game and create your own games and give them out free. Really advanced looking games don't worry it will happen soon.
I can see that
I feel like they're going to take the best mods and make it there own. Monetize it..... Then make it like a live service. Bethesda making up for it becoming exclusive to Microsoft. Have to make money off the Sony side somehow. It's a real stab in the heart to those that give their personal time to make mods for us to enjoy....then a Corp takes it as their own and makes money off of it.
How we feel about this this is awesome news we finally get something new coming our way Something new is Always better than nothing at all I'm so excited I wonder what it is please be something good
Im confused. Is that sarcasm or are you really that naive? :D
I dont really mind paying modders for their work if they want it. But I refuse to pay a monthly subscription for the privilege to do it. I'll just uninstall and walk away. Got plenty of games that i haven't played in a long time anyway. This will just give me the chance.
NONE OF MY MODS ARE LOADING “save corrupt” 😭😭😭😭😭
😭😭 oh no!
If this gets on switch, I pay ten dollars for ordinaror
I would expect that a lot of the more popular Mods are going this route and will be either abandoned or not supported anymore. If they do a subscription-based system, I will potentially try it. As long as there guaranteed to work out of the box with no conflict issues. As for there being no free mods, that won't happen. Nexus mods is a strong site with many subscribers and members. Also, we will have authors who continue to provide free mods, and the tools to make them work. I don't think it is going to be as successful for Bethesda as they would like it to be. However, I am very sure that it's a testing ground for ES6, and Starfield. Its already present in fallout4 as a main part of the game. My advice is to not update, and save those mods.
It’s gonna be like a subscription calling it
not surprised by this, they realize as well as anyone that the staying power of their games lies within its mod-ability
"The update" the last update forced me to finally play elders scrolls online
Everything that is Skyrim is elder scrolls online but 50 times better
Updating Skyrim annoys me. Breaking mods that might never be fixed for no reason at all. Even the update that affected the languages destroyed mods. Leave it alone
I find it unfair and will they charge g the mods I already have downloaded
Monetizing mods was Bethesda’s goal after seeing their popularity. They can’t stop the greed grab. The forced updates on a product I already purchased was dirty pool. Adding things I didn’t want was rude! How many years is Bethesda going to force their greediness before they ruin this great community. If modders want paid, let them say it. Not Bethesda!
Some people want to be compensated for their time. I support them and purchase their content.
I respect that. I've supported Boris ENB Patreon and PureDarks Patreon. There are many more I would love to support if I could! Modders work very hard on what they create and deserve compensation if they desire.
Im not willing to pay for mods for multiple reasons, one is that i hardly have enough money for food, another is that its against the spirit of modding. If i had money i would donate to authors of mods that i have enjoyed but im not going to pay just to access them, in that case i will resort to pirating
Bethesda, STOP SCREWING UP WITH THE GAME, ENOUGH UPDATES!!!
Best mods need either Nemisis or SKSE. I seriously doubt Bethesda will incorporate either of them. Making revenue for modders is a great idea, as long as we don’t have to pay for mods we already have etc.
@BaneOfPhillipBurnell I used fnis but I couldn’t install a few mods without Nemesis so I switched ( read the room, paraglider, true directional movement) I’d switch back if I could everything with fnis
Ive turned off updates for skyrim, not sure if it'll work, but like hell am I paying for mods when I've given Bethesda enough of my money, I'm quite happy doing what im doing, tipping mod authors if i enjoy their mods. I refuse to put any more money into Bethesda until the next Elder Scrolls game.
If this doesn't work and I end up having to pay for mods, then it'll be time to kiss Skyrim goodnight after years and years, hours and hours of playtime, I dont fully understand exactly what it is they are doing, but if it's what I think, then that's me done.
all installed mods aren't working, they are cashing in on the work of users, instead of focusing on a bad ass ESVI game, and let the modding community just co exist, they are eating the goose with the golden eggs by doing this
As long as the nexus doesnt change, mo2 stays the same and we have auto updates off everything should be fine. But this is extreeeemly retarded on bethesdas part. They're killing their brand with this kinda crap. I already dont think elder scrolls 6 will be any good based on starfield and man if they keep goin like this i wont be the only one. Look like its skyrim forever baby
Skyrim has sold 60 million copies. The most popular Nexus mod has 4.5 million downloads. 90% of all players don't know anything about mods and don't want to know. So calm down. )
Great, just when I bought it and spent 5 hours to mod it
Procrastinating on work needed for starfield no doubt
well said!
There is free and paid ones the paid ones you don't have to buy but it's good to have them if you want something extra They're keeping the free ones but these creation club I'm thinking they're gonna add some new ones which is always good I content in my life lol 😂
Thank you for this. It's lifesaving
Glad it helped!
Still broken. Reporting my saves as corrupt. I'm sure so I can't play without buying something. I can do nothing in the game without it crashing out. Time to call my States AG for destroying something I purchased.
If mods are between $1.00-$10 sure I will pay but it would be annoying
I'm reinstalling the Legendary edition. I'm not playing this game with Todd.
The end of Bethesda studio
I'm worried about ppl taking down mods on Nexus and putting them paywalled :( I don't mind NEW mods paywalled, but please leave the old ones.
I'm okay with the modders getting paid for there work like if you say Nico wanted to charge 2.99$ for his bowgasm mod then fair enough if you ask me but I want 100% of that money going to the modders Bethesda has rereleased this game at least like 8 times now at this point so they have made enough money off of this game now while the modders haven't made a dime in most cases so I think they deserve to get paid for there very very hard work that they have done for this great games community but Bethesdas wallet is already fat enough.
IMO:
Bethesda need to get money back from their big flop Fallout76 and Starfield 😂
They just saw modlist like Nolvus etc are bringing skyrim back to life, no need to say more 😂
But i agree with the idea to pay small price for mod, something like 0.99/download (some mod have been downloaded millions times), and giving may be 90-100% to the modder
I get it, but say you download 100, 200, even 500 to a 1000 mods? Two dollars each adds up. Many modders are using assets they don't own, so perhaps a charge for creation kit which will then cause modders to charge even for small mods. I have fruity pebbles face on my characters from a mod conflict I have to sort. Can you imagine having paid for that? This will hurt new modders and small mods. I'm okay with tested and cleaned mega mod packages maybe having a charge, most like to donate to those if they can. We'll see where this goes.
@@sanguinelynx EXACTLY. People don't realise that £2 a mod would mean the average mod list of something like Nolvus would cost more than 2 brand new high end computers. It's crazy to me how people are willing to get /fucked/ by companies monetising PASSION and LOVE for something until they kill it. Paid modding = me not modding = piracy = game dies. Skyrim is a dead game. Nobody sat here in the last 5 years is playing vanilla unmodded Skyrim. The game lives because of modders and generates sales as a result. They could be grateful but they'd rather be even richer.
But without the game the modder wouldn’t have shit😂
I think modders should be paid for the quality of work provided. All profits should go directly to modders not bethesdas pockets
Skyrim alive because of modders not Bethesda's itself. What they think they are? huh
This dude sounds like Micheal Jackson
😂
Well said my friend.
Thank you Icarus 🙂.
On console atleast. As far as I know. It should not break people's load orders for mods..... hopefully. PC. Nah. Ya'll gotta re-download those 2,000 mods again. 😂💀😭
I believe in the free method as well. But the only thing about that is that most of these mod authors truly bust their butts to make that free mod content we get to see and they dont get paid a dime for that work. Were talking fround breaking stuff here. So im also not against them getting pay for what they do in another avenue. Making some of those mods requires some healthy money in of itself. So i think they deserve "something" for the work they do. These people even occuasionally get harrassed by hate downloaders on a daily. Stuff that makes some mod authors quit the scene. So again im ok with a place people xan spend money to support them.
well, time to backup Skyrim away from Steam, i'm not taking any chances here.
bethesda shoud be ashamed of them selfs they sold over 60 millon koppies of sky rim with all the bugs at +-70 euros agame and now thy whant more money where does it end then
to all the moders out there have done what bethesda could not very good work but to pay for all mods pepole like me can not do
this issue start when some authors of mods sale's there works and Bethesda dont like it cuz they are the developers of this game and they get nothing this sale mod earning money should be stop cuz it breaking the free modding community dont be greedy this game made for free modding not for sale mods the sad part about this is if this update break the modding the game no one going to play this game ever again cuz of greedy bastard mod author
I dont mind 2.99 for a great mod if the money goes to guy who made it, but its gonna be 9.99 and the modder gets 10 cents, the rest is for google and microsoft so I'll pass 😆 wont be buying es6 with this knowledge
Yeah no, not a fan of this change at all, but it doesn't surprise me. Starfield was a bomb and they're firing on all cylinders and avenues to recoup the money with their greedy asses. And what better way than to charge for mods? SO glad I got into PC gaming when i did a few years ago...
If only you people bought starfield and gave it a chance instead of hating on it for no reason
@@_CrimsonBlade oh, so now you’re saying its the fans’ fault? after fallout 76? It’s Microtransactions? How greedy as a company they’ve become? If only you people waited for reviews…. 🤦🏽♂️ #Walletgamers
@@_CrimsonBladestarfield was woke garbage, that's why it failed.
corporate greed
Im fairly sure that their going to be expanding the CC massively. Its an already set up storefront with very little value to interact with when it comes to skyrim due to the anniversary perchase. If they take away the free alternative then their going to be destroyed like last time.
I won't pretend to know what bugthesda is planning, but if they go full run into paid mods again, then im migrating to pc. Even then there most recent releses and how there handeling them dont inspire faith in FO5 or ES6. Honestly their games success has nothing to do with them so this just seems like a pathetic attempt to sqeeeze more money out of their last truely "good" game.
Ps skyrim is a good game but that was well over 11 years ago now and its been released about 8 times. Without mods is a pretty but still very much buggy game(ive yet to see alduin appear during the ES cutscene, without mods, the game is literally unbeatable for me).
Time to move on to to a different game. Skyrim is over 10 years old. Good bye bugthesda.... starfield is a train wreck.. I'm done.
I am playing Hogwarts Legacy right now and I am really enjoying it🧙🏼still plan to go back to Skyrim eventually ☺️
The vast majority of the mods out there are junk. I'd be mad as hell if I paid for a junk mod and couldn't get my money back.
Updating a 12 year old game is goofy and stupid imo
Kinda sus to be honest with you lol
Need money more I don't thing 🙏
Maximum monetization.
It will be interesting let them cook 🍳
No, just No.
They burnt it to a crisp.
You should never let them cook.
