tbh what i liked the most was the cyberspace levels, i wasn't a fan of those stages in the base game but now with the spindash, power boost and the much better level desing in the dlc i quite enjoy it now and i recomend checking it out in your free time if you wish
I recommend you to at least try the new cyberspace stages. They have free camera control, all original 3d level design and unique gimmicks to spice them up, they experimented a lot!
It’s wild to me that Tails, Knuckles and Amy haven’t been playable in a mainline 3D Sonic game since Sonic 2006. I didn’t even know that until you pointed it out! Hopefully they and other characters like Cream see more playable use in future games. The sudden difficulty spike is a double-edged sword. Some like it, but others will find it more of a nuisance than anything. I guess I severely underestimated the mental instability of Sonic fans though, because WOW! Shattering a TV is pretty unnecessary. Very great video as always, Cooper! Looking forward to the next!
You should try out the new Cyberspace stages. These ones actually have length, difficulty, and alternate pathways that actually make them interesting to traverse. Also they make use of the spin dash to break them which is absolutely hilarious! They even have new objectives like racing and finding hidden exits!
@@LoliconSamalik You want me to say how it's impossible for anyone to find nothing but absolute boredom for 3 & Knuckles, Mania, 2, hell, all of the Classic games? (Sigh), I swear, why the heck do Sonic fans not know that not everyone has the same taste?
@@milesstorzillo7650Because it’s an OBJECTIVELY buggy and badly-made game. Yeah it brought you joy but it’s not a good game, The games you mentioned are polar opposites
As somone who only played and beat the game on release, and then proceeded to not touch the game again until this dlc, I'll still tell you the perfect parry isn't difficult. Maybe if you only play Sonic games then it's hard to adjust to, but the parry was embarrassing in this base game compared to any standard action game. A move you just hold & win with no consequences isn't fun. The problem with it isn't timing, it's the bosses animation's. A lot of them just don't give a significant indicator as when it's time to do. Like when the first boss spins, it takes two spins before you're able to actually parry.
You mentioned not being a hardcore fan of the series and that might've caused you to feel that this new update was extremely difficult at certain areas. I don't think it has much to do with that at all. You beat the game, twice, if I remember correctly, which I would say is an accomplishment. The overwhelming reception to this update has been: "too difficult", which I agree with 100%. I've been playing these games since 1992 and concider myself a "hardcore fan" of the Sonic franchise. Despite being very very familiar with the games and the franchise as a whole, I find this DLC3 way too difficult. I've been playing this update since it was released, but really slowly dragged on with my playtrough, knowing how difficult some of the challenges will be. Last night I got to the King Kocos trial and after wrestling with the game for a while, I said fuck it. I'm currently 38 years old, I live in a relationship and have a very busy dayjob. Videogames to me are entertainment, a time for relaxation and I certainly don't have time or patience to fight and wrestle with a videogame, that clearly needs more polish, adjustments and balancing.
I recommend giving the Cyberspace levels a second shot with Sonic’s base speed stat max out in the Game options. On top of having the Spin Dash, with how fast you’re going, and what shortcuts you can make, especially now with the more editable controls, can make Cyberspace really fun to speed run.
Still interesting to now have the implication that fully charged Super Sonic in the ending cutscene is potentially paralleling Fleetway Super Sonic, given his design at that moment is one massive Fleetway Super Sonic reference and he somewhat loses grasp of control at that level of power.
I have a headcanon that Hyper Sonic isn't used because it's like Fleetway Super Sonic. It's been established since Adventure that Super Sonic uses only half of the power of Chaos Emeralds, the positive half. In my theory Hyper Sonic uses both sides, making Sonic more chaotic in the process. The good side is there so he isn't completely evil, just insane enough to never try it again.
I actually quite enjoyed the master king koco's trial, even though it was hard af. I love difficult games, the more difficult a game, the longer I get to play it.
12:52 Personally I’d rather they bring back the spring loaded Boxing glove from battle or the mouse bomb thingy. If tails must have a signature attack, I’d like it to be gadget based.
I understand ya on the smug fans shit, i speedrun this game, got a decent PB in any% that im proud of, and people still made fun of me on bird app for having switched to Easy in that final trial. Fuck em
18:31 Tbh, I gave up here just because of how hard and not fun the boss rush was. Even after the update. It might be waaaaay easier, but that boss rush put me so out of the mood to beat the DLC that I just don’t bother. Yes. I did attempt, and I really didn’t like the regenerating health. The only way to stop it from healing from what I can tell, is that you need to get multiple perfect parries. And again thanks to the boss rush, I specifically didn’t want to beat the DLC anymore for how much it made me not want to see a parry system again. Edit: Wait, that’s not how it works? Huh, honestly I still don’t want to do the boss, even after learning how to beat it. It doesn’t help that I never was told this in game to my memory. Besides failing to defeat The End forces me to the Supreme only phase. Which unless I want to have 400 or whatever rings for the rest of the battle, I still need to do perfect or hard to read parries.
16:26 you see, here’s the thing about the tower where you climb up walls on the inside: it doesn’t work on switch (at least for me). It kept lagging super hard and made jumps just that much more frustrating
Just posting this before fully watching the video. I actually enjoyed most of the final horizon update. I enjoyed the ramped up difficulty, finally being able to play other characters in a sonic game again (though i hated the way knuckles controlled but i got used to it) hell i enjoyed the infamous perfect parry titan boss rush cause it made me feel like a god once i got the timings and other mechanics down (on hard mode btw). The ending was especially satisfying to me cause it feels like such a reward after the struggle you go through. But i can see why people would have issue with the updatw and the huge difficulty curve lol. Imo though it ramped the game from a 6/10 to a 9/10 to me. Hopefully Sonic Team can fine tune this system and make a game that lives up to the expectations they handed to us
Yeah I also don’t like the trails as well the only trail I replay is the master king (after the patch). The difficulty every each trail is like WTF to me. Trail 1 start fair challenge (good start) Trail 2 is fucking annoying Trail 3 is easy Trail 4 is way to dam easy Trail 5 which is NOW fair So rushed but I still love the update more. Is the biggest criticism I have on update 3. The rest most of it feel awesome
Since Knuckles' punch combo has an uppercut, you can hold parry and then reset the cycle again as many times to again vertical altitude as you want making Frontiers unironically bring back his infinite jump glitch from Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric 🤣
The can hold forever parry was always kinda lame and there should have been some timing mechanic to it throughout the game, and that's the problem for the game to suddenly expect you to time it without ever testing or training the player to do so before hand. Would be fine if the player had been used to it the whole game, changing it at the last second is a questionable choice at minimum.
I really wanted to enjoy Frontiers but I never clicked with the combat. Found it frustrating, dropped the game after the third or fourth island. Call me old but I've never been a fan of the life bar of enemies since Heroes. I've always hated spamming a homing attack or dumb combo just for a badnik.
The last boss probably the most unintuitive sonic boss. Game says “there must be some way to sever the thing” when all you have to do is punch it and you cant lock onto it normally so WACK. Should’ve played as super knuckles in the last boss. Also the new cyberspace levels are actually a lot better than the old ones you might vibe with them. Good video my friend.
Well tbf this IS meant to be the ultimate challenge of this game, so saying its bad that it caters to those people isn’t the best retort but i get your point

Just a quick tiny correction that no one will find relevant: The first Amy was able to use a Spindash was in Sonic Advance 2! #TheMoreYouKnow
