I never understood why people bought the FairPlay lie. I remember watching it live when it happened. And he said his visit would either be from his grandma or his friend. The only way his friend shows up is if grandma is dead. But if she was that sick or hurt or whatever to be on death’s door, there’s no way she would be going to the pearl islands for a survivor challenge no matter what. So expecting his grandma made no sense. It was so obviously a lie. But it made for such good tv. I miss the early days of Survivor so much!
Ditto. I was 12 when this aired and even I looked at my parents and said, “Wait, what?) If she was sick, why would she be his other possible helper? It sounded like she was in the hospital or something… she couldn’t help if she was sick.” My parents looked at each other in surprise. 😂
To be fair the people that believed him were very VERY naive out there aka Lil Darrah and Tijuana. Plus Burton was his number one so he had a lot of trust in Fairplay. The two players with brains were Sandra and Christa who both saw right through the lie
It irks me how so many people act like Sandra is trash at playing survivor like she may have gotten to the point where she didn't care as much in the late seasons, but her winning seasons (hers wins are usually the subject in question) were definitely well-earned. Especially pearl Islands since the game was still somewhat newish and was evolving so much season to season.
One of my favorite seasons and marooning in the series... Seeing them trade and buy items from the village was cool and rupert stealing the other tribe's shoes to barter for items 😂
Cook Islands had a good cast, but the initial race divide was such a weird twist. And they mixed up the teams rather quickly to the point where I wondered what the point even was, yes there was more diversity but why didn’t it last longer then? I still enjoyed it though, I just felt that apart from getting a more diverse cast, that the twist didn’t really go anywhere (apart from the obvious segregation in the early game)

I think if the outcast idea was gonna happen it had to be the season with all the pirate stuff. pearl islands. Just the idea of scorned pirates thrown away to team up together and get revenge just sounds like it works perfectly with the setting they created. So I think that was a great time thematically to do it. And it adds this new idea that threw everyone through a loop so it made for a good idea.
This was probably the 3rd season i had watched ever...after watching the first two i didn't watch another one live until this one and once Rupert stole the shoes it hooked me. Some good characters here for the most part.
It’s far worse. I went to school with Ryan S. He said Savage literally bullied him before the show even began and persisted even after they were both voted out. Ryan absolutely hated his season on Survivor and wished he didn’t ever go. He was a super fan and Savage and CBS treated him so poorly, he hasnt watched the show again. Ryan S is an amazing dude that is self taught artist AND programming. The guy is an amazing athlete despite his physique on the show. He was 6-6’2” and could dunk. It was depressing for me to learn he didn’t get voted back in because those others were petty and voted Lill

I didn't realize there were two Ryans for a while, and I'm pretty sure I said out loud "that is so disrespectful" when the first vote with the nickname was read. Justice for Ryan.
I much prefer All Stars mostly due to Boston Rob's amazing gameplay as well as the terrible Outcast Twist not being apart of All Stars. That season also changed the way the game was played from that point onward. You can either call it the last old school season or the birth of a new Survivor era.

Rupert carried the season along with savage and Fairplay, they were the most interesting characters, rupert getting mad and fairplay baiting him to keep getting mad lol
Fairplay is surprisingly evil and chaotic as a player but when he does explain things, like crying each family visit episode it really shows that despite his shameless conniving and cunning, he actually has a heart and he just let himself be totally ruthless in the game.(unless he was also lyingright there) but he did apparently want to be voted out on his second shot because of his pregnant girlfriend. Sadly Jeff disliked him, and used the 'quitter' excuse to not bring him back later in a returnee cast. But I also think Fairplays aggressive lying also made him just a bad pick. he'd be targetted quick unless everyone had the big brain play to make him a goat on day one.

It really depends on how they make their case. Jon could easily frame his game as a clever, deceptive game where he did whatever it takes for him to win. And if Lil blows the final council as bad as she did in reality with Sandra, then Jon would win over her 100% (probably Lil would get Rupert and Tijuana, and Jon the rest). With Sandra I don't really know. Her great gameplay wasn't that obvious to the jury as it was to us, so Jon maaybe, just maybe, still had a chance against her, but everyone in the world would be so mad if he won over Sandra lol

I have noticed most of my in-depth videos get people who haven't watched the show or enjoy the intellectual nature of analyzing an entire game. When I do a list video then I seem to reach a broader audience and a more casual fan is likely to watch.
I did once while I was in college (crazy to think that if I had been casted it most likely would have been on Cagayan) but it was a very basic video and I never thought I had a chance of a call back. I'm 30 now and have pretty much decided that I will never apply lol. I like watching but I don't think I could ever do it.
You literally got me on to watching this show, I wouldn't have watched it before hand but watching your breakdowns on people's games made me realise how much more this is to this so thankyou from me and my girlfriend who now love to watch haha

Actually he quit because prior to the season he got punched in the face by Danny Bonaduce (Seriously) and broke his jaw. He was denied being able to have his painkillers and when Yau Man slammed his face into the boat well he couldn't endure it.

I personally can't stand the loved ones challenge. They're literally at a tropical Fat Camp & have 1 in whatever (at the time) chance of winning a $million! Ppl go to literal war for months & aren't afforded that luxury, what is there to cry about!?

There was a season after this one, I think, where one older guy was the only one to have his bathing suit with him because his wife told him to make sure he wore it wherever they took them. Pretty sure for that season they did something similar to this one where the cast didn't have access to most of their personal items.

I think he would have done fine in FvF if he hadn't asked to be voted out. He would have filled the same role Cirie ended up filling

When Jeff said they got to stay in a hotel, I then realized the luxuries they had.
It wasn't perfect, but the Outcast twist was amazing television and part of the reason Pearl Islands is so beloved.

There was a season after this one, I think, where one older guy was the only one to have his bathing suit with him because his wife told him to make sure he wore it wherever they took them. Pretty sure for that season they did something similar to this one where the cast didn't have access to most of their personal items.
