About Westlife:
Formed in Sligo, Ireland in 1998, Westlife followed in the tradition of European boy bands like Take That and Boyzone. The group performed ballads and club-worthy pop songs for a devoted European audience, becoming one of the continent's most successful bands in the process. Although they never managed to find American success, Westlife released six platinum-selling records in the U.K. and eventually sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, a feat that helped them eclipse the popularity of pop titans like Boyzone, whose lead singer had managed the band during its infancy.
Vocalists Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily first performed together in another pop group, IOYOU, and experienced their first brush with success when Simon Cowell considered signing them to BMG. The group's other singers didn't make the cut, however, and a new round of auditions was launched to find more capable members. Nicky Byrne and Bryan McFadden were eventually added, the group was signed, and Westlife began prepping its debut album with the help of Louis Walsh, Boyzone's manager, and Boyzone member Ronan Keating. Their debut single, "Flying Without Wings," entered the U.K. charts at number one in 1999, a feat that Westlife replicated one year later with "Seasons in the Sun" and "Swear It Again." All three songs were also released on the group's self-titled debut, which was met with similar success and went platinum in the U.K. An American release followed in early 2000 courtesy of Arista Records.
Westlife never managed to make a dent in America’s pop scene, where national acts like the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and Britney Spears reigned supreme. It was a different story in the U.K., though, where the group charted 14 number one singles and continued releasing hit albums. Both Coast to Coast and A World of Our Own went multi-platinum, and the group celebrated its success by releasing a hits compilation, Unbreakable, Vol. 1: The Greatest Hits, in 2002. Turnaround followed in 2003 and fared similarly well, but Bryan McFadden nevertheless left the lineup one later year in the hopes of launching his own career. "Real to Me," his first single as a solo artist, topped the charts in 2004.
Westlife continued touring after McFadden's exit and released Allow Us to Be Frank, a tribute to the Rat Pack, in late 2004. They returned to their contemporary pop formula with 2005's Face to Face -- their biggest-selling album in three years -- and continued releasing material throughout the rest of the decade, including The Love Album, Back Home, and Where We Are.
In November 2010, Westlife released Gravity, their tenth studio album. Following the release of single "Safe," the band announced they would be leaving Simon Cowell's label Syco. Citing a lack of support from Cowell following Syco's unwillingness to release a second single from Gravity, the group signed a one-album deal with RCA Records. A Greatest Hits album was released a year after Gravity, featuring four new songs that would turn out to be the band's last as they announced their split following a farewell tour. Sold out in minutes, the tour was a huge success, ending in June of 2012 at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin, Ireland in front of a crowd of over 80,000.
Over the next few years, each member focused on his own career and families, taking timeouts, releasing solo albums, and appearing on TV and reality shows. In 2018, after numerous rumors, the group announced that a new album was in the works alongside a tour. Returning to the studio with previous collaborator Steve Mac -- who had also built up a successful songwriting partnership with Ed Sheeran -- Westlife delivered their 11th studio album, Spectrum, at the end of 2019. The album included collaborations with James Bay as well as Sheeran on the singles "Hello My Love" and "Better Man." ~ Andrew Leahey

I didn't know how much I needed this today. Westlife saved me 21 years ago, and they still make my heart sing like nothing else. I probably wouldn't be here today without them. Yeah, it's just a band to other people, but if only they could go back to my past and see all the ways Westlife kept me alive through my darkest times. They are my starlight.

Westlife albums are the only albums I buy as cd's. I want them as physically
part of my collection of Westlife music, books. Any other I buy downloading them online but Westlife... I have to have it in my hands. Its special moment when my copy of "Wild dreams" travelled to me from Uk, through Germany, to finally come to Poland. I love it.
For the people who just know Westlife right now, these are the members' names and its positions.

* Shane Filan (2nd to the right side, black brown hair, dark brown jacket) - '79 liner - leader, main vocalist, songwriter, main producer, center, face of the group
* Kian Egan (left side, blonde hair with bangs, khaki jacket & jeans) - '80 liner - sub vocalist, songwriter, producer, musician

I still prefer the Westlife that earned 14 Number Ones scoring 3rd place after elvis and Beatles. That is an achievement that must Never be downplayed.
The Westlife of today would never have achieved that back then because Millennial music has no emotion, not the same quality as the 90s/2000s and Westlife had better team of vocal arrangers, song writers, and marketing in those days.
However they are doing well considering they have been around for 23 years and the music has changed so much. There is no warmth in todays music. It is just voice and instrument. Hence singers like Shane who master emotion and warmth are no longer given the value they deserve .

I mean, emotionally, they too like the Westlife of today because of the liberty of their music, only nowadays they really write and choose most of the songs to be released in the album. Old time was all management and stuff. Remember the cover singles? They sold well but, honestly to think of it, meh, I prefer their originals

Me as westlifers honestly prefer "the old westlife" where Brian still existed. Right now the taste of music also change, the legendary music was old but gold. I love the old music taste of westlife, when u heard that u definitely know it's westlife song :) miss the greatest hits of weslife song the lyrics also meaningful
The good old music was the best. It had class and soul. Nothing can surpass it. Their sound mixing and arrangement was one of the best in the world.

The band's image and music was better than today. Ofcourse they have aged and music in general has lost the soulfulness it used to have. Westlife was unique because it suited both the young and old. These days loyal older fans accepts anything out of deep loyalty. But if Westlife started as band Today with the kind if music they have released, they were never going to achieve 5 consecutive number ones in an album. THAT IS WHY IN ALL THEIR EXPERIMENTS, THEY MUST NEVER TRY TO UNDERESTIMATE THE BANDS PREVIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS. Nothing they do now can surpass their peak.
Loyal fans will ofcourse accept anything on offer. They want the band together.
Personally , if I want soul and music that touches my heart, I go to old Westlife music. Songs like Leaving, I Do, Evergreen, etc.
