@FRSHGOST I wish autocorrect wasn't ever invented. It is now the go-to excuse when people misspell something, rather than just saying "my bad". Autocorrect doesn't autocorrect words to misspelled words; just the wrong words. If the word is misspelled it's user error (either a lack of knowledge or a typo).
From a Black Templar fan over here, that’s a great battle force and lovely painted, my man. And that Chaplain is definitely one of the best kitbashes I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot. Keep purging for the Emperaaahh 👍🏻
I mean at the same time the old colour scheme got retconned in the current 40k into the fallen and for the absolute og dark angels colour scheme theres the consecrators that still have the red line on their helmets
Absolutely, the Black Templars do have a striking aesthetic! Their black armor, adorned with white and gold details, really stands out on the battlefield and conveys their relentless zeal and commitment to the Emperor.
I paint Fallen Dark Angels, so I know this feeling well. I like the combination of black, white, and red so much, I need to restrain myself from using that scheme on all my armies.

The "emotional damage" bit hit home.... I do custom figures and my wife does not care really...but one day she was looking at a display shelf and pointed to one figure and said "Oh I like that one." It was the one on the shelf that I didn't do myself.
Eric I can only go by what the video show. So with saying that, I think your painting of your chaplain was just as good as the one you bought. I know that I am missing fine details that are lost on camera, but what I see is amazing. Your eye and knowledge of colors and sharing that with everyone helps even a new painter. If I was a player, it would be a honor to field a army painted by you. Great work all around.
That sounds like an exciting project! The Black Templars are such a fun chapter to build and paint, especially with their unique aesthetic and rich lore. Their knightly theme allows for a lot of creativity in kitbashing and customizing your models. The Sword Brethren, in particular, offer a lot of options for weaponry and personalization, making them a great choice for showcasing your painting skills. Plus, their background as elite veterans adds a nice narrative layer to your army. What units are you most excited to work on, or do you have any specific themes in mind for your army?
@@rexrules8895 Google the Knights Hospitaller colour scheme and the Maltese Cross. I think you’ll find Malta is no where near the Baltics lmao. This combination of one of my favourite content creators with Army Painter paints is fantastic. I only recently started the transition from Citadel paints to Army Painter, so seeing what their colours/technicals actually look like on models is soooooo useful! Great video and brilliant models, cheers!
Hey, did you see a new Heroes of Might and Magic 3 board game just came out? It comes with all the creature miniatures from the game - and you have to paint them yourself just like with Warhammer!
Your original video on the templars is what finally made me want to collect them and I'm even sticking to just warm colors to stay true to the old style.
Absolutely love Templars. My OC Chapter Donut Steel was a count-as Templars and I adored the upgrade kit they release for that brief window back in the mid-2000s.
Black Templars and Dark Angels are my favorite chapters purely based on aesthetic. Robes with the power armor just look so cool. Love the Angels more typically but Templars have a MUCH better color scheme.
I have 3 favorite space marine chapters 1. Black Templars, 2. Raven Guard, 3. Crimson fists and right behind that would be my 4th favorite the Iron Hands but we don’t need to talk about that for now
@Eric’s Hobby Workshop The Maltese Cross in the black templars heraldry, is not the Teutonic order’s cross. Rather, it’s the cross of the Knights Hospitaller as their patroness is Our Lady of Philermos, at the Fileremos Monastery in Rhodes, since the cross is associated with her, as it appears in her Icon.
When painting black vehicles I use one of two methods, depending on what effect I'm after. The first is I drybrush the entire model with a dark grey lLike Adeptus Battlegrey) over a black undercoat before doing directional edge highlighting with a mid-tone grey (like Codex Grey) The second is doing straight directional edge highlighting directly over a black undercoat. Definitely a little more time-consuming, but it works for me. (Especially since I don't have an airbrush.)
I always liked the Dark Angels and they are my favourite space marine chapter due to their knightly aesthethics. But it is always fun to see the painted knightly space marines no matter what chapter
The helsreach fan movie and audiobook were my intro into 40K! 2500 pts of Templars later and still going strong! (As well as 3k points of necrons… don’t purge me I just love ‘em)
The problem I have with Black Templars is that I also like Salamanders and combining the two into a Salamander successor chapter just looks like Black Templars with Salamander icons. I think the main thing I like about the Templars is the red and yellow weapons with flames that goes with the black and white. It looks good to my eyes. The same coloured weapons with Salamander green just makes them come off as too festive. Salamanders, Blood Angels and Black Templars are my three favourite looks of Space Marines.
a little comment on the black colour in Chanel and other fashion brand, it's due to WW1 aftermatch, where so many people were mourning their deads, during the conflict and the "spanish" flew brought by US expedition corps that almost everyone was wearing black, and Channel was tiered of that so she decided to make it fashionable (at least the legend say so) Black is also the colour of austerity (still related to space crusader monks). There is books talking about how we perciev colour and they often are inherited or influenced by issues to get those colours in ancient time, like yellow and green being colours that were turning , but ofc today with modern technologie and society evolution most have evolved.
heck yeah, man.. I just started my own Black Templars. Orks, Guard...kind of flirted with the idea of Blood Angels...now I've finally found the Space Marine chapter that speaks to me.
You summed up why I love the Templars really well, they just fit what a Space Marine is supposed to be so well. So much so in fact it's weird they aren't a first founding chapter.
