Nice and informative. I like that it was a walk through tutorial.
Wow awesome done entered the amazing comp thanks for the chance
Super helpful video, thank you
Most welcome :)
Thanks for the vid bud! I think the most useful bit was setting up Unify as a Mic input in OBS.. that's where I was getting stuck
Glad it helped! :)
great tutorial
Could you please tell me if the Noise Gate works if I close the app completely after I turn it on?
Thanks but how can I select the microphone which sould be used for the virtual Rode Chat Input/Output?
To be more precise, I just wanted to test it with a Jabra Headset and am not able to route this device to the Chat Input/Ouput, at all. Furthermore, I am not able to chose the Jabra Headset for the headphone settings (and I guess those settings do only apply on headphones which are connected to Rode microphones as only those get recognized by Unify as it seems).
Furthermore, on my main setup, having monitors and headphones connected to one DAC/AMP which uses one optical connection from my PC, the headphone settings do not make any sense.
The only way to use this software is to assign the outputs of particular software directly to the virtual Rode devices (as you can also do with Steelseries GG and VoiceMeeter) and use those as inputs for OSB (if possible).
But how you could route your non-Rode microphone remains a bogus.
Check both, Steelseries GG and Voicemeeter, to see more practical approaches whereby Steelseries GG is the streamer-friendlier one and Voicemeeter is unfortunately confusing on its own. Nevertheless, you have much more overview and control over your input and output devices.
Thank you for the video!
I think, RODE could add a lot more community attention to UNIFY if theay add a custom voice effects editor to the software and the ability to share / download custom effects. It would be fair if that is restricted to RODE only mics. I think RODE could sell a lot more mics with that feature. There are other voice effects software but for example they need subscription which is generally not a well accepted model for small tools.
You said you are a RODE ambassador. Maybe you can suggest this to RODE the next time you are talking to them.
And thanks again for the video. It was very helpfull.
Will definitely bring to their attention :)
Hi hello. Awesome video I hope more tutorials would be a direct and easy to go along with as your video.
I have an interface that doesn't show up on the unify software channel assignment page. And I followed installation with the xcm50 as it said on the instruction video. I was wondering if you can help me out?
@@WootDini hey..thankls for the reply ... its okay im in no rush ...im running the xcm50 + motu m2 both plug in to 2 separate usb 3 ports on a windows 10 pc but the motu m2 doesnt show up as an audio device in the Channel Assigntment options in the Unify software. I have Un istalled and reinstalled driver a few times for both audio devices. and still no luck.
I just bought a NT-1 5th gen. I can’t find the voice pitch effect in this software?
@@WootDini yes, it’s working now. Still can’t find the special effects.
Hello, i have an issue with the Streamer X : i use Teams set on Unify Virtual Chat (Speaker and Mic). I cannot send sounds from the Pad (eg : Applause) into teams conversation (Voice effects works). I've tried bunch of settings vithout results.. Can you please help ?
Hey I will need to check. But it seems like you need to set inside teams where the sound comes from.
I'll be live on the 29th on Facebook so I'll be able to check live
Have you used Wave Link? If so, which would you prefer? Unify or Wave Link software?
@@WootDinican the UI window be resized?
what sound output i have to set ingame like Overwatch?
So that sound will generally be system sound. In games you can change your communications output but the default for in game sound will be system
how do you get the game audio to come through ONLY the 'game' channel? otherwise what's the point of the 'game' channel in Unify anyway?
Heya you have to set it in windows sound options or in game to output to that channel
do i have to have a rode mic to be able to see an input for my mic?
Heya. Yes you do. It's got a chip in the mics for interfacing. But I believe you can pay a subscription to be able to use other mics
im confused about the rocording mix, it doesnt show up as an output device nor does it show up as an input one so I'm guessing it's just for the rode unify recording tab but is that true or am I missing something?
Heya
The recording mix will be the stream mix. It should have been named main out mix but because it was made for streaming they called it stream mix
@@WootDini sorry, the way i phrased my question was a bit confusing.
im saying the only recording devices available are the chat and stream input. and am confused about if there's a way to use one of the submixes on unify as a vod track, where i can mute my music and not worrry about copyright strikes while still playing music on stream
thank you!
@@emmmmms Ahh
So I have not played around with the software in a while (currently not installed because testing something). But you should be able to.
If not what I recommend is outputting everything except the music to OBS and setting it as track 2. Then have music in Track 1. Ensure your OBS record is Track 2.
Alternatively, to avoid so many issues, I always used Pretzel in Twitch because its NCR
Can this program be used to stream on a dual PC?
theoretically possible but was not designed to. would take a creative solution of virtual cables and actual output cables.
does it work only with your microphone ?
mine does not get detected.
Heya.
It's only mics with a chip on the (rodex mics)
I believe you can buy the software that unlocks that feature. But it needs to be a rodex mic for it to work unpaid
I did learn a couple things but still can't get my Mic working. It is recognized but not yet working... Completely frustrating but like something I am missing in my newbness.
@@WootDini Nope, it was the system. I had to restart to get the system to recognize the mic.
sending love and peace to everyone...
Thanks for tutorial! Is that software compatible with RODE NT-USB?
Most welcome :)
I don't think so unless RODE changed this. But there is similar software that looks like unify you can now use that is RODE software.
When I was playing with the pod mic USB I found this
I have the NT-USB mini and it works perfectly fine!
What is the difference between *Default Device* and *Default Communication Device* ?
This is not related to the software shown here but a windows thing. "Default Device" is used when an application plays media without selecting a specific audio device. "Default Communication Device" is used when an app wants to use voice chat specifically. If a default communication device is used then windows will activate some special features e.g. noise reduction or reducing volume of music playing. You never really know what happens though because it differs from app to app, windows versions and even based on audio drivers.
heya buddy, good intro, but does anyone have any suggestion for the mic (i have the rode podmic USB) not being recognized in any Rode app? It does being greyed out in Rode Unify and Rode Connect. Cheers
Heya
Generally unify is for x products. But rode connect is very similar to unify, so that should be a good option
O wait you said not connect either ?
@@WootDini hi thanks! Indeed, none of the Rode apps work for me. It seems like a crushing hit to me seeing some many people just plug in their podmic and the apps straight up recognize it :D
I'm trying to use the USB connection and Unify isn't picking it up in the channel tab. HELP
Eloo sorry for the late reply.
Are you still struggling? What are you trying to pick up with unify ? Mic ? And if so which one ?
@@WootDini the rode usb mic. Trying to use the USBC cord in slot 2 of the streamer x. Am I forced to use the XLR cord now?
@@SemiEverything hey which rode usb? there is other software for that mic which is similar to unify. Unify only works with products that have a chip in them that allows unify to see it
Bro, the same trouble. Any update on solving it, please?
@@user-dm1ow1iu7w yes you have to use the XLR cord. That second usbc spot is designed for desktop computers and cell phones. That’s coming from Rode support themselves
Does Unify only show Rode microphones? I am using a HyperX Cloud 2 but Rode seems to ignore it completely
i cannot add a microphone
Hey
When using unify without a streamer x device, it has to be a rode x device. There is a chip in the mics that make them discoverable by the software.
I believe you can purchase the software to override but I personally have not tried this
This is all great, but no one is showing how to hook this thing up with the cable using 2 pc set up. I use Elgato capture card, and I just need this streamer X to do audio for me.
😄
Can you tell me... what is the difference between Headphone & Monitor output? as a streamer, it confuses me..
Like.. Stream output = For the stream, makes sense
Chat.. makes sense
Headphones (your sound), makes sense.. but this is also where you would generally "monitor" the rest of the sounds... so, what does Monitor output do?
Wow ... that image echo makes it so easy to see the 6 point text... bye
Apologies, what information are you needing that I can help with
Your presentation is solid but sadly Rode also a solid company has completely dropped the ball on the RCP2, the Duo and the Streamer X which makes the software amateur at best. IMHO they bit off more than they can chew in both quality control and functionality. All units are extremely problematic and the blogs and reviews clearly show that. I’m glad I held onto my original RCP as it’s the first and only well worth purchase in the Rode family. I now have gone to other vendors for both audio and streaming services. I own many RODE products and really appreciate RODEs intent however the new product line is just not ready for prime time players who need no time wasted in figuring out the many faults. Again, they are also cheaply made like glorified toys for rich kids. Very disappointing to say the least. One the upside…they have brilliant marketing campaigns.
100%
Unfortunately the software roll out did not coincide with device capability. The software should be seamless with with RCP2 but we know its not and it takes alot of creativity to make it work the way you need it to.
I still think the RCP2 is superior in many ways but if you are using it as a pure xlr mixer then yea Rcp1 makes sense.
I do think the screen on the rcp2 should have been extended to mirror the faders underneath.
Software is a hard game and even the best fail miserably at it. But you are right, if you pay the premium you should get the ability.
The good thing is rode does have time with updates etc and many updates have already improved life like the ability to connect the Wigo to the rcp2 with WiFi
Thanks for the comment !
Pathetic software. Drop down menus for listening and output come and go. Which obviosly makes it impossible to use with the stream x. Rubbish. Should not have wasted money
