Man, I get palpitations when I open an IKEA box, this is next level!!
Excellent work - your solo work ethic continues to amaze me🙂
Your attention to detail, explaining each step and CLEANLINESS is top notch. Great work. Looking forward to part 2.
Not sure about using that old jumper to clean the bores though.
I've been looking forward to this. Love the fact that you're saving this car and showing what is possible. Keep up the good work my man.
Juggling a full time job, family life and every other day stuff and you still manage to produce fantastic to watch content, a proper grafter Dean! Mega impressed! This channel should have a lot more subscribers, you work ethic and time spent explaining stuff is second to none and you should be really proud of yourself
The patience of a saint well done dean
Great progress. A little tip for you put a dot of paint on each bolt after its torqued so when you come back later you know what had been done 👍 looking forward to the next installment
So everyone, lube up your rings before insertion and connecting to the shaft, or you'll break your rods.
The detail is perfect. When I've watched others doing similar, I'd always thought they were cutting corners, and yours shows how it should be done. I'd imagine most of this would apply regardless of the engine type so the extra info is great.
This is enthralling Dean, brilliant in depth viewing. Can't wait to watch rest of the build.
Can’t wait for the first start up , love this video 👌👍
That's got to be one of the best 22mins on youtube out there! Something very satisfying about watching a V8 engine being built.
Wonderful to enjoy watching an engine rebuild being done meticulously. Dean, you certainly know what you are doing...years of knowledge put to the test. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next part. Cheers, Bob
That was incredibly well done. Very impressive - the last time I did anything complicated on a car was 40 yrs ago on my first mini 1000!
Absolutely amazes me to see an engine like that in complete pieces only for someone to put it back together & it actually works !! I get a sweat on changing light bulb !!! Can't wait to hear that awesome v8 burst back into life, great content Dean.
What a terrific tutorial / education you've provided today Dean.
Now looking forward even more to the subsequent parts of this engine rebuild.
Brilliant channel. Thanks 👍
This is my kind of video. Haven’t stripped an engine in years and just watching you do this Dean gives me chills. Love it 👍👍👍👍👍
Im learning so much about engines when im watching you. Great work!
What about the gaps between crank and bearings, I think you should check it before torque with special paste to match the footprint on wideness
Great content Dean! Loving it!!
in depth, is good. I'm no mechanic, so great to see at this level.
Fantastic content Dean, your patience is incredible, proper old school mechanic, unlike some so called fitters today. Looking forward to next video 👍👍
The detail in these videos answers so many questions I've had for AGES. Thank you
Roll on Pt2 , I’ve been waiting & looking forward for this rebuild to start, great job Dean 👍🏻
Dean, you have inspired me to upgrade the cam in my 2.0 ABA engine. Wish me luck! 😅
Looks so good when all the parts come back looking fresh! Great rebuild so far, keep them coming 👌🏻
Little tip for you, when clamping the rings on the piston, leave some skirt exposed to help line up the piston/liner when installing. Great work for personal build.
I’ve got an identical 07 black manual 20k miles since I got it new .I’ve put off watching you videos as mine was in for a crank seal and clutch ….lack of use ! One other thing to look out for , is the transfer shaft seal and bearing .
Luckily it was found when they were in there , or it would have been grim ! You’re doing great pal 👍Can’t wait to see her up and running .
Love you explaining everything! Keep up the quality content.
Its a good job you tidied up that unit!! Great work
Nice one - love this stuff! So many other channels are superficial and the nitty gritty of the mechanics and electrics is what I like 👍
Great Video Dean whoever trained you done a great job frightening looking at that work bench full of bits. This is coming from a ex HGV Mechanic, another level mate
Level of detail is amazing. Thanks for the content
Brilliant. I could watch this for 2 or 3 hours and be engrossed. Good work Dean.
Good luck 🙏🙏 lucky you got the crank checked 👍👍
that is mind-blowing. watching you is about as close as I will ever get to building something as complicated as that!
Enjoyed this video don’t change ur format it’s easy to follow and informative 👍👍
Nice work. Thank you for taking the time to show us all the details. I looking forward to see the next video 🙄. Thank you!🙂
Loved the video. Dreading the timing gear assembly. Cheers, Nick
I've built quite a few bike engines over the years, but this motor is next level building skill, hats off to you mate 👍
Yeah, I've built a few low tech 4 pot car engines but this is scary.
Thank you very much!
Excellent video and explanation, got more patience than me, well done , looking forward to the rest of it
22:24 Brilliant as ever mate! The satisfaction you must get when you turn the key for the 1st time must be fantastic. Kudos mate. 😎
Cracking video as always Dean 👌 ..... look fwd to the nxt part
You're at the critical stage now Dean, looking good so far matey.
I replaced my DPF pressure sensor today only breaking 1 plastic clip in the process & dropping just a single screw that was never to be found again, if only I'd seen your video first and how easy you make it look I might have rebuilt my entire engine and transmission whilst I had my adjustable spanner and bent nose pliers handy!!
What a perfect vid ;and awesome work on the R8 engine 💪🏾
Superstar, so impressive also given the value of the parts… top job
Good work Dean.
It’s amazing the last engine I rebuilt was a Mercedes M114 (2.5 i6) from the late 60’s and the bottom end rebuild has very little difference in process/design in how they go together, guess it’s proof that the IC engines design and very concept was nailed years ago. I know once you get to the heads and ancillaries there is huge advancement. 👍🏻
Your a brave chap. Respect.
Hi Dean, excellent work as always, hopefully you'll have it running soon can't wait to hear it per
Top work, I did a 2.0L, 16V Vauxhall C20XE for my Kit Car four years ago and the engine strip down and rebuild was the most enjoyable part. You have another four pistons, too.. Really enjoy the streams and your attention to detail is amazing and you juggle lots of balls in the air at the same time.
Absolutely love watching these engine rebuilds so interesting keep them coming please.
Not an Audi fan but seeing you tackle something as elaborate and complicated as this you can't help but still take an interest bravo👏bring on the next instalment
Wow Dean, what a job !!!! . I for one wouldn't know where to start !!!! . Good job you do ... ha ha . Goid video , well done ..
Great work…..love the detail! Top man 👌
Absolutely first class Dean
Brilliant video I been so looking forward to watching this rebuild
I found myself holding my breath as you were mating the 2 casings, those bloody thrust washers , 😁
So admire you knowledge and bravery to undertake this work, well done look forward to the fitting and running. 👍👍👍👍👍
Another great video. Brilliant. Keep them coming! If ever you land in the north of England and need something, let me know!!
Excellent. Very clear rebuild process, not that I will ever be rebuilding an R8 engine unfortunately. 👍
Master…..Class , Dean!
Masterclass!
For some wan like me who is totally a nitwit on engine it is still a very nice video to watch ! Now i understand a little more why engine can be very expensive because they are very time consuming ! And for also very complicated to (re)build. To see how precisely you are working and all off the patient you put in to this job, i can understand why you become a mechanic, because in the end this engine will run again !
Good choice to use the other crank Audi and Volkswagen uses color coded bearings and if that is not spot on in the sizing department you are going to sit with a oil pressure problem and you will run bearing and end up with a engine knock
i like the timelapses they are really in depth and interesting
Good work dude. Engine builds are good fun but so time consuming making sure you don’t make a silly mistake.
I had it with a Subaru rebuild where a tiny bit of swarf was stuck inside a head and that destroyed the heads cam seat and cam
Brilliant content👍. Really enjoyed the in depth content. You have the patience of a saint putting this engine together.
You are becoming a real expert on renovation of VW engines.
Top work Dean as always, I bet you were checking 3 times before moving onto the next part with an engine like that!
Hands down best car content on the tube well done pal cant wait for more
Good stuff mate, looking forward to the next video!
Great content Dean love this build
One man one engine.
That's some complex engine but with your attention to detail we know it will go back right. Great to see this work in detail - look forward to the next one.
amazing vid mate, your vids are second to none sir
Yas ! I've been waiting for this to start. Bravo 👏. Brave lad Dean.
This is very inspirational! I have to give this a go.
Great video thanks for being so thorough
This is epic
Loving this step-by-step engine build tutorial 👌
Brilliantl as always Dean. The way you explain everything is second to none. Really enjoying the build 👍🏻
Try to use some clean lint free rags mate, them dirty ones could have tiny stones from when they were dropped on the floor or else. Looking forward to the next part.
Thank you, we are closely supporting you, not an easy task but take care and don't go mad as this engine is a nasty piece of work....
Great work Dean - fantastic
Love your videos and you as a top engine technician
Yep, looking good Dean, just take your time and double check, really enjoying the close up content, top stuff, well done.
Nice one Dean, been looking forward to this for a while. Awesome video as ever with the detail and really look forward to seeing the next one!
Clear show of rebuild process well done.
Fantastic work Dean
Great content again Dean, thanks for the video. Hope the engine performs as good as it looks
Thanks Dean, love your videos, perhaps the best on RUclips.
Heck Dean. I bet your Lego skills as a kid were epic! Master engineer
This is a fantastic video. Absolutely fascinating. I can't wait to see this engine set up and working
Have been following the whole story and gotta say that i admire your`e work so keep it up and good work!
You should build an observation room so we can come and watch LIVE.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant Dean. Love the detail you are showing us 👍👍
Great job Dean & awe inspiring, I wouldn't know where to start with this.
Love your engine rebuild videos! Looking forward to part 2 :)
Hi Dean you have a lot of trust with the engineering work on crank be safe and check the oil clearance with a plastigage
Excellent content, I find it absolutely fascinating what goes into engine rebuilding. Looking forward to the next one
Love watching your videos you are so chilled and relaxed doing what others would lose there shit over
