talking about Bigelow made me think it's always good to dream of a world where its a full female line-up in Director, and so far there are at least five with prestige/award-buzz for that
-Greta Gerwig "Barbie" (Box Office Smash)
-Justine Triet "Anatomy of a Fall" (Palme D'Or at Cannes)
-Caroline Markowicz "Toll" (Tribute Award for Emerging Filmmaker at TIFF)
-Alice Rohrwacher "La Chimera" (Silver Medallion for Best Director at Telluride)
-Celine Song "Past Lives" (Golden Bear Nominee at Berlin, Great Letterboxd Score)
    wildcard
-Raine Allen Miller "Rye Lane" (Black Director, Great Critic Reviews, Good Letterboxd)

I believe it when stated they expanded to 10 Best Films to include more populous films but, really, The Dark Knight was just an extraordinary film no matter how you cut it And I'm Not one of those genre film lovers. It was just supremely crafted.

Monique issue was more about pay. She wasn't paid what was promised for Precious and they weren't paying her to campaign for Precious. This was one of many examples of black talent not being paid or under paid for the work that they done.
The Big joke about the network UPN was that it stand for Under Paid Negros.
Monique had two shows on UPN, Moesha and The Parkers. She was just had enough of being famous and broke.
By the way before WB and UPN merged into the CW, it was promised that they would keep the black shows. Well most of the black shows were cancelled.
There were two shows that made it two CW, Girlfriends and The Game which were of course cancelled quickly.
I remember those two shows weren't promoted and the schedule kept getting changed.
By the way UPN had manage to come up for the pay raises for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer that WB was unwilling to give the talent for the last two seasons of the show while still paying the black talent on that network pennies.
Chris Rock on the Oprah Winfrey show joked that UPN stand for Under Paid Negros.

Guys, first: thank you for this season of Oscars playback!, it was great to reminiscent all those ceremonies and the good and terrible (crash) winners. But I just want to say that you missed a big opportunity to talk about a potential supporting actress nominee, Mariah Carey for Precious, LOL, it baffles me up to this day, but she was seriously talked about, she even got an Image NAACP nomination, I wanted to hear your reaction about it.
Chris I know you answer some of this comments, please enlighten us with your opinion about Mariah, her acting and awards prospect hahaha. Thanks!
