Okay, Shaun, I love this song and your rendition! I keep trying to learn it by ear but I'm slow in that.. Do you have any score or tabs you could share? Please and thanks!
@@carolineharris1358 I will try and write it out for you. I can do ABC Notation with fingering diagrams for whistle. if you send me email address I can forward to you. might take me a day or two. x
@@shaunlaverty3752 That's so nice of you, but I have some notes do you don't need to do anything fancy. I literally have it like this: d g a b E D b f g G F D E F G D b a g a and second part similar. It's the G A F G (roll) to the end thats stumping me. Shall I just send my email in this thread or is there a private feature I don't know. P and Tx
This is by far the best rendition of this tune on YT and the one I'll be using as my template. Other musicians incorporate far too many grace notes (twiddly bits) which detract from the wonderful basic melody. With this performance, less is definitely more.
@@shaunlaverty3752 It finally arrived a few days ago and I LOVE it. Quite a change from my Mellow D (lol). I'm a composer and one of my specialties is wind instruments, so my learning curve has been brief. I just enjoy playing so much!
Hi Shaun, wonderful rendition of this song. I've never heard anything this good. One thing, I think Wild's sound is more like a LIR than a KILLARNEY right? I mean it's a bit more husky or gritty. I like the not so clear sounds because I like to play the low whistles, Bb, F, G and I think an A of WILD would suit me very well. Thank you very much
Hy Shaun, i am Steven from Italy, i like ear flute from a few time. J am 65 years old and i like to sing for myself amusement. Before i had singed like tenor in a good classic chorus. I am learning to contruct little flutes in bamboo of river and i am in good way for results. I have liked very much your music and i have tweetted with you without flute. What do you think about the possibility of grow up in this pratic? Compliments i hope in your replay, bye. Excuse my horrible English that arrive form middle little studies.
Awesome way of playing The waves of Kilkee. I´ve heard this tune a lot of times and your recording is one of my favorites. Any suggestion on getting the piano backing track?

Found music for this (Joanie Madden & Brian Keene) but it goes defabafedDc#bc#Dafede.... In fact it goes down to low C#! Can't get it to sound like Shaun's, which sound much nicer.
Beautifully played Shaun and lovely sweet sounding whistle. Credit to the pianist also for the nice accompaniment
Beautiful Shaun! Loved playing this one with you ❤

Yes, super.Lovely tune. Whistle sounds great. Was considering one until I found out how heavy they are... not that I can play very well anyway.
I just bought that whistle too but it doesn't sound anything like that! It must be broken lol. Lovely playing!
lol!
J'aurais aimé l'écouter assis sur un rocher en face de la mer ou d'une montagne. J'aime bien

Hi Jose. Yeah the Lir ad Killarney have a lighter clearer sound. WILD is a Bit more husky

Hey Duke. Yeah the original apparently is in the key of D and I learned in key of G on D whistle. But I think Joanie plays in G on recordings.
Where can I purchase the sheet music for the song? I am a pianist and read music.
Hey Paula. You should be able to get it by doing search online. I play a lot by ear so don't really bother too much with sheet music
