Reload is most often seen as his best work.
I would also give Marcielago & Behold A Dark Horse a try.
As for my favourite Marci verse it's probably from Pray for Paris - $500 Ounces:
"Uh, ain't no Ls on my jacket

It’s definitely worth revisiting all his work from Pete Rock’s Petestrumentals, The UN and all the solo work that followed.
As far as the laidback vocal styling, it wasn’t always like that. He once explained the change inspired from Biggie’s growth from Ready to Die and Life After Death. If you listen to how hype Big was on “Gimme The Loot” and how his confidence grew for his sophomore LP, Big was way more chill.
I’ve seen plenty complain about his choice of this, but that’s their loss. If you ever get the privilege of seeing him live, his older “hype” style comes out even on newer songs.

I love the Goblin comparison lol funny thing is I sampled a Goblin song from a Horror flick like 6 years ago and added a Roc Marci acapella over which was perfect match. It's that 80s dark guitar sound

AVAA What you don’t know about crimeapple** he’s a Colombian American rapper who’s insanely good and consistent. I’ve been hoping you’d catch wind of him, he sometimes raps entirely in Spanish and sometimes weaves in and out of English and Spanish. You should definitely check him out. Flee lord is dope too, he also just dropped a great album you should listen to.

Arcane is the best way to describe it. He has a way of saying some things that sound like something else and can be heard differently by each listener. Forces a rewind. He said one line in a fashion that had me thinking he said: "Can't be airing out family laundry that's incarnate." When really he said: "You can't be airing out family laundry, that shit corny."
