Just watched a bunch of your videos!! Pretty cool how we got to see your upgrade process/path! Very helpful to someone starting from scratch!! Couple questions.. any way you could go back thru your vids and go over more detail about the sound and experience each time ya upgraded? For example, how much different was the overall after upgrading to those emotiva amps/ or the new FR/cr/lr? Also could you maybe make a video about how and why you choose those subs and ATMOS speakers? You’ve got lotsa cool stuff and would like to hear and learn what it sounds now Vs before all your upgrades. Even sound acoustics. Thank you and keep up the good work! 😊
I think I stated in some of the videos the level of improvement...It's hard to go back an think what was the best improvement. My advice treat your room first then upgrade equipment. I think there was a bigger improvement going to the 805s from the 703s, then going to the 804s from the 805s, but that was pre room treatment. Going to the 804s from 805s was initially disappointing. Sure there was an improvement, but not to the degree I thought there would be. However once I started getting the room treated the level of improvement was pretty big. The center channel was a big improvement over the previous one I had. Much wider sound field and clearer even before room treatment. As for the reason I went with the Emotiva amps, I wanted to use every channel available from my AV10 and I was a couple channels short. I saw good reviews on the Emotiva amps and decided rather then adding multichannel amp to add just what I needed. There was a level of improvement over the Monolith, but it wasn't drastic, more so in terms of music. I'll probably in the future add another one to power the center so I have a matching set up front...but honestly while watching movies or playing games you really can't tell the difference. The front 3 speakers are crossed over at 60hz so that extra 100 watts of power really isn't getting pushed. The emotiva's are more musical for sure then the Monolith, but for home theaters and gaming it's pretty close. Reason I chose the SVS subs was they reviewed very well. Going from the sunfire's to the two PB4000s was a big improvement, but adding the 3rd PC4000 to the rear made the biggest difference as it filled in the response dip I had. My room acoustically had some bad dips in sub response even with the two PB4000s up front. As for the atmos channels, when I lived in my condo I could only do height on wall speakers, those were the best options at the time, plus of course they reviewed well. So when moving to the new house and eventually switching to on ceiling, it was just more cost efficient to remount them and add another set on the ceiling then trying some custom in ceiling work. At some point I'll do a long video explaining my upgrade path and whey did what I did and what I learned, but my video editing skills aren't that great.
Impressive set up man. I wish you had a bit of a deeper room and one away from outside sounds so that you could really appreciate the equipment you have. Are you overall happy with it? Would you add a projector/screen if you had the space on the wall? When you watch movies / sports etc, how many people do you usually have watching? what is your ultimate goal?
I'm really happy with it after the room treatment. You really can't hear much ambient noise from the outside especially in the evening hours, and that's when I watch most of my movies and shows. During the day you can hear stuff from outside, but I'm usually playing games or listening to music or weekends watching sports so it's not an issue. Right now I have no interest in a projector. I play a lot of video games on it and the projector can't match the performance of an OLED. I may go a bit bigger next time, However my next TV upgrade probably won't be till 2025. Pretty content with the 77" LG G2. Most of the time it's just myself, but at times I'll have the kids. We'll do some movie watching and play some games. I've pretty much met my goal on it. The system can do it all, and looks and sound great in every aspect. Whether if I just want to stream some high quality music or watch a movie with a better then theater experience. It also excels in gaming. On the weekends I can just sit down there all day and watch football and there is enough room to play with the dogs.
