Glen played on some of the most iconic songs of th 60s but didn't sing. But him singing? Try 'Galveston' - brings a tear to the eye just thinking about it.

Glen Campbell was so talented. I remember when this came out. I was a very young kid and remember this album well.

Glen Campbell was one of the most talented entertainers & guitarists in the world. He had a lot of hits such as "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", "Gentle On My Mind", "Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Try A Little Kindness", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Southern Nights" etc. Sadly he got Alzheimer's later in life. The last song he recorded was "I'm Not Gonna Miss You".

I recommend doing "Galveston". The hit studio version is great. The Live version with Steve Wariner from Sioux City Iowa might be even better. Also the Live version of "Gentle on My MInd" where he sings it in front of an audience of Country Legends.

I'm far from the average Glen Campbell fan, though he's the first one who got me interested in singing & switching from piano to guitar. Grand Funk & Mark Farner the singer, guitarist who wrote 92% of their songs. Some great Glen Campbell songs are one of his last after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's "I'm not gonna miss you" others 'By the time I get to Phoenix' 'Galveston' an entire album called reunion all but the first song I listed were written by Jimmy Webb. The album is Reunion & it's entirely Jimmy Webb songs. Glen has always had a knack for hearing a song as it should be done by him & they've been hits. He's the first Country crossover star. Some of the best songs on Reunion are 'The moon's a harsh mistress' 'You night as well smile' & ' Just wishin now' Glen was part of the Wrecking Crew and is an amazing guitarist, checkout his live version of the theme from the Lone ranger which he plays on an electric 12 string amazingly. For 6 months he replaced Brian Wilson on bass & sang his high harmonies. Good enough that they tried to hire him full time. But Glen had his own dreams beyond playing guitar on over 600 hits for Capital records in either 65 or 66. I could give a list 20 songs long, just as I could for Grand Funk Railroad! People let's stop the war & Loneliness would be the first 2. Love your channel & checkout the Chi-lites (shy- lights) Letter to myself, Oh Girl', Have you seen her & Coldest days of my life. 3 of my Top bands & singers I've stolen a bit from each. Keep up the great work Ric C

Legendary Jamaican singer Dennis Brown actually did a wonderful soulful cover of this as well. Blew my mind. This song has given me goosebumps for fifty years and is one of my favorite songs of all time. Guess it's the soaring orchestration. Love it.

Where's The Playground Susy, Gentle On My Mind, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Dreams Of The Everyday House Wife, and Galveston are other goodies. Or to see him on guitar, William Tell Overture.
