    Please allow me to assist my fellow Kisii sister on a couple points from my GHC subject in my primary education in Kisii. Most populous tribes in Kenya are as follows:
    Kikuyu - 22 percent
    Luhya - 14 percent
    Kalenjin - 12 percent
    Luo - 11 percent
    Kamba - 9 percent
    Meru - 6 percent
    Kisii - 6 percent
    Somali- 6 percent.
    Kenya’s second president was a Kalenjin, he governed from 1978-2002, a total of 24 years, the longest serving president.

    Most popular tribes in Kenya are Kikuyus, Luos, Kalenjin, Luhyas and to some extent Maasais. Ruto is the second President who is non Kikuyu, Moi who is also Kalenjin like Ruto was the first. Kisumu is a very beautiful town, the cleanest city in Kenya.
    Kisumu is a charming and friendly town on Lake Victoria, and the third largest city in Kenya after Nairobi and Mombasa. This vibrant city is the largest in Western Kenya and offers a rich mix of culture and nature.

    Kisumu is in western part of Kenya . In post Independence Kenya Kisumu was in Nyanza province .
    Under British Colonization the territories south of Kisumu were considered South Nyanza, those close to Kisumu, Central Nyanza and those North of Kisumu, North Nyanza .
    Present day Western Province primarily inhabited by Luhya groups was North Nyanza . Kisumu was the capital of Eastern Uganda , under British East Africa .
    The capital of British East Africa was Mombasa .

      The groups around Lake Victoria were historically referenced as Kavirondo Nilotics or the Luo and Kavirondo Bantus or the Luhya(abaluhya), Kuria(abakuria), Kisii(abagusii) and the smaller known Kavirondo(abakavirondo) who were eventually assimilated by the Luo .
      The kavirondo preceded other Bantu groups in the region . The Luo also assimilated the Bantu Suba, linguistically, socially, culturally and through intermarriages over centuries .

      Historically the Nilotic Luo, led by skilled warriors such as Owiny and Lwanda Magere, fought several territorial conflicts with their Nilotic Kalenjin neighbors, particularly the Nandi and Kipsigis groups .
      Historically Nilotic groups including the Maasai, Turkana, Toposa, Karamoja, Samburu etc had conflicts over grazing land due to their pastoralist lifestyles .

    • @papd3532
      @papd3532 22 дня назад

      But the Luo like other Nilotic groups were pastoralists but also were primarily river lake Nilotes(like other groups along the Nile valley) with extensive boat-making and fishing cultures due to their Origin in the Nile Valley of Sudan/Lower Egypt .
      In addition the Luo practiced small scale farming in the past but at a lower level compared to their neighboring Bantu groups who were primarily farmers .

      Tribalism isn't a disease it's good to be proud of your tribe,the ancestors of our tribes have carried our lineages for thousands of years we have to respect our tribal identity, loving your tribal identity doesn't mean you hate anybody else,and if you did any research about kenya you would know there was tribal clashes in 2007

      @@Brian-bo4bz It's a new era. Sure, tribal pride is important but the Gen Z's almost changed and united the African world this past summer. One of their platforms - no more tribalism. It almost worked. Looks we're gonna slide backwards. Carry on!

      If you knew anything about Kenyan politics you would know that the tribeless tag in the recent demonstrations was just a mobilizing slogan,even during the protests people were throwing tribal slurs and a tribal political pact is what ended the protests, people from the opposition regions of the coast and lake Victoria region were given cabinet appointments and everyone including gen z in those regions stopped protesting,the hottest topic in kenya right now two months later is the Mount kenya region and their politics, we were our tribes before the British came and made this country called Kenya, tribal identity precedes national identity so stop guilt tripping people for identifying as their ethnicities, if we adopt this tribeless narrative we become like ships without anchors and start floating around with western ideologies because the kenyan national identity is heavily influenced by colonial history and western influence, black Americans identity as black and American, black is their ethnic identity and American their national,same to latin Americans and Jewish Americans, Jews identifying as Jewish then Americans never stopped them from being successful so stop scapegoating tribal pride for negative impacts that have nothing to do with it

    • @Brian-bo4bz
      @Brian-bo4bz 22 дня назад

      Kenya is what it is because of our diversity which we don't view as a bad thing, we are proud of it, you think a Kenyan Somali from the north eastern region has the same culture as a luo from lake Victoria region? One is a nomadic pastoralist community heavily centered on camel herding while the other is Nilotic and heavily reliant on fishing,tribe is not just names its rooted in ancestry,cultural norms and beliefs and some are very different,so we should all forget our cultures and become these westernized English speaking city dwelling people with our primary cultural identity being the heavily western influenced modern Kenyan identity that was formed from British colonialism and view that as progress? We take the best of both worlds and put our cultures together to build a country we are proud of, ethnic pride is the grassroot,if you can't be proud of your ethnic identity you can't be proud of your national or racial identity,it starts from the bottom going up not the other way around

      Even the term gen z comes from America and has nothing to do with how Africans arranged their age sets,the whole baby boomers, millennials and gen z are western influences on Africans
