That’s why we stay at Royal Pacific at Universal, free express pass. Their passes are always soooo much. Cheaper for the room for a night than for 4 express passes!

Us too, free passes also early hours and the parks are never as busy as Disney 😉

I agree. Staying at a Deluxe Universal hotel is a better deal than buying the cheapest Universal hotel and buying express separately

Universal express is crazy expensive, and I am not denying that, but I do think it is worth pointing out that universal express guarantees that you will ride all of the rides. You walk up to them whenever you would like and use the express lane. Disney Genie plus allows you to schedule your lightning lane reservation, at the next available time, and then you cannot schedule another one until you have either ridden your reserved ride or two hours have passed, So, it remains to be seen how many rides that $15 actually allows you to ride with lightning lane, because eventually the reservations will fill up for the day, just like they did with the old fast pass systems.

Also express pass also allows you to ride as many times as you like

“Starts at” was $69 at Universal in Orlando in July. I thought it would be a nice gesture to get it for my son and grandson while we were there for the day. They said it was over $250 per person! 😱 . It was cheaper to upgrade their passes! Now they get the quick pass after 4 every time they go.
BTW, Disney started extra magic hours. Slowly adjusting it.
Altho the Magical Express is discontinued as of January, Mears is taking it over…for a few of course. I don’t know what they will call it.
And finally, the dining package is coming back.
    So many ups and downs!
    Great reporting!

This comparison is way off and is comparing apples to pears. Express Pass Unlimited does not equal Disney Genie+. Should have used Express Pass (non-unlimited version) and also added in the Disney Genie+ cost to ride the individual premium attractions (2x$15) to be a more fair comparison. Universal still more? Yes, but brings the gap a lot closer together.

A few years ago Universal tickets were 100.00 for 4 days and we stayed at the portofino for a reasonable rate of around 250 a night and it included front of the line access. Things sure have changed

Just wanted to note that Universal unlimited express pass is included when you stay in one of the top three Universal hotels. This summer with an annual pass discount we stayed in Portofino Bay for $279/ night ($315 with taxes and fees) but it included 4 unlimited express passes (one for for every person staying in the room). Also, we found the food at Universal (though not as good as at some places in Disney - totally agree with you there) to be significantly cheaper for sit down restaurants.

Aldi & the movie Eternals. The only other cruise channels I watch are Tony’s & Don’s and they do more “news” than you do. But yours seem to be more in-depth about the voyages or trips you go on. I’ve been subscribing to your channel the longest. Good content.

I think Disney's Genie is priced where EVERYONE will just get it. So essentially it just raises the price by $15 for every ticket, and everyone will use the Genie line. Whereas when we visited Universal, I noticed many will not pay the high price for a pass.

Got 2 commercials one for a money management thingy and hayfever remedies. I always seem to get Chemist Warehouse ads and I detest Chemist Warehouse chemists because the aisles are tall and narrow and cluttered and it always makes me feel trapped and claustrophobic whenever I have the misfortune of no other choice of chemist.

It's an interesting comparison that's for sure! But I'd be curious to see the actual numbers of how many they are willing to sell per day.. for instance, at Universal I was under the impression they sell a limited number of front of the line tickets per day hence the higher cost, and if they sell out they sell out. But with Disney it sounds like if you want Genie+ you can have it if you pay for it, meaning they could possibly "oversell" it which could have an interesting impact on the length of the Lightening Lane queues and regular queues. (but I imagine that's one of the reasons why they are limiting people to once per day for each ride)
There's still so much up in the air so it will be curious to see how the launch goes and how it does during the busy seasons. For now, I've got my popcorn and just watching the show..

All those cruise news channels say the same thing. You are original and different. RUclips knows Disney sells. Maybe title every post with Disney comparison.
After hearing the prices for all those parks, I think a week cruise in a suite is cheaper as most or all food is included.
Ads were both for diet programs.

In comparison my local theme park, Luna Park St Kilda, for unlimited rides (no fast pass option) is 0-3 $18, 4-12 $41.50 and 13+ $51.50 ($13.55, $31.23, $38.76 USD). A family pass of 1 adult (13+) and 3 children (4-12) or 2 adults and 2 children is $155 ($116.66 USD). A yearly pass is $120 ($90.31USD) per year. With 19 attractions plus the usual arcade gallery and food places.

Watching people on youtube at Disney World today testing it out, everything has tax added to it. So that $15.00 is $15.99. After opening Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was an extra $10 ($10.65 w/tax) and Space Mountain an extra $7 ($7.46 w/tax). But this morning Genie+ was not needed except for those two rides as everything else had short wait times. It may be worth it in the afternoon when the park as more people.

Even more so than the price change, what bothered me is that it seems you have to wake up at midnight to purchase Genie plus and then up by 7am to buy the paid lightning lanes? Unless I am misunderstanding the process.. hopefully? I am our official planner in the family and the planning can already be so stressful considering this is our "vacation" time. I feel like this adds another level of stress and forces the planner to lose sleep on a trip where you are already up with the sun in many cases and hoping to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

    • @shannonblakely5963
      @shannonblakely5963 3 года назад +1

From what I have seen in other videos, you can buy genie + at 12am of your park visit but you can also wait until say 6:45am so you can start booking your first attraction at 7am. If you want to buy it ahead of your visit you have to buy it for everyday of your trip. If you only want Genie + on some days of your visit, you have to buy the day of. I agree, it makes the planning a lot more work. You can buy the ‘extra special’ ride lines without buying genie +. You just pay per ride.

  • @aerocoaster3252

Don’t worry. If by some miracle Disney’s Genie and Genie+ apps actually work as advertised for the park guests, which, given Disney’s past record with IT projects, is by no means a certainty, you can be sure they will quickly crank up the price to all that the traffic will bear and beyond. I would just like to point out that the Genie+ and Lightning Lane systems sound they are royal pains to use (get up early for that 7:00 a.m. competition and then keep accessing your phone all day long to continue to let Disney manipulate you into going wherever they think you will spend more money), whereas the competing parks are offering line cutting products that do not require much guest effort to use other than forking over the extra cash.

I caught on when you added the price of Genie Plus but did you add the amount also for Lightning Lanes too? If so I missed it. Don't the other parks' equivalents include all of the rides but Disney needs to have Lightning Lanes too in order to get on all the rides faster?

Great video! Thanks for breaking it down. This makes the point that it's actually surprising how similarly priced Disney is compared to the others, when they have a superior product IMO. You're right it's not quite the same when comparing LL to Express pass unlimited, but who knows, maybe Disney will roll something like that out in the future!

You can't compare Universal and Disney, the express pass is unlimited and direct acces to any attraction. And stay at a higher tear hotel at Universal you get it for free. Also the hotels are in general cheaper at Universal and you get much more for your buck. Also the anual passes are like 1/4 of the price of a Disney pass. And when you look at HHN passes and entry tickets compared to Mickey's so called Halloween party they are double to tripple. Then there is also free party's at Universal like Mardi Grass.

While this does make the Disney system look better, to me... they all look like usurious greedy corporations... I have no desire to feed them any money... and yes parks like these can be great experiences, but so can .. oh I dunno .. sailing the med or the Caribbean, visiting the Grand Canyon... but.. I am old and thrill rides just mess with my equilibrium and walking on concrete for days on end and waiting in line .. is nto a vacation and not really relaxing... but.. yeah.. I am too old for it now.. ;)
