The best series.
I have over 300 books on my audible covering all genres.
I usually have a problem when reading most books that within the first few chapters, I have a vague idea on what’s going to happen going forward.
This series throws you curveballs every chapter. Outside of Carl surviving because he is the main character, you have zero idea what’s going to happen. Every character, every new monster, and every new situation is so crazy and unique, you just shake your head and laugh.
It’s not for the squeamish, but if you like creative, and actually deep writing, with a heavy dose of humor, will be pleasantly surprised about how good this series is.
And unlike most series, it gets better as you go along.
My mind is just blown with how good it is, how much depth it has and it's just continuing to get better and better. I'm well into the 7th one now!!
Glurp glurp!!
Can't read that without dying laughing about the snick....
I agree: Seth MacFarland should TOTALLY voice the AI!
I’m sold! This sounds right up my alley. You give the best recommendations!
I have to give the credit to my husband on this one. Him laughing almost constantly while listening and running to tell me out of context non spoiler parts made me have to read it. :D
@@ArtBookshelfOdyssey I hope you actually followed up and read it, it's a great series.
Litrpg is my favorite genre now after fantasy and scifi, I havent started DCC but am looking forward to it.
I've only read a few before DCC, but now I'm going to be looking for more in the genre. This has just been too good of a time not to.
It’s so good!
Absolutely series of the year for me.
I was just looking for a new LitRPG, so this is perfect timing. I'll definitely give it a try!
I hope it brings you just as much joy as it has me! She spells her name a bit differently, but there's even a Katia you meet in later books!
"WARNING! The following comment is so wholesome that it's clearly a trap. You find it."
Leslie, I can't tell you how well timed this upload is. I started DCC at the beginning of August, and like you, I've binged it. All six. Twice. I've laughed more in the last three weeks than I think I ever have to a book. Funnily, I'm NOT a gamer, never have been, but the gaming elements were still easily accessible to me. I'm sure I'm missing some obvious game in-jokes but it really doesn't matter. I've been doing the audible too and agree completely that Jeff Hayes is fantastic. To my everlasting frustration though, now I have to wait over a year for the next book. Dammit. The AI is my fave too. I will say that as I went into books four through six, the deeper story is getting SUPER intriguing and the writing has added some deeply emotional moments, along with the belly-laughs I've done some ugly crying too. Simply wonderful.
"ACHIEVEMENT! You have joined a *bandwagon* of hype! You have allowed social pressure to determine a reading choice."
"REWARD?! You just had an enjoyable reading experience that led to content that received comments that in turn engaged the algorithm. You're a book tuber. That's reward enough."
Derri, your comment absolutely WINS Comment of the Year. Love it!!
I see exactly what you mean about depth - I'm already deep off into the 4th book and I am just loving how big this story is getting. Matt Dinniman really did create a whole world and he's doing such an amazing job adding characters and making things "bigger" without overloading the reader to do it. I can tell this series will be an annual reread for me - it just rose to the top for when I need something to pull me out of a funk or if I'm having a difficult time and just need to have a load of laughs. :D
I love this series, been following it for years! It was one of those things that I picked up to be a pulpy read and it turned out to be really great.
My husband kept coming to interrupt me saying, "Babe, can I please just tell you this non spoilery thing that just happened?" That and him almost constantly cracking up laughing when he was listening to the audiobook sold me on that it would be a good time.
@@TheNerdyNarrative what really got me, was the oddly realistic politics going on in the background that Carl is having to manipulate. I'm dying for the next book to come out cuz they're finally going to be on the 9th floor and I'm wondering how they're going to handle the issue with Donut's crown. I also just really want to hug Prepetente. That whole thing just broke my heart.
So glad you are loving the series. I'm been screaming about it from the rooftops since book 1 came out. It's the cream of the LitRPG crop right now! Super glad you made the video to spread the word!!
I sure hate that it missed making its way on to my radar earlier, but it does mean I get to enjoy the binge, lol! I'm into the 4th one now - should be done in time to hit the 7th on release day. I've had a lot of folks tell me the 6th book is their favorite of the series so far - what's your take on that?
@@TheNerdyNarrative I really liked the 6th, for spoiler-reasons I can't say why.. but also the few little things I didn't like as much about it sort of dungeon floor based as a whole. You'll see :)
There are a LOT of people that agree with you about the 6th being their favorite, which is what made me ask. I can't wait to get to it. I'm excited for the 5th one because of who I see on its cover....I really hope that means that character plays a bigger role in the story!
I’m obsessed with this series. Book five is my favorite
I just started the fourth one last night!!!
This series is amazing so many tropes but I belive its to be animated.
Animated makes sense, especially for this world. I don't care how they do it, I'm there for it! :D
So excited for book 7 and the tv series!
SAME!!!
We're reading it as a family (with 2 preteens). Currently on book 3.
I love this!!! You'll meet one of my new favorite characters in this one. :D
NEW ACHIEVEMENT! DCC Book Reviewer! You gave an excellent review on a book that made me laugh my a$$ off.
Reward? Your review gets a like from me
NEW ACHIEVEMENT! LUCKY RUclipsR! Your DCC review appeared in the top of my recommended feed.
REWARD? You relieved a bronze lucky bastard box.
NEW ACHIEVEMENT! ENTERTAINING CONTENT! Your review managed to finish playing before I shut it off.
REWARD? I just subscribed, that’s reward enough.
This was the absolute BEST way to start my day! Well, this and the fact the book 7 appeared on my Kindle this morning ready for me to dive right in to see what in the hell the Princess Posse is about to do in the Faction Wars!!!!
I'm guessing you read my comment in the AI's voice. Also, I got the book on Wednesday of last week and am still slowly getting through it. Gotta love that recap by Quasar. Oh, I think Jeff did a cold read of the recap on his channel.@@TheNerdyNarrative
I saw the cold read! And YES to both - I totally read that in the voice of the AI and Quasar & his niece cracked me UP. I especially loved when she told him if he didn't help her, she'd tell her dad that Quasar was her real dad!!! Such a great way to do a recap. I've made it through that, the prologue and the first couple chapters so far. About to dive back in and read a bit before bed.
It's so good! I love it
I can see myself rereading this one every year. :D
Also Leslie, I loved Daniel Barnett's "Nightmare Land Cronicles".
YES!!! The audiobooks for that series should start getting released soon. I think the first 3 are almost done!
Jensen Ackles would crush the role of Carl
Glurp Glurp!
Holy hell. HE WOULD BE THE PERFECT CASTING!!!!!!
Either him or Patrick Warburton
Lezlie do you have an early arc of The Land of the Living of the Dead? I plan on downloading the first DCC audio soon!!
I have one on the way, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'll be stopping everything to read it as soon as it gets here!!
Chris Pratt would be a great Carl!
I prefer the original covers since they are so ridiculous.
They've grown on me more and more as I've been reading the series - I just finished the 5th one yesterday - I'm going back and listening to the whole section where they go the Butcher's Masquerade one more time before I start the 6th one.
