Hi Jay. It would be nice to add a mention somewhere that there are some automation/integration taking place in this video, with the "Unattended guest OS setup" part in Virtualbox. The "traditional" Debian install asks a lot of things not shown here because the install process runs here... uh, well... unattended. :) Quite convenient, though.
Funny how this popped in my recommendations just when I decide to ditch debian from my system =))) Can't do anything with the normal user. Everything installed with sudo is locked under it, I can't even open hexchat or vivaldi =))) Who ever designed it that way must have been on shrooms. Anyway, I do enjoy your videos. I'd love to see more complex, advanced stuff too :D
Hello Jay! I would love to see a video about QEMU from you one day, you did mention it briefly in a video 2 years ago 🙂 Also a fun project for everyone: On Win11 I created a Linux VM but on a partition of my actual harddrive, so I can either dualboot into linux oder boot into windows an launch my real linux system in the VM, which is a great idea if you have a windows work laptop where you also want to use your private linux on, but can't switch during working hours. So you just access your system via the vm. After work you restart and boot into your linux directly, that's great!
Great video, happy the course is out, I’ve been waiting a while checking everyday for it! A little feedback, I was a little disappointed to see it’s not included in my already 30$ a month Udemy subscription. No hate, just wanted to share my initial thoughts. There is probably a lot I don’t know about how all that works on the backend! I’m still excited to buy it soon though!
Had a problem! It showed "Finishing installation" preseed... 14% and died at that point. Only difference from yours is I have VirtuailBox 7.0.18 and updated extension pack installed. Laptop is an ASUS and only 2 years old. Only difference is, I was running 7.0.16, and I never checked the Guest Box.
same here preseed ... 14% i have 4 cores cpu and 32 gb ram, i did put 8gb ram and 2 cpu on the debian. Edit: i had alot of error messages in the log i think it's because my machine bios can't run linux.
Personally I've always had much better experience with VMware Workstation when using Windows 11 as a host. Also quite nicely they just made it free for personal use so if anyone reads this make sure you check that out too as VirtualBox isn't anywhere near as good as VMware imho.
@@entelin hardware acceleration for applications or games within the VM. Also sound in a Hyper-V based VM is terrible to get working well. Honestly Hyper-V isn't a very nice solution if you want to actually use your VM interactively as a desktop, it is fine for headless servers you just access over the network.
@@satysin630 Why would one want to use a vm for that though? You have your native system... it seems like just a complex way of wasting resources for a worse result. Virtualbox would be garbage for gaming anyway (assuming it works at all) since it doesn't do pcie passthrough. I just don't understand the premise. You're on windows or linux system and you want to do all the graphics and sound stuff in a vm instead? why? just reverse the rolls and you're good.

Top tier content. I learned how to use VMs from you thanks.

whts the problem really?? I don't have these kind of problems. just edited sudoers file to set my user permissions.
does this auto install the desktop?

Sending this to my friends rn
Just wondering. Why don't you use KVM!
I highly recommend removing Windows and installing Debian on real machine. It will go faster.
how do you choose installation options??
Starting in win10 hyperv is built in, why bother with a 3rd party virtualization tool?

Same here on HP Elitebook G5 850
@@skshahnawaz-ulhaque - So how about this problem Linux TV?

Why use either? HyperV is built in
@@entelin Last I used Hyper-V it lacked 3D acceleration. Has that changed?
@@satysin630 Not sure, never tried it. What would be the purpose?

I wish I had your internet speed!
When Debian desktop shows up it's not fullscreen. How to change this behaviour to fullscreen automatically after showing up like in Ubuntu?
VMware workstation is now free 😁
Not open source though.
It's not - so stop promoting those scammers.
Does the new VirtualBox doesn't need the Extension Pack????
If you require the extra features provided by the extension pack, then you will need to install it.
what to do if you want to install just the core? or server?
