@@vastenvironmentsI have started late September last year. I gave my full time dedication of learning since I have read all of robert kiyosaki's books. then I found no nonsense forex I watched and listened repeatedly to vp's podcast and videos. I become so obsessed. most of my freetime I did a lot of backtesting in different settings until I have finally completed my algo. most important for me is the money management you must be flexible to the firm's parameters. i did fail 7 times on test time. being persistent what matters most. keep failing and learn from your failures. I learned the painful way. it is all worth it!

This seems to be an exception in his video series. This is one video where I think he has got it wrong. He entirely focussed on using CCI for entry confirmation, and then trashed it saying it's made for commodities/stock-futures, not for forex etc etc. But he seemingly missed looking at it from a continuation indicator. In the very charts he has shown, there are valuable continuation signals CCI is giving, that would have made a lot of money. Go figure.

Sir, In forex pairs SPREAD TRADING do you recommend use of CCI (say on1H chart--cci 7,cci 14, cci30,cci50 values & add all these values on each pairs to spread & compare overpriced/underpriced leg). The pairs got to have correlations of at least 90%(say aud/usd &nzd/usd--aud/jpy &nzd/jpy--eur/jpy & gbp/jpy--gbp/aud & gbp/nzd etc.).Sell the overpriced & buy underpriced. This would give trader starting edge, staying power, size choice & risk control. You would be comparing deflection of prices summed up on multiple time frames(added up/robust) for asset A & B. Your wisdom is appreciated

Hey VP! You should do a podcast about hindsight in forex, it is a nightmare to deal with when you are just starting out. I spent 2-3 yrs just to not think «i should have done this, should have done that». Would be interesting to hear your perspective on hindsight, and how you deal with it.
I bet psycology will not be as popular though.

VP is great...but...when I saw this 9 months ago, I threw out the CCI without ever using it...have since come across a way of using the CCI as a continuation indicator that works brilliantly. Just like he says about tweaking, I think many indicators can be used successfully if you take the time...the dirty dozen he rightly describes are pretty poor if used the way most use them, but there are many other ways that work well.

your right vp it makes a ton of sense. Not only does the overbought/oversold concept prove futile to currency trading, but the standard deviation factor thats calculated with the cci would cause so many whipsaws that retail traders would not only give them mixed signals, but provide opportunities for the big banks to slaughter them.

watched hundreds of channels all the same .. trading fundamentaland, technical, CCI, Fib, Elliot's, RSI, u name it, compined or separet, even complicated patterns. and you get 4 or 5 losses to get 1 win.. All that "it's an art not science" shit,, no, simply this way is for retailers.. bumping small ammounts to the big banks bockets.
and then comes VP , suddenly it makes sense. for first time in years i got the edge, a chance to win more than lose, thanks for every video, blog , podcast, tweet, every minute you spend to share your priceless experiance.

When using the CCI its all about the subdivision of time frames and using a moving average like the 13. When finding a start of a new daily trend you have to go down to the 4HR CCI for the entry. CCI on the 4HR will cross over from -90 to +90 when the daily candle on daily chart is going through the 13 MA long. CCI on the 4HR will ride the top of the cci indicator until the daily trend is finished and then cross over to -90. This is the start of a new daily trend going short. The 4HR gives you daily trend starts, the daily cci will give you the start of weekly trends and the 30 min cci will give you 4HR trends. I've used this for years and it works great.

there is nothing wrong with the CCI indicator. All it does is take a standard MA line from the chart and plot is as an oscillator. The zero line then equates to price. Everytime the zero line is crossed it simply means the chart SMA is getting crossed by price action. The extremes of the oscillator therefore indicate extreme deviation of the chart SMA away from price and therefore indicate a 'possible' reversion to mean price. So the comment that its a 'commodities related indi' is null and void. It simply charts price-SMA relationship.
A more useful way to use it is as a confirmation of existing trend and reentry into trend rather than a reversal indi

Fully agree. I successfully use the CCI with custom settings on a lower time frame. Unfortunately using the CCI with a period of 14 on the daily chart and not using zero as a reference is not going to work. I'm still waiting for some of the theory to be shown on a live chart.

There's another way to use it, though there exist better options for that too. One can use it to spot momentum decelerations, aka divergences. In the EURUSD chart you show, I noticed by eye 3 trades based on divergences that seemed profitable. The point is that for most newbies it is hard to spot divergences and no simple (i.e. free) indicators exist to help them.

The last point on the "In Conclusion" slide summed it up for me VP. That is where I am currently, this has become the best addiction I've ever had and lord knows I've had a few. Up until I had found your channel I was skeptical that a system could be put together as a constellation of technical indicators to trade successfully in spot forex. Never too proud to admit when I am wrong, and boy was I. To anyone else who has not begun the search, do not put it off any longer, you are just adding more time to the difference between now and when you have your system assembled. It will be harder to stop searching than it will be start, but that is another thing altogether. GGI.

    Hi, I'm A new Trader,
Lately i try to find how to trade H4 only by my phone, i used this CCI with specific method, and yes i use it as zero line indicator, combining with base line method given by VP, it gives me a better profit than i used to, and for trading only with cell phone i think its quite okay, do i win big, sometimes, can i win bigger, that is what we want to achieve here, but for me testing a new method, i used my CCI method as a minimum benchmark for achievable profit.
but at the end, what can you expect from using cell phone for FX trading? if you got profit consistently no matter how small it is, you have to be gladful for it because you are using less than good indicator.
and thank you VP for giving me perspective how to use indicator, don't use indicator because the internet tells you, but look back into your method, what this indicator can do for you with your method.

You didn't say that sucks so I'm going to call it a win.

thanks for your videos. even though i don't trade forex, only equities your videos helped me take the step of coming up with an alert based trading system. up until i started watching your videos 2 weeks ago i just traded on my feelings basically if something is oversold or overbought and i've been losing money for the past 2 years. now i found a platform that allows me to do backtesting of indicators on different timeframe to find what works and what doesn't. i thought it would be easy but so far i've spent about 24 hours in the past week testing different combinations. found some good stuff and alot of crappy stuff but nothing that satisfies me yet. In the backtests i keep getting chopped up in sideways markets. Will keep trying though, not giving up until i find a true winner.

I Agree on fundamental you don't really have to understand it
    BUT
If you do it will allow you to grab some big big pips time to time
Just closed a sell position today on GBPUSD got 400pips
I would have taken profit long ago but because of fundamental I held on
(I think GBPUSD could come down more
And make new all time low)
If I see a pullback and the fundamental has not changed I will re enter

Hey VP, could you or anyone else in your community recommend someone who is like you, but for stock trading instead of forex? Even as a stock trader I just wanted to thank you for what you're doing, most of your information can be applied here as well I've found and even as a newbie, I've already been making money with a poorly optimized algorithm that really needs more backtesting/doing the math, and proper money management with the ATR and scaling out. Mostly just working with MA's like you've talked about in your videos and the Aroon which you have said is in your top 100 indicators, but I'd like to know more about which indicators are really good for stock trading even if they aren't good for forex. Who is the VP of stock trading? Or just some good videos you could recommend? I trust you guys a lot.
Again, though: thank you. Keep doing what you're doing, us lowly unwashed retail traders really need this sort of no nonsense information in an ocean of BS trying to scam us.

@@NoNonsenseForex Thanks so much, I'll check him out for sure. I will say at the very least, every time I've heard you mention "this indicator wasn't even made for forex, it was made for stocks!" my ears perk up, lol. I still tend to avoid those indicators like the MACD though, if for no other reason than because they're popular and you've said it is best to avoid popular stuff. I've currently been working on a triple EMA strategy that I'm trying to finish optimizing at the moment, mostly to avoid false trending signals if possible.
I noticed the CCI or Williams%R might be the answer here, in the way you're using it in your videos, since I've noticed those tend to be in the middle during a few of these periods I've backtested. CCI seems better so far. I like the Aroon a lot too, something you've mentioned is in your top 100 indicators, but it can be hard to find the right setting, though 25 has been pretty good so far (even though it's a common setting choice). Extensive backtesting is so essential, but again like you've said, finding a solid system is worth however long it takes because once you have it, you have it for the rest of your life and it will just keep making you money.
Main thing I'm looking into right now is working on the Volume indicator part. What do you think about On Balance Volume (OBV), do you think you could ever do a video on it? Or should I mostly just look at the volume bars and compare their sizes to see if the market is dead or not? I've definitely noticed low volume in some areas where my indicators are kinda screwy, so that could be the key as well to avoiding those bad trades. Like you say, we win when we don't lose, that's one of my main focuses right now. I know all of the hard work will be worth it, I've already been seeing results (first month as a trader and already made almost $1k on a $30k account), so again, sincerely, thank you and keep up the great work. Even though I trade stocks, not forex, your channel has still been the best for teaching me pretty much everything I need to know. If I want to dig a bit deeper into something you talk about, I read comments from the community and look up other videos related to what you're talking about, but it's mostly just been learning from here and then backtesting stuff on thinkorswim.
One last aside as well: have you ever used the hull moving average? If so what do you think about it? Very interesting indicator which I've seen used in a ton of different ways, would be cool to see a video with your take on its uses or if you should just avoid it. I feel like there is something really powerful there and have tested it on all sorts of timeframes with all sorts of different periods, testing trading the change in slope to price action crossovers on it, but I haven't quite found the ultimate setting yet. I don't really use it much in my main algorithm but I still play around with it because it fascinates me.

    Honest backtesting is brutal.
When I really started backtesting rigorously and followed the rules to the t, I found I had a hard time breaking 60% across all pairs. I see all these people showing results of 70%, 80%, 85% on the discord, and I’ll be honest, I just don’t believe them. I think their showing one pair. I think the inner dialogue is taking over, saying “oh I would have taken that trade” when in truth that line didn’t quite cross and in forward testing you wouldn’t have taken it. Or that loss that you say you wouldn’t take when you can see the results, but in truth you would have taken it. Simply being honest with the rules brought me from above 70% to around 55%, so far across 12 pairs. If someone is right on 80% of their trades, minimizing the pips lost on the other 20% with the exit indicator and baseline, and then catching big trends with just a small % of those 80% wins, you’d be doubling your account every year. I doubt anyone here will come close to that, when the inventor of the system does 30% a year.
I’ve found that things get really complicated when you put all 5 indicators together and start trying to find the best settings. You have to adjust the rules at times. I’m at the place where I know I have something good, but not great. Not yet. I think that gap between a good system that is profitable, and a great system that gives you a path to financial freedom is quite wide. A small % will simply get lucky in finding the right combo quickly, but I’ve found good indicators after months of searching, and have tweaked my settings dozens of times across those indicators, and still seek that holy grail. Still a long way to go

    • @nathanhays6580

I feel your pain. I back tested 4 yrs back across 15 pairs and it was brutal. I then started forward testing and am in my 3rd month now. I went from 85% in back testing to now so far 70% in forward testing. Quite a difference for sure but I've got a few months to go. I dont forsee hitting 85% at all. Keep searching and testing the hard work will eventually pay off.

The only thing that i dont like about this video is that youre using the cci as a stand alone indicator. Im positive you would se better results trend trading with it. The video also does not talk about stop losses and managing trade. Alot of these bad trades you say would actually turn out good with a strategy and risk management based off of your account size. This is just 1 way to trade this indicator that youre showing. This is the standard way of trading based off of the inventor. It can certainly work if it is done right.
