Really insightful. I was thinking of doing one virtual experience course from Forage and came across your video while looking for YT reviews. Appreciate your inputs. Cheers!
I have completed a virtual program already and it i liked it . The work is challenging and really makes you appreciate skills gaps. I have patched these gaps by taking free courses from the top universities and companies.
If I were to do one of these, could I put them in the projects section of my resume? Or would I have to make a new section specifically for certifications and put Forage in there?
either will do aslong as you dont list it under work experience. Projects works better as it reflects tasks you were also able complete in an orderly manner
thanks for this amazing and informative video! I wanted to ask abt internship themselves. As i understood, I can finish it whenever I want? So there is no certain deadline for it? Also, if i am not sure abt submitting my assignment and let’s say it’s wrong, will it affect to my certificate?
Thank you for your kind words! To answer your questions: - There are no deadlines, so you can finish whenever you want. - Your submissions are not checked for correctness, only completion. This means anyone can submit a blank file and still get the same certificate as someone who spend 100 hours on the assignment.
No it will not effects your certificate, further there is no assessment of task and projects rather you will be provided a model answer after submitting the task and you can submit as a practice.
@@rankintran Companies on Forge aren't getting a blank file submitted ? I'm thinking about JPM job interview, they see your certificate and go to check out your answers..only to find out blank pages lol. Is it possible ?
Do companies see your answers or how long you spend on a course? So like if I took a JP Morgan course, would JP Morgan see this info? What's to stop someone from just putting blank files/answers?
It seems companies will not see that information without your permission. There's really nothing stopping someone from putting blank files/answers, but it would not be beneficial anyway. In multiple choice questions, you have an infinite amount of attempts to get a question correct. The system is more focused on helping you LEARN rather than helping you get a job. Here is some of what Forage's Data Collection Statement says: "Firms may use your data to reach out to you with job opportunities or to invite you to networking events or other opportunities that you are eligible to participate in." "Sharing the work that you complete in a course will not affect your chances of landing a job with the firm and will not make you any worse off if you apply for a job with the firm. Sharing your work gives you an opportunity to show off your proactivity to recruiters! If you do opt to share your details with a firm, you can opt out at any time using the toggle at the top of the page. You can also remove your details from the platform by deleting your profile." "When you opt in to sharing your data with a firm, this includes the following (where you have provided that information to Forage: Your name Your email address Your university Details of your studies (e.g. degree type, focus area, start and end dates) Your gender Your racial / ethnic background Your job preferences (including where you would prefer to ork) Any work samples that you submit through the pogram."
Where can I mention the virtual internship in my CV/ Resume? We can mention it under certification, internship/experience or extra curricular activities in CV?
It depends on the context of other things you put on your resume. You can put this under an "Experience" section and describe the tasks you completed, or you can put a short title under a certification section if you already have a lot of experiences to list on your CV/Resume. If you want to reference my resume format, I opted to use a "Projects" section so the Forage experience could be included with examples of my school/personal projects. Hope this helps!
Either way works. If you do decide to include Forage on your resume, I'd recommend you put it in the Experience section since it lets you use the names of big companies and you can add bullets to explain what you've done or learned. In my opinion, Education implies a more academic source of learning (college course, online course, etc). If you don't want Forage items to take up too much room on your resume, you can simply list the relevant certificates you've earned in the Education section. If you'd like to reference my resume, I created a Projects section and added Forage items there with the additional label of a Project Certificate for each item and used bullet points to explain what I did for each project. Ultimately, it's up to your judgment on how you want to portray yourself to potential employers and interviewers.
In terms of skill-building, it did help me learn about presenting my ideas for problem solving. The creative brief gives people a detailed outline of how you want to reach goals and what's required. If you mean to ask about careers, I don't think it has really helped much. Employers haven't specifically asked me about it. What's more important is how you talk about your skills and how you could apply it to the job. You could mention what you learned from the lululemon course and how you applied it elsewhere.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say you need an internship certificate for your college? Do you need to submit a resume to apply for your college? In any case, I would personally avoid using the word "internship" to describe Forage certificates.
Hi! I can't speak to how much recruiters value the digital certificate, but I highly recommend you try out Forage's offerings! It doesn't take a lot of time to complete (usually less than an hour or two) and it provides you with an opportunity to get experience doing certain key tasks of the job you want. The best part of Forage is being able to experience actually doing a task for a company's project without any unnecessary hurdles to jump through. The key is to think of how you can incoporate these tasks into your own work and think about how you will communicate your knowledge of your experience with the work. I find it's better to consider Forage as a self-study tool, rather than a job recruitment asset. I hope this helps. Reach out if you have any more questions I can answer for you.
Not sure. If that's your local area, you may have a better idea than I would from my Internet research. I suggest you ask people around you and search on the internet. Good luck!
Thanks, I'm looking forward to do the finance programs, as I am an undergraduate in accountancy and finance second year. But I don't have any experience
You are doing great job ✨ I want to register myself as an Amazon business consultant. Which category and company is best for it. Can you please guide me. I will be really grateful to you.
There are Consulting specific programs that you may find beneficial like the SAP Technical Consulting. I haven't personally completed it but it looks like may align with your interests. Good luck!
Thank you for watching! - To answer your question, I did not work with others. The virtual internship mostly consisted of pre-recorded videos and text descriptions.
When companies come for summer internships in college for that we need to get our resume prepared. Can I use these certificates for my CV/ resume building?
Sure, there's nothing stopping you from doing so. Just be mindful of how you want to explain your experiences, and how your experience validates your qualifications for the role you're applying for.
If you really want to gain experience by the virtual job 'simulations', then yes, Forage is helpful. But, if you thinking these internship would add value to your resume/CV, then you are wrong. (Unless the recruiter is a fool)
I see where you're coming from, but for someone who is completely new to an industry and wants to gain personal experience for a job - I think it's very helpful. My point is that Forage can be a significantly valuable tool for independent exploration and learning what kinds of tasks you would be doing in a job and if you simply like doing them. From then on, you can build the depth of your knowledge by thinking about **how you will communicate what you learned from Forage** rather than simply stating that you got a certificate from them. Thank you for adding your perspective on the matter!
