Definitely, he is Mamamoo's Uncle the first time they had the girls on his show. He definitely knows talent when he sees one, and helps them to become successful and be well known and recognize publicly, not just in South Korea, but all of the world, or rather the Universe.
As far as I know, Yu Heeyul is the one who singlehandedly found IU and put her on the path of stardom also.
He has eyes for talent.
actually many other well-known artists also come from HeeYeol recommendation. some of them even make their debuts in Sketchbook with his help.
He has such a dad vibe 😂

YHY Sketchbook has become their second home after Immortal song which says a lot about them. I'm so proud and happy that they are well respected. Great and unexpected compilation I love it
YHY compliments a lot of girl groups but with Mamamoo , I just felt like there was this proud and excitement that truly resembles an uncle or a father would be when he's bragging about his niece or daughter. and he has all the rights to be, some of mamamoo's greatest medley were performed exclusively on Sketchbook and i've always loved their stages on this show. i can't wait to see Hwasa on Sketchbook again! i won't be surprised if YHY would a whole episode for her as well; both of them seems so comfortable with each other.
It takes groups years to go on sketchbook. They have to build up their live singing first. And they have to be invited. But mamamoo has been coming since debut and thats damn impressive. Live skills since debut
Mamamoo can do their weirdest performances in Sketchbook since they’re so comfortable with him hahaha

The thing is all of what he said about Mamamoo all sounds genuine and unique every single time they guesting on the show. It came from what he himself actually thought, saw, and experienced, not like any other shows "general" description of mamamoo, like the usual girl crush, belismamoo, beagles, etc. which felt all the more meaningful cause it means he truly loves and respects them :')
I didn't realize they'd been on Sketchbook that often, that's great.

Yoo hee yeol is a great musician. He tries to protect new singers and help them grow as best as he can. I've been following his artists ( the Antenna Angels) since their debut. Eventhou he is very strict, he really wish the best for them. Even willing to go to weekly idols to promote his artists.
