All depends. I have to consult with a tax attorney and determine what structure will serve me. I most likely will go with a hold co in a tax shelter country, pay my living expenses through that entity, and pay me and my way a basic wage for leisure spend. If that doesn't work to my favor then I may just have to float

From my understanding you can’t be a W2 employee and do the nomad visa to enter Spain. So wouldn’t the job have to be wiling to make you a 1099 independent contractor as well? In order to keep your job.

Yes, DNV in Spain is only for self-employed or independent contractors, U.S. Social Security Admistration is not providing any Certificate of Coverage for Social Security for Spains DNV! That means you will be a resident and pay the regular resident taxes, and it's progressive. The more you make, the higher the taxes. Nobody w DNV has been approved for the Beckham Law / 24% unless your company is registered or has a branch in Spain and pays directly into the Spanish Social Security Admistration! Do NOT believe immigration lawyers and seek tax information or accountants pertaining to self-employed or contract work individuals with DNV. Don't get scammed, and keep in mind when you enter Spain, the tax year and understand your worldwide income as it will get included in that tax year in Spain upon living for more than 183 days in the country. Oh, U.S. visa is only good for 90 days. Keep that in mind when needing to travel in and out. It's not as easy as they say on RUclips, its about views and subscribers to their channel for pennies 😅

You are right, remote work is not for evryone bc some ppl are more productive at home, forget about having lunch and suffer neck pain from moving with laptop from home office to sofa lol. I had to learn to have 5 min breaks at my balcony and cooking the night before to have a lunch ready (the anxiety of being seen to deliver purely bc of ppl who takes HO on Fridays to extend their weekend, is a real thing). Still I love that I dont commute and I get out so much more and explore place to change the scenery of four walls. I cannot work in the office and deal with the politics ever again. Easy for us Europeans.

The only plus I find lately is the healthcare and no gun violence, other than that it's incredibly stressful because making money ain't easy here and unless you live in the south, rent is more than monthly wages for an average single person. Foreigners and locals alike feel this pain. Sure, you can have your cheap beer or tinto to take your mind off it, which is part of the culture that foreigners tend to glamorize. You can't even easily start a business here or sell things on the side legally without being autónomo. The upward mobility of the US looks enticing right now, I'm not a fan of the culture necessarily but it depends which state you live in.

Honestly, it's not Spain as a whole. It's certain towns and cities, Madrid is an example of a major city with a lower tax bracket but a high everyday expenses. Nomad Digital Visa applicants, as self-employed or contractors, do not mean you will be automatically approved for the Beckham Law or the 24% tax bracket! It's NOT always true; immigration lawyers do NOT give you tax advice, and you will need to inform the consequences of how you apply for the DNV. Please make sure to fully understand before you sign any immigration lawyers' contract on tax implications prior to making the full payment! Ethics are NOT the same with professionals in other countries like the U.S.
