      Listen I'm not really a fan of training collars either but that's not really how it works here. He is clearly just nervous because he doesn't know what it's gonna feel like. In the end he's probably testing it to make sure it doesn't hurt the dog or anything like that. But yeah, vibration collars, to my knowledge, do not bring the dog any pain

Some breeds can be trained to understand when it is appropriate or not, but that also takes a lot of work/time/money. Shock collars are for lazy assholes who are too selfish to own a living pet.

    *THIS IS NOT A SHOCK COLLAR.*
    This collar vibrates instead of sending out an electrical current so it feels uncomfortable but doesn't hurt.
    [EDIT]
    Since I keep getting comments on here cause I'm guessing the algorithm has been showing this video to people again I just wanted to say that this collar is a Dogrook Bark Collar. Bark collars and shock collars are very different collars since, ya know, shock collars shock the dog whilst bark collars vibrate and beep. Think tasers vs massage and sexy-time vibration machines. The purpose of the bark collar is to startle the dog so it stops barking, which a sudden vibration and/or loud noise will do, whereas a shock collar will induce sudden pain to stop a dog from barking which will inturn cause the dog more psychological trauma and make it more inclined to lash out.
    Whilst bark collars can offer temporary solutions, especially if you're living close to other people like in an apartment building, it won't actually teach the dog to stop barking. In fact, most of the time the dog is just going to get used to the vibration and if you have a very anxious dog it could make the anxiety worse.
    Overall, bark collars are not the same as shock collars so y'all can relax. Besides, the video doesn't even show them putting the collar on the dog so y'all don't even know if they used it on the dog at all or opted out of doing so.
    Having said that, as someone who's studied animal behaviour and who's worked and trained many dogs before, I personally don't recommend using bark collars. It won't actually help the dog in the long term and it could make it harder to properly train them at all. My advice is to try to figure out why the dog is barking in the first place and find other ways to make it stop barking. Some dog breeds just bark more than others, especially if they're territorial or protective, so perhaps looking into a dog breed that doesn't bark a lot would be best. Getting a dog is like having a baby not a stuffed toy. You literally have to teach them how to behave as they grow up so don't get a dog if you are not intending on properly educating them. Like people, dogs also have unique personalities so you may need more patience and proper training to get them to behave a certain way.
    Anyway, I hope this helps.

    This one isnt a shock collar its a vibration collar.
    So instead of shocking it just vibrates. It spooks the dog to deter barking. So if its any consolation to anyone there is no pain.
    If you are going to use a bark collar (you should Maybe just train your dog) but please use a vibration one rather than a shock one.

    • @yobrareal
      @yobrareal 3 месяца назад +1

      Its a dog, it bark. Imagine if someone force you to shut up. If barking is a problem, do not get a dog. They are not toys.

    • @annapandalee4915
      @annapandalee4915 3 месяца назад

      @yobrareal unfortunately some dogs do have problems where they overly react to stimuli.
      This can be trained, but if your dog is barking excessively, then it could be due to Anxiety or other such issues which can be treated.
      And some people live in homes/places where dogs being a nusissance via barking excessively will be evicted ot will ask you to get rid of your dog. So vibration collars can help deter the barking and can serve as a good training method.
      There is more to a dog than it barks. If you are going to be an owner that allows your dog to do whatever it wants just because it's a dog that's also a sign you should not have a dog.
      Be responsible. Take obedience classes, and train train train.
      And also FYI I am deathly afraid of dogs, but almost everyone in my life owns one. As a child I was mauled in the face by my grandmother's dog as I was sitting and simply looking out a window. The dog walked over and attacked for no reason. I was only in kindergarten. I do not own dogs, nor have any desire to. But my parents, my sister, my grandpa, and many friends all own dogs. So I am experienced in training dogs as I always like to help out with it. And it ensures I feel safe and comfortable around the dogs as they listen to me.

      It's one thing for your dog to bark off and on throughout the day. Outside, Or if somebody rings the doorbell.
      It's a whole different story when you've got a dog with Separation anxiety so bad that they bark constantly. You don't get one moment of silence. And every single vocalization Hurts your ears So bad that continuously feeling it feels like torture and it goes in for hours, days, weeks...months... And you are reduced to nothing but anger and tears. As you can't get that dog to shut the fuck up.
      When I was a teenager... My stepmom got a puppy that was that bad. The collars were not Used permanently. But my god we would have lost our sanity if we hadn't gotten one.

    • @vaguelyviscous4384
      @vaguelyviscous4384 3 месяца назад +14

      Yeah but you train dogs so that they won't react on a whim. Cats scratch at things for a natural reason, but you would want to train your cat to only scratch what it's allowed to. Horses run without riders for a natural reason, but you would want to train a horse to be ridable or workable. Same with a dog's barking.
      Are we just not supposed to train animals?? What if I didn't personally buy a dog, but my neighbor in the apartment next to me has a dog who barks all day long? Am I not allowed to be annoyed at my neighbor for not properly training his pet? I didn't buy the animal myself, so should I just be forced to listen to a noise I didn't want to hear in the first place? Should dogs just be able to do whatever they want? I don't get what your point is at all dude. :/

The noise is just another deterrent.It's annoying but that's about it I have the same collar for my dog as he bark like crazy if I don't let him play with the squirrels on campus. The collar will make a noise and vibrate with each time getting longer but after seven barks it stops for a minute as a safety feature and the only real way to hurt your dog with this is if it's put on too tight and by the esophagus.

      Lmao, I have a shock collar for my horse, I never had to put it on him but we thought we might have to because of his aggression towards my other horse, but before I even thought of putting it on him I tested it out on myself first. First my arm, and I could hardly feel that, so I turned it up a bit and put it on my neck. It didn't hurt, it was more of a slight pinching feeling. As long as the shock collars aren't set too high they really don't hurt the dogs, or in my case, horses.

    Although I believe that this is quite unnecessary, training your dog to be selective and attentive to what they bark at is not a bad idea. Teaching your dog the difference between a random squirrel and an actual attacker not only saves you hours of barking non-stop, but also improves your dog's capability to identify *actual threats and to be able to regulate when to chill and when to be on alert. It is entirely possible to both have a dog that is your pet and to have a dog that has a duty besides being your loyal and loving companion. And I believe that training your dog via non-negative and constructive methods (as well as from an early age) can improve both you and your pets life.

      I do believe that something like this would be teaching the dog to not bark at all though. seeing some comments have me wanting to comment this. i do use an e-collar, its not a bark collar cuz i take the time to train my dogs.the collar they have is a cheap one(its like 30-40 bucks or something like that) the one i have cost $200-300. my dog is super happy every time i take it out to put it on her. why is she happy for it? its because i introduced it to her properly and i rarely ever use it when its on, cuz i dont need to, shes very well trained. its mainly just a safety measure, because you never know what could happen when a dog is off leash or other dogs or people. but to my dog, she sees it and knows we are goin out to have some fun off leash. to give people an idea of the difference between a cheap collar and an expensive one.
    cheap- usually 3 settings, low, medium, and high, and low will even hurt your dog its so high.
    expensive- they usually have about 100+ levels, and humans wouldnt even be able to feel it until around 15-25, but dogs can sense the sensation, and it does not hurt.(they just feel something and are like "wait, what was that?"
    so for the people that dont like e-collars, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE study up on them, because usually the people that dont think they are good, have only ever tried the cheap ones, or actually have never used one, and just assume they are bad. every tool in the world can be used correctly or it can be misused. its up to the owners to do the right thing.

    • @GreenDeemonll
      @GreenDeemonll Месяц назад +2

      I must agree, tools are not good or bad, the way they are used is. But I still think teaching your dog differently is better, but you did that and use it as a safety measure, wich is ok I guess. I still wouldn't use one, but you seem to have teached your dog well. My measurement is: If the dog behaves without the method being applied on him, the method worked, but if he goes nuts without it, it just restricted bad behaviour and didn't actually get rid of it, the dog learned nothing.

    • @qmerk2661
      @qmerk2661 Месяц назад +1

      @@GreenDeemonll I completely agree! should never train a dog with an e-collar. its not a good way for them to learn anyways. but besides that, my dog will always have an e-collar on if i plan to have her off leash, because i will never know how she will react to a situation that she has yet to experience. nobody would.. and yes some people may say its inhumane but i dont think so, i think, not doing everything to keep a dog safe, and allowing the millions of unforeseen situations that could get a dog killed is what is inhumane.. id rather see a dog with an e collar, then a dog under a car..(had a dog years back that always stayed by my side, but a stupid bus driver honked her horn, scared my dog into the road and a truck killed her.)and thats just a simple situation that you cant train a dog to not get scared of.

    Neither of which are harmful, the collar that CAN shock is only used in its two first shock settings, which I only use to take control of a situation quickly. Otherwise, you lose the ability to use to tool to teach.

      @@BenDSteele Than we have different opinions of abuse. If the dog is in pain, yes I consider that abuse. If the dog is surprised by a tingle than no I do not consider that abuse. Also if people didn't teach their dogs not to bark at everything than there would be plenty more dogs in shelters. I doubt neighbors in apartments would stand for the constant noise. It is natural for a dog to bark. There are many dogs that bark too much.

    I thought it was that collar thing in the movie “up” that made the dog talk💀💀
