Whenever I heard LGR or Pushinguproses talk about how much they liked Chicago I didn't understand, I thought it was just another city sprawl, but you've done a good job of showing what makes Chicago a special and unique place
Thanks for another amazing video of your photography and chill exploration of Chicago. It was great meeting you again at VCFMW and showing you some weird cameras!
I’m a huge LGR fan, every Friday I watch it as a source of “zen” in an otherwise chaotic week. That being said, I have NEVER rewatched a video on youtube as much as I have rewatched your series on Chicago. The way you’ve captured the “feel” of a city such as this is truly special. I just wanted to say thank you. Great job! Talent runs in the family. I know your bro is skipping the next VCF for understandable reasons…but I’m mostly bummed we won’t be getting another excellent Chicago Vlog from you…First blood part 4?! Anyway, please revisit this in 2025! Thanks for your work, Luke! It’s appreciated to say the least!
Love both yours and LGRs video! Thank you for filming the event so we can all get a taste. It looks very fun! I recently attended a similar kind of event in Norway, just a tad smaller venue and less people, haha :D Still fun though!
I've lived and worked around Chicago my entire life, and it's refreshing to see the city through someone else's eyes. Glad you made it to Central Camera and Giordano's. That high ISO film scares me :-) I don't think I could make that work.
This the first time I've caught your channel. Great stuff. Can't get over how much you and your brother have almost the exact same mannerisms and cadence in your vocal tones. It's almost like you're twins to an extent.
I love how your storytelling. I got to know this channel through your brother clint, you two have a kind of thing to it that just pulls me in. And especially your channel took me back just a few years ago, when I was still shooting film and developed mostly Tri-X myself. I should go back to it, all the photos from that time had a life to it, I barely get out of digital. PS: If you like to get some amazing color, but limited dynamic range: try Fuji Velvia (the original or Velvia 50). Velvia 100 gets close but is not as easy to scan.
Love seeing your videos - editing and music choices had me actively bobbing my head. I love how this captures the whole trip, and I’m only halfway through
@@lukeisafinename I most certainly did! Chicago always looks amazing but your shots in particular were just fab And now I need to find a way to get some giordano’s…
@@lukeisafinename True. I don't go into the city often but the times I have it's a great photo outing. You've might have seen more of Chicago in two trips than I have and I'm a 2 hour drive away from it, lol. A few future options for you could be Navy Pier and the Adler Planetarium (nice photo view of Chicago from there). If you like green space there's the Japanese Garden of the Phoenix and the big Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL so that would probably have to be a day trip in itself (north of Chicago).
Huzzah! Malört! Its bitter taste is savored by two-fisted drinkers. I am glad you gents had a wonderful experience. Keep sharing that experience, in what ever format you choose.
Really great video loved seeing what you guys did while in town. Was interesting to see. You guys definitely stopped at some good spots with portillo's and the arcade 😋👊🏽
Great shots! I've been meaning to grab some of that high iso Delta and Tmax to try it and your pics remind me why. Also looking forward to some medium format flavored vids from you in the future!
I had one of those Fuji Finepix 3D cameras for a bit. The color balance between each lens, at least on mine, was oddly never same and I ended up selling it. The concept is great, but I like the results from my Nishika and Nimslo cameras much better... plus you get the 4 frames to play around with.
I'm a recent subscriber from LGR's channel, and I can see you both have a similar sense of humour. I'm now sitting down with a cup of tea (yes I know it's a British stereotype) to enjoy the video.
Thanks for your video, the camera shop was interesting, question what is it that causes some kind of stutter/jitter on the video pan shot, @ 13:33 there's about?
Great video luke I was wondering when you were putting your side of the video up . Been mostly trying to recently find lot of new old stock film recently or similar 🤔 . been trying to do more black and white particularly the castles here . I've been putting my retro tech in the pictures not great when things are heavy has you and Clint will know lol 😅
that Anakin clip briefly made me think i somehow accidentally put a grainydays video on, haha The Pentax 645 is an interesting choice! what made you decide to go for that as a first medium format camera vs the 67, Mamiya 645, etc?
Haha, that's high praise - Jason's videos are some of my favorites in the RUclipsr/film photographer space. Why the Pentax 645? Mostly cost, to be honest. The 67 is more expensive in general, plus you get fewer shots per roll compared to a 645. I've had great experiences with Pentax cameras in the past as well, so I guess brand familiarity/loyalty played a part!
Clint is older I remember him saying it several times. Just watch the LGR backlog you will find out. But yeah they really look twins.. lol They even have very similar mannerism.. lol
it's wild how I've been in chicago so long but never been to AIC also that everyone I ask has no idea what AIC even stands for lol should finally be getting the opportunity next week actually and I'm excited
If you're thinking about developing your own stuff, it sounds like you'll want to have as much control over the process as you can. For that, any camera that gives you control over aperture, shutter speed, and ISO will do. If you need a camera, I recommend just about any fully functioning SLR camera under $50 USD. For developing, there are loads of great walk-throughs on RUclips - Matt Day's stuff in particular was super helpful when I was learning, but there really are a lot of informative channels out there. The Art of Photography (also a RUclips channel) has a few blog posts detailing his process, and between those and Matt Day's videos I was pretty much able to piece everything together. You basically just need a developing tank (I recommend Paterson tanks, but any dedicated dev tank will do), a changing bag, the chemicals, a source of water, and a space to work in - I develop in my kitchen and hang my film to dry in the bathroom.
Dude.
Yeah dude 👍
Dude
You two truly look alike!
Greetings Been subbed to luke since he started to make more vids some years back I enjoy his vintage camera content .

Clint spinning in that arcade thing like a hamster in a ball is too funny.
Thanks for another amazing video of your photography and chill exploration of Chicago.

Absolutely. Same time next year?
I found you through LGR and didnt even think of you being brothers and seeing how similar you two are is messing with me

Thank you Luke , Liked and Shared , your living the Dream Man :) QC
What an awesome place and some fantastic photos. Sounds like you would've needed another vacation to get over this one!

I think Malort really leans into the Latin prefix of mal-, meaning bad, ill, wrong, or abnormal.
It's an experience though!
I like that you use B/W photography. I like colour, but I love b/w. It gives such a glow. Maybe is why I love b/w noir.

I love your vlogs, Luke! You and Freddy rock! :)

Hope you enjoyed Chicago. This city has been very good to me and I'm happy to see the beautiful city I live in as an event for folks.
I like the idea of paying a flat rate for a arcade. Play as much as you want. Gives you a chance to play game you may have not played otherwise
I think it's a very good idea, there were games there I've never seen before, If I went in you wouldn't see me for a week 😄
Nice architecture.
BRUH at 6:40 that's a terminal from SDF! That likely means smj (Stephen Jones) was there with it! Lucky!

Any suggestions on a cheap and easy way of getting into film and developing
