What does 4 horn parts and 5 trumpet parts have to do with the grade of a piece? That is a pretty standard number of parts. But yeah this is def not a 3.5
This is a Grade 5 on the Texas UIL PML, there is absolutely no way this is a Grade 3 1/2. You’ve graded Cumberland Cross by Carl Strommen as a 4, but this as a 3 1/2? There are definitely some major discrepancies in your grading system.
@@haretakumo1707 when people asked my directors about this they said that it was just since it’s an old piece so grading in general was probably higher/harsher
@@alxwinn_3999 Seventh grade would've been one year after I picked up a trombone the first time - no way I had the skills to play it that soon. I barely could play the third movement during my 5th year of band. Unsure what context 7th grade is for you, but it sounds impressive. Have fun!
@@dbrfreak I started playing the sax in 6th grade so when I was 12 and now I’m in 7th grade about to be 8th. But we only played the first movement which was still extremely difficult for us
Sheesh I did this my sophomore year of high school. Loved every second of it but it took a lot of hard work to make it sound good. Second movement always gave me a “Silent Hunters” vibe of a submarine preparing to attack a convoy.
You have to remember this is one of the older concert band works out there (1963). And I'm sure if I had to take a guess, a grade 3.5 back then was much harder than it was now. I believe the scale has changed since then.
In 1963 this may have been 3.5 but we're talking about 2018 with modern bands and modern directors. They should be using modern grade level assignments.

I think it would be more appropriate to label this as grade 4, especially since Festivo is (by this channel). This is much more challenging than Festivo both technically and musically.
I had to fill my friends spot for this song a few days back because he was absent. He played Timpani on this piece. I broke a timpani mallet during the one measure timpani solo at the end of movement three
Everyone here complaining about the grade level. We did this on recorders in 4th grade, with only field drums for percussion instruments... y'all too soft nowadays.
AINT no way bro I’m in 8th grade percussion and we don’t even play all this we play like the 1st minute and a half way slower than this and it still struggling💀
This song will live forever in my heart.

A grade 3.5 with a high C on piccolo at the end?? Try that again lol

For real this is way too hard for a 3 1/2 💀

Who in God’s great name decided this was a 3.5? It has to be a mistake.
Gotta be some kind of mess up
Grade 6 where I'm from
It’s a different scale
Maslanka's Mother Earth Fanfare is a 3.5 too 😅
I remember playing second trombone on this in high school. So hard and yet soooo much fun.
We just got this piece and im on first. Is the second part way different than the first
I’m playing this in 7th grade rn

VERY difficult for being just Grade 3.5.
This cannot be grade 3.5.

True.
+Mr. Klunee which state are you in for all state? (Just read description of your channel)
I was in the Louisiana all-state Concert Band
@@mr.klunee4103 I am first chair contrabass in Mississippi Lions Band!
This seems more like a 6 or 7 because the trumpet, yes I said trumpets, have runs at the ends
Why was the oboe duet starting at measure 68 rescored for oboe and clarinet?
This is at least a grade 6. Period. The range in the soprano instruments alone qualify it as such, much less the complex metres.
Definitely not grade 6. Grade 5 maybe.
Grade 3.5 and Armenian Dances is a Grade 6... yeah lets try this again lmao

could anyone give me the bari sax part?
Did anyone else’s band director tell them that there’s a rumor that this guy might have dug dirt in his backyard on a bulldozer for fun?

NOT A FAN OVERRATED PIECE BUT GOOD ARRANGEMENT
This recording is great for notes but in my opinion doesn't express any of the emotion of the piece.
