I might have learned my first couple words of Kannada here by comparing the Kannada and Telugu names. I probably learned some when in Mysore but have forgotten them if I did. Seems like this is somewhat akin to gongura chutney (gongura pachadi) in that it straddles a line between sabzi and chutney. you get your vegetables and enhance your idli, dosa, etc.
