    As a key innovative cultural show produced by CMG, China in the Classics revisits the stirring stories of ancient Chinese classics by selecting the most outstanding traditional cultural masterpieces and examines the creative process and core ideology in a form that combines cultural seminars, drama and visualization. It brings the ancient classics "alive," demonstrating Chinese wisdom, ethos and values implied in the ancient classics.
    In this episode, Sa Beining tells Confucius that the wisdom of the Analects is known as Confucianism and has influenced later generations for more than 2,000 years. Confucius is taken to the future and witnesses the spread of the Analects among later generations. He sees how Mencius, Zheng Xuan, and Zhu Xi promoted Confucianism and how his idea was written into the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (1789).

    Thank you for sharing the importance of the great philosopher - Confucius. This introduction mentions the great 1770's French Philosopher Voltaire who helped bridge the important ideas of the West and East. Confucius views on meritocracy and power to the people were key to governance for Voltaire. Thomas Jefferson would latter use these ideas in writing the Declaration on Independence and the US Constitution. We Americans can thank Voltaire and Confucius for our liberties. Peace and prosperity for all!

    Towards the end of Imperial China, centuries-old public education system based on Confucianism was considered too rigid and had to be abolished to make way for modern education. In the old days, scholars had to explain something by quoting Confucius. And most of the it was about loyalty to the emperor. They don't say for example The floor is wet because it rained. Instead they would say because Confucius once said so and so, therefore the floor is wet.

    If the Chinese can invent a time machine, they’d see all the destruction of their own culture, architecture and artefacts through war pillage and plunder. A land of sorrows and a people lacking appreciation of their heritage. Hopefully something is being done today as the whole population is educated to a higher level.

    • @amihart9269
      @amihart9269 2 года назад +5

      No war or plunder can destroy thousands of years of history and culture, and China is strong now and not at war at all. No reason to worry. Not sure what you mean by Chinese people don't appreciate their heritage. Weird thing to say.

      @@amihart9269 I'd like to politely remind you of that wanton destruction of cultural relics, temples, boddhisatvas, old statues, desecration of imperial graves and anything to do with ancestor worship, ancestor paintings etc etc during the Mao era and the subsequent cultural revolution. People have short memories. And just to add...the bulldozing of huge tracts of hutongs in Beijing in the early 90s, court yard houses, anything old was deemed valueless. Indeed your very own warlord wanted to destroy the Forbidden City but was stopped by another warlord. So much for appreciating culture. It is people outside China who saved a huge amount of Chinese relics. OVERSEAS Architects told your government not to demolish ancient buildings but they did not listen.

    • @amihart9269
      @amihart9269 2 года назад +9

      @@xrc5540 You only display your ignorance. The Cultural Revolution lasted for only a few years, a few years cannot destroy thousands of years of culture and had little impact in the long-run of things. You are just a white supremacist, I have met your ilk thousands of times before. You're a racist who wants to insist Chinese people have no culture but cover it under the guise of anti-communism, pretending that saying Chinese people have no culture is "progressive" because it makes you critical of Mao. What you are doing is obvious and we can all see right through it. The Cultural Revolution was a short period in China's history where two conflicting aspects of China's culture came into conflict, and the revolution ultimately ended with a synthesis of both aspects into one unified Chinese culture that embraces both.
