Hi Jon, thanks, did he sing one called 'I Think My Wing is Busted' lol? The lads from the Okehampton MFC are an hours drive away but our Club alternate the aerotow events with them 👍
Cliff can you see how the wings are moving on the dowels? That needs to be addressed before the next flights. Best aerotow technique is 1/ wings level firstly and always 2/ aim nose at tow plane using rudder with 3/ model slightly below tow plane path after takeoff.
Thanks Andrew, being an older design the wings are held close onto the fuselage by thick rubber bands, to tight and you can't hook them on, too loose and they give too much so I've tried to strike a balance. I'll try and incorporate your tips, especially number two, cheers 👍
Glad you made it Cliff. Live weather radar was showing showers and rain heading straight for Exbourne so decided not to make the 2hr round trip. Great composure demonstrated to get your KA8 back down safely and you now have the whole winter to make it right. I always like the wingtip camera view where you see most of the model in view as well as the surrounding scenery 👍
I saw the same forecast Carl but it did look like it would clear up later, which it did, besides if there's a chance to fly these big birds it has to be grabbed. I agree with the view from the wing tip but I did pack it slightly so as not to get too much of the wing in the foreground. It would be nice to have it mounted under the wing to see the cockpit more but the camera is super vulnerable during launch, perhaps I could build in a little recess for ot during the repair? 🤔
Cliff that looks like it would be fun, don't think I'd like to fly the tow plane because I'm sure you can't always tow the glider correctly. Jeff in LA USA
A bit unfortunate there Cliff, you did well to get it down still in one piece!! I couldn't get over how much the Glider flexes in flight!! Hope you get it sorted👍😄
Oh dear sorry to see you fall on hard times ,this aero tow looks a bit hit and miss least you got one good flight in ,i guess it is another experiance .thanks Again for sharing Cliff .
Nice recovery. That could have ended it tears. I guess the tow line has a weak link, as in say paraglider towing? I guess worse case scenario you might have brought the tow plane down, though presumably he/she has a release on the tow plane end of the tow? Nice little repair job for you, it'll keep you busy (and another video.😉 )
Yes things happen but it's repairable 👍 You should build/buy yourself a glider, a little electric hobby gives you the best of both worlds plus you could Slope it as well 🤔
Don't think I can slope due to living in Florida but if I get a chance a bungee launch might work or an ocean breeze but don't want to fly over water as I don't have a boat😄
This will not happen and can not happen if the tug keeps a steady climb, and flies up against the wind in big S maneuvers, so I would say that it is the tug pilot who failed here and not you :)
He usually does this Den but we tried something different due to the breeze, my lack of experience in this field didn't help. I think a calmer day and big circles would work really well though.
Thanks for the entertainment and great music. I was waiting for Barry White to start singing 😀. Looks like you have a great club there Cliff.👍

Haha - a lucky (or maybe skilfull) escape. Well done!! Never tried aero towing, but it looks fun.
Yes Alan, it really is fun, just like full size 👍

@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I use about a 12 ga wire hook to stretch the band on my Cumulus. Like a tall "T" about 6" long.
That bruise looks tough, but can be fixed! Very nice video despite the mishap! 👍
Thanks Jerry, 'Just a bruise', I like that 😁👍

There's a definite knack to it Jeff, this method of launching is quite exciting and scale as well, a win win 👍😁
Another great video! That was some good piloting to get your glider down in one piece. Right in the middle of a crop circle too. I wonder...
Glad you enjoyed it!
A bit unfortunate there Cliff, you did well to get it down still in one piece!! I couldn't get over how much the Glider flexes in flight!! Hope you get it sorted👍😄
Thanks Ian, yes it's not until you see a camera angle down the wing that you realise how much they flex, what bends doesn't break as they say 🙂

Thank you Michael, I won't make that mistake again, I'm sure many good flights still to come, but not until next Spring now 🙂
Ohh well managed that emergency !! and that wing handled the damage very good to keep the plane in the air.
It was a close call but she held together 👍
Fascinating! I've just started aero towing my 3M Cirrus this summer! Quite addictive!
I agree Lyle, it's an exciting way to get airborne 👍

Actually the tow line snapped, you don't need a weak link, we both have a tow release, easy repair though. 👍
Enjoyed this video your music made me feel very relaxed watching it.
As long as you didn't fall asleep Doyle 🙂 Flying these bigger ships is relaxing as well, perhaps that's why gentle music goes so well? 🤔
Im glad its fixable. And whats the electric V tail glider he was launching?
It's a foamy actually Olly, the name of which escapes me, Sean if you read this let us know? It's a versatile machine that's for sure. 🤔
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes cheers. I like the look with the v tail
Nice video unfortunately things happen. I've never flown a glider myself im surprised how graceful it is ought to try it myself sometime

@@thewrightstuff7971 The trick is to let someone else test the lift first 😁
A cracking good flight then.
The crack was so loud Jo I thought the spar had gone, thanks for your comment it made me smile 😁
What was the cause for it to tilt like that?
I flew tighter turn than the tow plane and the tow line got caught behind the wing 🤔😯

I guess Towing is not a easy thing for either party. 😒
I've noticed our European neighbors are experts at aerotow and don't tow from such a tiny patch 👍

@@RcAircraft If we had a more experience together we would be able to fly more as one Stephen 🤔
