I haven't found it too expensive, but it has become more expensive since we got here two years ago. Inflation has hit everywhere and here is no exception. My husband and I relocated from R.I. to The Villages going on a year ago following our retirements. We could not be happier living in The Villages in our new smaller low maintenance home which is a short walk to the pool and short golf cart rides to 4 rec centers. We have great neighbors both single and married and we enjoy spending time together especially at our frequent neighborhood driveway parties. Tonight I will head out with friends to boozy bingo at Sawgrass Grove while my husband attends his fishing club meeting at Everglades rec center right up the street from our home. For those who want an active fun retirement with others that want the same this is what The Villages delivers. Do come back in December which Rusty helps in the coordination of Santa Con South event which is great fun, and hubby and I won 2nd place in the golf cart decorating contest that was part of last year's Santa Con event. 😁

Loved, loved this video! My husband and I are about to move into a Del Webb community in Georgia. In fact, we will move in next week. We chose this community because it is an over 55 one. I am 78 and my husband is 87, so we are a bit late to the game, but still healthy enough to look forward to all the many activities available! We chose this one because we will still be close to our family and not quite as large as Villages. I think there will be close to 800 homes when it will be completed probably in 2 to 3 years. Most of people living here now are probably in their 60’s, but will help keep us “young”! Lots of groups here and I’m even thinking of starting a new one with “like minded”women. I mean by that, women who may share interests. The Villages are great and lots of good people there. Florida is wonderful as well!

I've always known that Florida was a haven for snowbirds and retirees. I've never heard of The Villages, so interesting peak into that lifestyle. It is beautifully laid out and looks like a hub of activity. I'm 75 and have always yearned to be around people and then along came covid and just the polarizing times we live in , so I've just retreated. Now I just read, hike with my dogs and watch your channel. But, I can see where that would be a slice of paradise for the socially active older set.

I love to visit Florida but I wouldn’t live there year round. It’s too hot in summer for me plus I would miss the change of seasons. Yes, I’d even miss snow!
So to answer your question, no I wouldn’t live there. The Villages look beautiful but it’s too large, too controlled, too homogeneous for me. But if it’s your cup of tea, go for it! 😊

I say the same thing at 67. My husband will be 70 in December this year! Yes it’s Scary! We live in Fernandina beach, Amelia Island, FL. We are literally the first exit into Florida after Georgia. More northeast, but we love the cooler weather during December and January. We still get hot day beginning late February and very hot summers. We’re OK with it. Formally we were both New Yorkers born, raised, worked and educated there. We were tired of depressing snowfall and ice and wanted a warmer climate upon retiring. Plus the cost of living in New York is ridiculous. I don’t know people can afford it now that we’re gone 5 years. We came down to Amelia Island as snowbirds in 2018 stayed in Fernandina Beach and rented That was January 2018. In October 2019 we closed on our house in Fernandina beach. We are 4 miles from the beach. I don’t mind a little more inland but that’s OK. Much better for us in case of hurricanes. The other thing is it’s like being on Cape Cod! Yes my neighbor told me that’s what they call Amelia Island; the Cap Cod of Florida. Our neighborhood is a mixture of kids adults, our age and people in their 50s. Yes it’s just right for us. We love our development my husband can play golf or volunteer at our church which he enjoys doing. I sing in the chorus there and do the ladies guild and crafts. We’re having fun. They’ll be no 90 nursing home for us! Heck no! Never!
