    Reverse DNS works from left to right. The only people who can delegate an Authoritative PTR are the people who give you the IP address. There is no point having a PTR record any where else- it will never be queried by anyone.

      I had read that as well, but if you call your provider(which I did), it hard for them to understand why you need it. So I've always added on my end because it was required. But true, it has not affected the ability to send or receive email as of today. The point I'd also like to make is that Google Domains has that option, and since square space now owns that part, it would be nice to be able to add it if I wish to.

      @@HomeBrewedComputing Yes but Google Domains would be part of the cloud services including web hosting, which would have IP addresses so makes sense to have a PTR entry. Unless your server is on an IP address from SquareSpace, nothing will ever ask for that PTR record so pointless setting.
