  • Saginaw, Texas is a railfan hotspot at the intersection of two BNSF mainlines and one Union Pacific. Many different types of locomotives can be seen on the local trains serving the many industries or on the transfers between BNSF's Saginaw and North Yards. One train had, to our surprise, a clean, graffiti-less Burlington Northern green caboose!
    Also check out this rare look at BNSF switching on the Willbanks Industrial Spur in Fort Worth: • How BNSF Delivers: Swi...
    It was nice to sit at a location for a couple hours and not see one GEVO roll by. I was also impressed how clean and sharp BNSF keeps the locomotives! Train information below (I did not get a symbol on every train).
    Train 1: BNSF 504 north. This local went north on the Fort Worth Sub, then onto the wye at CP 3548, over to CP 11 on the Wichita Falls Sub. BNSF B40-8W 504 (Dash-8-40BW)
    BNSF GP39M 2899 (BN paint)
    BNSF SD60M 1423
    BN 10715 Caboose / Shoving platform on the rear.
    Train 2: Y-ALT1041 heads south onto the transfer from the Fort Worth Sub to the Wichita Falls Sub, bound for North Yard. One of the few SD45-2 carbody locomotives is leading.
    BNSF SD40-2 1576
    BNSF SD60M 1476
    Trains 3: A NB grain train snuck up faster than we thought with a nice pair of H2 locomotives.
    BNSF C44-9W 5281 (Dash-9-44CW)
    BNSF SD70MAC 8951
    Trains 4 & 5: Taken earlier in the morning, I put these clips at the end of the video because I didn't find them as interesting, although it shows a view of the north end of Saginaw yard. Of interest, though, is the Ferromex SD70ACe and the clean pair of H3 SD75M's on the Y-NYF3051.
    BNSF C44-9W 4389
    FXE SD70ACe 4024
    BNSF SD75M 261
    BNSF SD75M 266

    Saginaw has always been my go-to when I railfan in Dallas/Fort Worth. Good action, interesting power on the locals, convenient parking, and the massive grain elevators make a nice backdrop. Looks really nice in 4k!

    BNSF has a caboose I see often on the Mykawa sub on the south side of Houston - they use the caboose to transport workers/crews between various yards.

      Nobody rides in a caboose.. just use them as a shoving platform these days.

      @@Bp3nn Every time I see that caboose on the move, going to or from the main BNSF yard, there are 2 or 3 guys riding on the platform at the back.

      @@michaelinhouston9086 yeah we use them as a platform.. doors are locked up.. easier/safer to ride them instead of hanging onto the side of a car

      @@Bp3nn Thanks for the info. I always get a kick out of seeing the caboose. I assumed that the caboose transport was a safety/regulatory/efficiency issue and I figured they rode on the platform because it would be hot as hell inside with no A/C - lol. Keeping that caboose locked up makes sense - it would be a huge temptation for trespassers. I always wanted to buy a caboose and put it in my backyard but my neighbors would raise hell about it.

    Great video and catches! A bit unusual to see a BNSF crossing with a WCH e-bell.

    • @CentralPennRailProductions
      @CentralPennRailProductions  5 лет назад

      Yeah, I noticed that too. Each crossing is in close proximity to UP so maybe that's why, although the one at McLeroy Blvd is purely a BNSF crossing. At Industrial Avenue, I'm standing in the gap between BNSF and UP, the one there is clearly coming from the UP side.

    • @freebrickproductions
      @freebrickproductions 5 лет назад

      @@CentralPennRailProductions A few WCH e-bells have cropped-up on other BNSF crossings before, so I think BNSF may have trialed them once. Either way, it's certainly unusual to see.

    Interestingly, half the rail traffic Saginaw gets doesn't pass the chamber. Once you get up north of CP 11, say around the Avondale Haslet area, you'll start seeing everything. Lot of intermodals around here go unnoticed until one sees them rounding the wye towards Alliance about a good mile to mile and a half away from the chamber
