I was a junior in high school in 1978 when I was able to by a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland, Ram Air Shaker hood with a C6 transmission. Man was that thing fast. I loved it!....That’s the closest I’ll EVER get to owning anything as beautiful and as rare as this Boss 9. I am so jealous it hurts!
That car has so much history, It's a shame that it wasn't restored to as raced, 1970 specifications. Another war horse lost to the big money of car collectors.
Well, you can go build a boss 9 stang and race one all you want using a run of the mill stang and a newer and much improved engine that would smoke a '70 era build so there's just no point in that. Not when it's such a high end car collector piece that belongs well cared for, for generations to come.
A few questions and comments... If the car was bucked as a 428CJ Mach 1, how can the B9 be a numbers-match? Was the KK number included on the engine block VIN stamp? The photos show the car in it's 1970 livery, replete with dual headlights, sans 1969 rear side scoops. The rear sway bar... I presume he meant it was a first for the Mustang. Several GM A-body cars used the under-axle bar since 1964. The hood... what was the difference from a stock hood? I presume it was the under-bracing to allow the air cleaner to hood meet-up. The outer skin would be the same as any Mustang, no? The added scoop is the obvious add-on difference, of course.
Interesting video and story, thank you! Amazing car for sure... the '69 Mustang Sports Roof looks menacing in black. Just an observation from the peasants... big $$$ and expertise can make almost anything happen. A couple of decades ago, it would not have been financially or otherwise practical to do this exercise. Most likely the "parts car" was surgically disassembled, and will be "restored" again with OEM parts and the passage of time. We speculate it's identity may remain a secret, as this part of it's history would not help it's provenance when it returns to the big $$ auction.
I just came here to comment on the Bugatti vs demon video cause ya'll turned off the comment section there cause it's a waste of time, Bugatti on street mode? Demon not broken in? So much wasted potential smh
Ford intentionally under carbureted and under cam spect these vehicles. All it took was a carb Cam and header Swap and these things were absolute Terrors and Monsters.
I spoke with Bob Perkins at that car show. He is an absolute guru on Ford Mustang information.

Bob Perkins is a National Treasure
He's the Guru. An absolute aficionado.
What a monster engine. How they shoved it into that engine bay is a engineering accomplishment
By far the best video I’ve ever seen !!
Very fine car.

Love these cars, so cool. Not sure I 100% agree with killing another Boss and using it as a parts car so that this one could live again.
00:27 That's Ford & Mercury Total Performance. Show some respect for the deceased.
Amazing to see the 1st!!
i daily drive my 67 galaxie, 390 fastback landau top. i always pretend its a high performance land yacht lol
It would be so cool if you could cover one of Ohio George Montgomery's incredible Gasser Mustangs.

As badass as all the old iconic muscle cars are, the only thing I don't care for is how busy and cluttered the engine bays are.
He's a great Ford guy but give me any Boss and i'll drive the brakes off of it #1 - 859
Old's used a rear sway bar before this. Lies

The boss 429 was a piece of crap.
I hope this is a joke lol
