I put together a little guide on the blog for resealing your bathtub, www.daintydressdiaries.com/2021/01/how-to-reseal-a-bathtub-or-shower-tray.html I hope you find it useful and you can bookmark it if you need it in the future :)
You have done a lovely job of fixing up your bathroom and I love the cupboard, shelves and baskets. Subway tiles suit the French Chic them and they would look beautiful in a soft pink colour.
I’ve painted tiles of my bathroom ten years ago. I used a base coat that had to cure for 8 weeks, then gave it two coats of an oil based high gloss paint. That’s what oil paint is for ;) They looked and felt like nice glossy tiles, and it is very durable. If you want it white, have them add a lot of titanium white. The white base oil paint will dry a light beige white without it. 🤗
@@DaintyDiaries in the US the shut off is located below the wash basin. Hopefully yours has this. We also have the main shut off for the whole house which should be in your basement if you have one. ruclips.net/video/PFPCV49e4LA/видео.html this is my favorite pro. Your bathroom looks great now. Now, completely off topic... I am loving your long dark hair. Not highlighting it or cutting it due to lockdown totally works for you. Your hair looks healthy and gorgeous. It really flatters the shape of your face and I've noticed in your last couple vlogs how pretty your makeup is. Have you changed lip or eye colors? Anyway, you're making lockdown look good. 🙂
Aw, you are so kind Annette, All I have been doing is tinting my grey roots every few weeks and trimming it myself. Make up is the same but I only wear makeup on days I am filming and the rest of the time I have been spending time doing good skincare, as a treat, :)
Can I just say it’s so nice to see someone else with a small bathroom. You can barely turn around in my two bathrooms and I have to be so creative. It looks very nice! You did a great job!
"I love going for a wee now" God you make me laugh ! And who on earth paints tiles brown anyway...and in a loo too ! No wonder you`re scarred for life ! XX
Just found you. So many DIYrs, but you are refreshing and so down to earth. I love your clear approach and practicality. I agree w you on painted tile. Besides the feeling, it’s also not fooling anyone. You may be a “purest”. I’ve changed taps, so I know you could too. Save the $$$ 💝
Catherine you are so real- only you would say " I love going for a wee now" when others would say " I love taking a shower"" or "using the bathroom now" You do make me chuckle. Hope your mam is feeling better as well.xx
It looks so lovely! I love the green colour on the cabinet, what a transformation! And thanks for the tip about cleaning the sealer thing on the glass - mine is so manky so I will definitely have to try this! ☺ X
I’ve just discovered your channel and without wishing to sound too old, I just wanted to say what an inspiration you are. I love that you’re tackling these jobs yourself and making them look easy enough to try, even for those of us who are a bit more *ahem* longer in the tooth! Thank you.
Oh beautiful, Catherine. Your bathroom looks like a spa now! I enjoyed that well-timed dodge of Pepsi as you were painting the cabinet. She was very almost going to look like a skunk with a stripe down her back! I held my breath there! 😂
"The pub...with the brown painted tile" I am itching just thinking about it! Love the updates! the cabinets turned out beautiful too! thanks girl and be SAFE...I hope you can go to clean pubs with no painted tiles VERY SOON! :D
I look forward to your videos, you have the sweetest voice, and I LOVE your house. It looks so cozy and loved. Your projects are just amazing and very detailed about what to do and not do. I think I could be tackling some of my own projects and stop waiting on my son to do them. Thanks for the tip on the paint in the bathroom!!
Wow, I remember when you did your bathroom caulking etc... can't get over that's already 3 yrs ago. Incredible. Oil surfacing in the paint, ugh... I'm sure it bothered you everytime you went in there once it made it's appearance. Now, your effort in the retackling look so awesome. Adding the color on the stand up cabinet is so lovely. I agree being locked in has caused a relook at our living spaces. Also not going out and people not coming in mostly, seeing dust etc less observant or just ignoring😄... think I've done that... going out certainly gives a fresh perspective when coming back in... as well contributing to rearranging and decluttering. Like you said in spring and summer months we're cleaning more because of light, longer days but also we tend to enjoy windows and doors open. Freshness but blows in dust too. Getting long worded on you, love what you did, so lovely, always inspiring. Hope your mom's doing well💝 Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend, sincerely appreciate your uploads~♡~ Peace, joy and love to you and yours, keep well~♡~

I love your videos, I could spend all day just watching them, but then my house would never get cleaned.haha You have inspired me to tackle my bathroom tomorrow. Thank you Catherine, you are truly an amazing your lady. hugs
Excellent job Catherine!! OMG you made me laugh out loud when you were talking about the Pub with the painted tiles, oh and the look on your face, so funny. I think a bathtub is great, especially for resale (if you have to sell, where do people bathe the Children?). Enjoy your "Wees"!! Best wishes.
Great job Catherine! Strange isn't it how little changes can make a big difference. Now the cupboard has been painted it adds some warmth to the room. So glad you're back and taking things a little easier on yourself with your social media stuff etc. Pleased your mum is also on the mend and your Instagram updates on the spud re incarnations make me chuckle! Take care of yourself as well as mum please. Much love, Soph.xxx
Fabulous video Catherine. Bathroom looks absolutely stunning! Well done! I've a unit similar only with baskets in it and it's looking a little grubby. So guess what? I'm going to paint it! Xx🥰
You’ve inspired me! I’ve needed to paint our bathroom door for so long. We renovated our house a few years ago, did the work ourselves and now I have like DIY fatigue! I look at the cracked paint and just think omg I can’t do it so much work. I can! 🤍
Love how it became, clean and still a lot of cozy baskets. You're such an allround lady. I need to feel things too, goosebumps if things feel rough and strange. Those plastic seventies table cloth with a rough made surface was enough to keep my plate on my lap. So ikkie to touch.
The bathroom looks lovely. Would you ever do a video on your casual style? You always look so put together, in tea dresses or just working around the house. I can't hardly put something together to wear
I absolutely agree with you - I don't like painted tiles. For me, tiles create an intrresting effect in a bathroom when the light reflects off them and make it seem less functional and more restful. Also, it seems more spacious. Love the colour of the cabinet.
The bathroom looks lovely and fresh - you must be very pleased with your efforts, Catherine! I really like the shade of green on the cabinet. I always find the smaller the room, the more hassle and time it takes to decorate, especially when the dogs want to follow me everywhere, getting covered in paint! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
Just what i really needed..a new video. Thanks fot being honest about having a messy bathroom! Mine is clean..but due to this video, i wanna clean again.
LOVE!! I think you did a beautiful refresh, love all the new decor your chose. Baskets add so much texture as well as perfect storage. HUGS to Blondie and Pepsi they are so sweet. Take care and be safe❤
It looks good! I totally agree with you on oil based paint. That is smelly, doesn't last near as long and clean up with chemicals is not good. I'm getting ready to do around my tub where it meets the floor. This was a good video for me as this will be my 3rd time chalking and the 1st didn't go well, lol. And you are so right about being home too much and overlooking things. I'm retired and home most of the time. I get out of town once a month to go see my mom and I always notice things that need to be done when I get home. You've done a wonderful job with your house!
When I renovated my bathroom twenty years ago, I opted for shiny white tiles plus a black and white border on the walls and grey tiles on the floor. Some friends diagnosed me with a lack of inspiration for that. But I still like the look. I've changed decor several times which was easy with the neutral tiles. I'm not so much into neutral colours for the other rooms but I think redoing a bathroom is way harder and more expensive than revamping other rooms. So don't let yourself be talked into painting your tiles or getting new ones etc. You can paint your furniture, change towels or artwork and you'll be fine. Your "new" bathroom looks great btw.
You are so enjoyable to watch and listen to! Love your real life stories and your accent! I agree painted tile (yuck) only a LAST resort! The painted cabinet made all the white pop in a good way. Have you considered wallpapering your bath? It could be adorable!

That looks very nice and fresh and bright you did a fantastic job with that tub grouting. I like the baskets you used and the color you painted the little cabinet very well done Catherine
Wow, that is a big job taking off all that sealant! Well done. The bath looks so fresh and clean. It's amazing how these things affect our mind and mood. I hope all this hard work brings you joy and peace. 💕. Oh my goodness, that pub story, I got shivers too, lol.

The shot of Blondie and Pepsi sitting atop your kitchen table supervising (or more like half asleep there Miss Pepsi !) while you work your butt off was priceless ! Cats sure know how to make themselves comfortable don't they 😆 You are so clever - I'd never attempt replacing the silicon beading around a bath. I'm always in awe of all the great things you can do. So true what you say about the best pints in shabby 'ol pubs! Miss ing the Guinness too! The bathroom looks fantastic and you have inspired me to get on and do my mouldy batroom. Thanks and take care👍😊
So funny that your toliet paper is white. Seems like every time I have visited the UK or Ireland, there was "pink" toliet tissue" in the bathroom. Here you are the Princess of pink and your TP is white. Made me smile. Thanks for sharing your videos with us! Hope all is well there!
Once we’ve had our new bathroom window put in ( old one lets in cold air); we can get on with modernising our bathroom. It needs gutting out completely. It’s gonna look lovely when that happens. Using same guys who did a fabulous job on our garden. We know them well as they were working in our home in aug/sept are kind of in our bubble rather than use someone new. Can not wait to get it done. Then we can get on with new kitchen and decorating rest of the house. It’s a big project but hasn’t been touched in 30 odd years and belonged to my hubby’s parents. So decor is very outdated. Thank you for explanation of yellowing paint. Our separate lavatory door is turning yellow and now I know why and how to rectify it. Thank you Catherine. The lavatory is only room ( apart from garden) that has been decorated lol 😂 xx
@@DaintyDiaries yes I can’t wait for it all to be done though I’m undecided on how to do my Jane Austen style guest bedroom. I want it to be romantic and have a gallery wall for my Jane Austen cross stitches etc up on the wall. But I’m at a loss with colours etc. I’m going neutral in our bedroom as I have a thing for bedding and have too much. But I can’t wait for it all to get done especially in the end when we get the front sorted out with new driveway and tidied up hate living in a mess at the moment but will be fine. Hopefully will get moving again in February x
Had a heated towel rail in recently only 300€ best thing ever stops the mould because the towels are dry!! In my old house I kept damp towels in the hot press to prevent mould in the bathroom it works!!
Love your bathroom Catherine. We are in the process in our new house of doing up the bathrooms. I got fab taps with a lovely ceramic floral base on Amazon and I think they were only about £20. Hubby installed them for me and it was so worth it as the ones that came with the house were so bad a peeling and flaking. We replaced the bath taps for main bathroom with a telephone tap and we replace both sink taps in upstairs and downstairs loo and replaced the kitchen sink taps all from Amazon and we're a great price . Also you should look into getting the shower panels for around your shower instead of tiles. I had some in our old home and it was like Italian stone look and was fab as no dirty grouting again around tiles. It was a wee bit expensive but still cheaper than tiles. It was only like a plastic material but looked very elegant and so easy to clean no scrubbing. You did a great job in your bathroom its lovely health to enjoy xx❤️🛀

So true what you say about the best pints in shabby 'ol pubs! Miss ing the Guinness too! The bathroom looks fantastic and you have inspired me to get on and do my mouldy batroom. Thanks and take care👍😊
Thanks so much Lesley!!
So funny that your toliet paper is white. Seems like every time I have visited the UK or Ireland, there was "pink" toliet tissue" in the bathroom. Here you are the Princess of pink and your TP is white. Made me smile. Thanks for sharing your videos with us! Hope all is well there!
Pink toilet roll reminds me of my grannies, she used to have pink and yellow xx
Looks so fresh and lovely. 🥰 xx
Thank you Sophie! 🤗 x
your entire house is beautiful and your bathroom looks so nice and fresh.
You are so kind Marcella, I really appreciate that x
Wish i could get my house to look that good. Amazing amazing job.
Your welcome. 😁
I really love all your Dyi ideas! One more thing, your house is very very cozy.
Aw it’s going to to be so pretty when done, that is amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
Bathroom looks great
I found you when you redid this bathroom a few years ago and have been hooked since!!! Love from NW Ohio!!
Aw, thank you Mollie! x
Catherine you are such an inspiration, beautiful makeover xx
Thank you so much Geraldine, you are so kind x
Had a heated towel rail in recently only 300€ best thing ever stops the mould because the towels are dry!! In my old house I kept damp towels in the hot press to prevent mould in the bathroom it works!!
You did a wonderful job making your bathroom clean & lovely looking!
I can binge watch this channel! You are adorable and so is you home! 🥰

I love the bathroom makeover Catherine! You’ve inspired me to “Shabby Chic-ify” my reorganized craft/sewing room! It’s my own girly room and you’ve given me so many great ideas! I love your channel and everything you do! You are the most adorable you-tuber! Thanks for showing us that girls can do it all!
Yay, I am so happy you got some ideas and inspiration for your own space, enjoy your girl cave x
