  • Something a little different today, this time we decided to do a little maintenance and clean-up of our favorite trail. Towing a trailer certainly makes the mud holes quite a bit more challenging.

7 years ago I was 10 and i watched Rompin' Around. I thought off road mowers were the coolest thing. I got some do something fearless stickers and put them on my bicycle and ripped around in the mud till I wrecked the bike. Now I'm 17 and have a mower of my own and I love it. Thanks so much for being a great teacher and inspiration over the years. I just thought I should thank you.

Yall was truly bogging that day. Good clean up. Hey you found a Subaru 🤣. Building a Montgomery wards mud mower rolling on 27x12x12 Vamps and 24" fronts. Shaft driven to a gear box then belt to the peerless 2300. Shes all torn down and being painted. 2020 ATLTF Build Entry. Swing by and take a look at the video series. Love to have your input. Thanks!

By next spring I hope to start bothering everybody with a bunch of questions about the best drive pulleys and so on.
      Good luck with your project.
Even the most horrible are better than not doing something at all.

That looks like a great time. I have several old mowers kicking around and a few Ford garden tractors. QUESTION?? full hydro or belt driven rears. What is better for building a mud mower. Belt drives definitely give you pulley options for speed, but was wonder why you choose what you have. Great video and looking forward to more mudding.

I prefer gear-driven over hydrostatic. Mostly because you can pulley swap them. I'd like to try a shaft drive someday, but have yet to get my hands on one

I love your vids, and this one's no exception- makes me yearn to find a good excuse for building a tractor myself :D
But friend, at 12:36 I noticed something iffy..
If your piece somehow went off while you were riding, the bullet could ricochet off the seat and into your thigh.
I'm no medico, but I've heard there are some sizeable arteries in that general area, so If you were far out on the trail...
In the end it's all up to you- I just figured it'd be a real lousy way to get hurt, so a warning might not be unwelcome.

Hello Fearless, I've just discovered all of this. You and the whole 'Mud Mower' thing. I've got to say that I would have never thought of such a thing but I having fun watching your videos.
Anyways, the reason I found you was that I was looking for information on the Yamar clone diesel. I'm having a tough time finding information on them. I have the opportunity to pick one up for a good price. It appears to be the same one you're running. Someone bought one a few years back for a project that never happened, now they've offered it to me. What I'm trying to find out is whether or not that engine has an alternator or not. And if so, what size?
I'm hoping you can shed some light on the matter. It's a 6 hour drive (round trip), so it's not like I can just go over and take a peek into the box myself.
    Thanks.
