    SYNOPSIS:
    With the world's timber industry becoming ever more global and mechanized, countries such as Thailand have been severely affected by an illegal logging trade worth billions of dollars, and face the almost total loss of their primary rainforest. But in neighbouring Papua New Guinea a new, small-scale logging technique based on a portable 'walkabout sawmill' has enabled local people to benefit from profitable timber manufacture at the same time as preserving the rainforest as a precious resource.
