Just like Namjoon said language has no barriers . If we are curious as to what they are saying we can easily look up the lyrics. So many people are drawn to them because they discuss topics that we can relate to in our daily life.

The reason they are so popular I believe (as a fan myself) is that besides the fact they are incredible performers it is because most of us can relate to their lyrics. They have translations everywhere (on the music videos too btw). It is important to know that BTS was originally a hip-hop group (you should check out songs like No More Dream, Cypher Pt 2, 3 and 4, Spine Breaker, Silver Spoon, Outro Her, Outro Tear, DDaeng) so in most of their songs they talk about real shit like dealing with money problems, mental health, struggling with loving yourself, losing friends, and they often criticize their society (Korea) which is extremely strict. It is very rare for a k-pop group to talk about such things as they are very controversial in Korea. When they debuted as a group in 2013 they were seen as problematic because of that so it was very hard for them to make their way through. The three rappers (RM, Suga, J-Hope) all come from the underground rap scene in Korea; they produce most of the bts songs themselves and they said they take their inspirations from Nas, Eminem, Kanye, Pharrell etc. (check out the song "Joke" by the rapper and leader RM, "Agust D" by Suga and "Airplane" by J-Hope, you'll see what I mean). But also, their personalities, the chemistry and strong bond between the members, their style, their humility and gratefulness etc are all of the many reasons we love them and want them to succeed.

In Asian countries, it’s believed to said that rabbits were seen active in the moon. It’s an old folk tale that’s pretty popular especially in Japan. They even have a holiday in September I believe on a full moon eating mochi dango* (a Japanese traditional snack.)

This song was meant to be a homage to their culture and embracing that they truly are Idols... (the term for popstar in Korea.) The dance where you see them epically jumping is a traditional dance. These fun facts enrich the body of work that is a BTS video (in my opinion.)

The fact they gained this much of audience is pure hard work and dedication towards their music. From no ones to this much fame you should or must react to bts from nobodies to legends then you’ll understand their position. Rabbit in the moon is reference from their previous video and is in Korean culture. Shark is reference to haters.

it might seem odd why Bts have such a huge reach but that’s mostly because it wasn’t until 2017 that Bts really blew up, they’ve been around since 2013 and their fanbase has been going unnoticed since then and has grown. They’ve always had a huge international following, even more than fans in their own country people knew them as more popular overseas. The fans have always been there so when Bts went through the bbmas last year everyone just got shocked at how they have all this support, it wasn’t an overnight thing. The fans have always been there, everyone else the media other celebrities are just shocked at the sheer number of people who love them bc to them bts came out of nowhere. From the start Bts have had creative freedom of their music so they’ve been able to talk about issues that relate to them, fans overseas had no trouble relating to them even though there was an obvious language barrier. There are many fans who work (for free) to translate bts content, their lyrics and etc to help non korean fans to understand and that’s generally how it’s been and will continue to be. We know there’s a barrier but music truly does transcend language

How BTS caught my attention, was how their lyrics transcend barriers. They help me through the toughest mental issues. Visuals are a bonus, but the fact that they sing about mental health & society for youth. BTS is an impact. They use their platform to bring awareness, as they are ambassadors for UNICEF. Yes, there are some female fans but you can see some male fans, who we love & appreciate as well.

The fact that you guys just call the video stupid without the reason behind why they made it like that is just dumb! The whole point of the video was to make the graphics look like that and colorful, no need to call it stupid. At least the lyrics are expressing the way the they feel as idols because the meaning behind the song is way different than anyone could imagine, especially since RM (leader) writes the songs and he adds emotion to it and is very sensitive when it comes to writing lyrics! I’m pretty sure most of us are ARMY and Ik for a fact that this video is not stupid because the lyrics have a meaning of them being idols, and rich

No matter how big, they remain humble and continue to pay respect and genuinely love their fans. Whether some of their music is for you or not, it's consistently high quality and they good people. Personally, I don't need deep meaning or even have to understand the lyrics to appreciate a song. The beat and vibe it puts out is enough for me.

bts captivate others through their talent. it’s not an everyday thing you see with western artists where they can rap, dance and sing. with bts and kpop as a whole, you get the whole package. as well, bts are such humble guys who are respectful and selfless. their personalities are amazing and help attract others. most importantly, their lyrics are what really brings us together. they talk about such deep topics that aren’t typically spoken about. many songs nowadays don’t have messages that are significant. bts discuss things that everyone can relate to. although they sing in korean, there are many translations found online. they’re helping break language barriers and allow others to become more open and appreciative of different cultures. i don’t think you need to understand an artist to fully enjoy their music, i think what matters most is how they are as human beings delivering their music to others.

They're loved worldwide because they've worked their butts off to get where they are now, usually practicing up to 16hrs a day, ive been a fan since their debut back in June 2013, I've seen them grow, after all their wins and upsets they're still the same boys and humble as ever, their music is awesome but their lyrics have meaning, they talk about worldwide issues, mental illness, depression which is why they partnered with UNICEF and their campaign is called love yourself. But most of all they love their fans, ARMY is usually the first word that comes out of their mouths when accepting an award. Plus they're cute and they're personalities are the purest and goofiest. lol I love the fact that y'all are fans of them. Keep grindin and you guys will reach your goals soon. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Hey, to answer your question... My main language is spanish and I used to listen a lot of music in english even dont knowing what the song it says. Back in that time (15ys ago) if I liked a song I went to internet to look for the lyrics and some of those lyrics that I didnt have translations I sat with a diccionary to look for the words one by one to understand what the artist were singing. Now I do the same with Korean. So the language is not a problem when you can access easily translations in just 5 minutes. The harder way, learn a new language lol Anyways.
Apart from the great music, BTS has really meaningful lyrics, great performances, and more. For sure they are handsome but is not what matters to ARMY. We love them for the great artist that they are and their lovely personalities. Guy, I won´t spend my money and my time in just a beauty face that for sure lol
Also if you ask me I prefer the live performances than the MVs.

Its not the music video, you look at behind the scenes, funny moments, or even Who is BTS, or from nobodies to legends you will understand why. They are genuinely loving and friendly with their fan base it stands out how they feel about them and how they feel about each other. We watch that and admire that in amongst everything going on in the world or with our families there can be so much sincereity wrapped up in one group. They are all multi talents, some can dance and rap, others sing dance and act, others sing, dance and athletic.

i think they manage to captivate even millions of fans that don't know what the eff they be saying because they write and produce all of this themselves. there aren't many artists that that's true for, even in the US people write to other people's beats or get given tracks written for/by other artists etc. etc. with BTS this is literally ALL THEM and i think that comes across in their performance. they never half ass this ish. they do promo stuff in korea where they're literally up all night and all day practicing and recording takes and just waiting the hell around and fans say they be near fainting in between takes but as soon as they're on that stage they're ON. i think that's possible for them because every little bit of what they're performing they've perfected themselves and they always want to do it justice. you can see that so clearly in HOW they put on a show and that's why it don't always matter if we know what they saying.
it's like when y'all say you don't understand the words but you KNOW they be snappin, or when ken "becomes one with the song" and feels like he knows what they saying when he doesn't.

Now imagine all that and then some. Because their albums have stories. They have created an alternate Bangtan (BTS) universe parallel with the albums they come out with. Their songs talk of their struggles of loving themselves, depression, people bringing them down, problems of youth. They're deep, that's Why, even if you don't understand what they're saying, you get them. You get their point. You then want to support them

The only other kpop group I liked was B.A.P (who were almost completely ruined by their own agency). Both groups were on a different level bc they are more themselves and less of a product.

Personally I got into them because of their sound and visuals. Then I began to look into their lyrics and the message they want to send. It varies depending on the person tho honestly.

The reason the graphics and edits suck is because they made it like that. It’s saying that they can make there videos however they want and show stereotypes that mvs don’t need to be aesthetic.

They do use allot of symbolism in their songs/MVs that everyone can relate too, they’re really down to earth group of guys.....hahaha some of the back up dancers couldn’t really keep up with BTS because they were dancing so fast, but not allot of people picked up on that!

I think you're missing the whole point in here... They're insanely popular because they are more than visuals and rhythm, their lyrics are incredibly poetic, you should look it up or turn on the cc, the sing about relevant, important issues.. Not at all like most popular artists nowadays. The thing is this song is about them setting themselves free from all of those stereotypes they've been typecast.... You should do a little bit more research, just an advice.

BTS may be extremely famous, talented, rich, may speak another language. But they appeal to ARMY because they connect with us. They are humble, they let themselves be vulnerable, they connect to fans on an emotional level. Their music captures something in us, fills a whole. ARMY isn’t just teen girls. Most of us are grown adults in our 30s, 40s and 50s. Both men and women of all orientations, religions and creeds. All over the world. They understand us and us them. They have a mission of self love and ending violence towards kids.

just a heads up for future reactions, you don't need to skip parts of the song. Big Hit Entertainment considers these reactions as a way of making BTS more popular, so they don't demonetize the video if you show the whole thing. :)

They are popular because they are genuine artist. They write, rap, sing and produce their own music. They share a lot of themselves with their fans (ARMY). It’s a fandom that is tight like family 😊. Thank you for giving them a listen and for being opened minded.

Back when they first started out under a small unknown record label company they didn’t have the budget so Everything in their MVs was REAL (NO CGI) just extreme editing up until this MV from seeing it when it came out I was speechless but at the same time observing they really experiment with allot of green screen and I was blown away!

honestly you cant really pin point just one thing or a few things about bts that hooks people in because literally everything hooks ppl in. their beautiful personalities, their love for each other, their passion, the visuals, the music obviously, how they love different cultures and all different ppl from other cultures, how woke they are when it comes to the deep meanings that they have in songs, I could go on and on

Also it isn’t just bts it’s KPOP as a whole, a lot of people who only became a fan within the last two years really like bts since they are breaking charts, but old school listeners love bts and all the older groups because they are the reason why groups like bts, exo, black pink, etc can even perform in America.

The reason why the have so many fans, both male and female is because their music resonates with the youth and today's problems around the world. They send messages and connect with their fans through the lyrics. You should start with their very first song and go from there. Not many artists today spend the time with their fans, or care enough to send messages through their music.
